Growing up aroace, I always hated the “friends to lovers” trope. I used to watch cartoons and create my own “anti-ships” thinking “those two are so great together! I hope they never kiss!”. Unfortunately, they always did… That’s why I can’t recommend Summer Camp Island enough! This show is everything kid me always wanted! There’s not only one, but two platonic soulmates in it. If you like cartoons where the main characters strengthen their bonds without dating at the end, please give it a try.
"homosexuality is unnatural! there's only two genders! it's a sin-"
I'm sorry, have you seen NATURE???
and there's so many more species than this that exhibit homosexuality, varying genders, etc. SO! MANY!
it's very much a natural thing. it always has been. unfortunately, while homosexuality is found in many species, homophobia is only found in one
ALSO THE ARTIST IS HUMON, FIND THEM AT HUMONCOMICS.COM!! was so sure I had included that but apparently I forgot, so sorry!
Wow! I knew about 10% of this, and absolutely love learning new things!
do you ever see a person and you are overcome with incredible fondness? and you just think "oh." but not in a romantic or sexual way you are just filled with warmth and it makes you happy, it just does. and you think "i'm so happy you exist. i'm happy you are somewhere out there in the world, doing your thing". it's love but also not entirely
like people are lovely and i feel it in my entire chest like a burning candle that smells like roses and a sunny day
I believe this is what the ancient greeks called 'agape', the unconditional love for all things in the world.
You don't need to possess a thing, you don't even need to see it ever, you're just glad it's out there, doing its own thing and thriving.
- You feel little to no romantic attraction
- You chose crushes as a kid instead of feeling any particular way about them
- You are compelled by the wind whispering through the forests
- The great beast has appeared to you in a dream
- The stars call down to you, promising to show you the cosmos, but their invitations are tinged with ice and sharp teeth
- Your reflection has started to warp and glow, reaching out to you with unknown intentions
- Strangers stop you in the street to warn you of the being pushing it’s way into our world, it will split the fabric of reality, raze the foundations of our minds they insist
- You have started to unravel, first a bit of your finger, then a hole starts opening in the back of your head. Underneath lies a skeleton of light wrapped in gossamer
- You don’t really understand kissing
Hope this helps! :)

For many girls and women, aromanticism is inherently a form of gender nonconformity, just as asexuality is for boys and men.
Romance novels are seen as being “feminine,” and romcoms are often derogatorily called “chick-flics,” for example. Women are expected to want flowers and chocolates and care about things like anniversaries and marriage to a greater extent than is expected of men. Even many of the things women are expected to do to conform to female gender roles are centered around looking attractive: having long well-styled hair, wearing makeup, shaving, wearing skirts and dresses, etc.
So shoutout to aro women and girls who want to be feminine but feel like their aromanticism makes them feel like an outsider to womanhood. Shout out to women and girls who feel left out of “girl talk” because they don’t have a crush or significant other to tell their friends about, or because they don’t think any of their classmates/coworkers/etc. are “cute.” Shout out to aro girls who are sick of being asked “who you’re dressing up for” any time they want to wear a bit of eyeliner and a pretty skirt. Your femininity is not made any less real or valid by your aromanticism.
And shoutout to gender nonconforming aro women and girls. Shoutout to aro women and girls whose aromanticism makes them feel disconnected from femininity. Shoutout to aro women and girls with short hair, and deep voices, and hair on their upper lips, chins, chests, stomachs, backs, armpits, arms, and legs that they choose not to shave off. Shoutout to aro women and girls who are non-binary, who are both male and female, who use pronouns other than she/her. Shoutout to intersex aro girls and women. Y’all’re cool as hell and the aro community wouldn’t nearly as beautiful and vibrant without you.
Important announcement made for our girls!!! Every girl in our collective, directly aromantic or effected by aromanticism so behaves aromantic with us! (The latter is while people are blending in a plural unit, system, cluster, collective etcetera)
Made a matching Aromantic version for my previous Asexual sticker design!
aphobia is not just harmful to asexual people. it hurts everyone when society tells people they are not complete without a romantic partner. that they are aren’t a whole person if they aren’t in love and sexually desirable. people spend some of the most fulfilling parts of their lives feeling like they’re wasting that time because they aren’t in a relationship. they spend so much time looking for “the one”. time that could be spent learning, travelling, building a found family. they miss out on meaningful relationships, on soulmates, because they are told that person can’t be the most important person in their life. it devalues the support that’s found in community, it devalues the love found in friendships, it devalues the importance for living for oneself.
Being in a relationship made me realize that romance and the other thing aren't the end all be all to life, even if they can be nice for some of us (I think I might be in the grey area for both these things). I really hyped these things up way too much and find it depressing how sad I used to get over being single and "unattractive." I wish I had valued friendship more. I've been friends with someone since second grade. What's beautiful is that I kept such as close friendship for 14 years. Not that I was in a romantic relationship for a year.
Society really has such an unhealthy obsession with "finding love" and isn't very generous with the type of love its referring to.
Happy Pride month!! I drew these eeveevolutions around 2019 enjoy them
“how can you be intimate with someone if you’re aromantic??”
sharing secrets, trusting them with your life, telling them about that stupid thing you did when you were 14 and haven’t told anyone else since, being there for them any time day or night, talking til three in the morning, letting yourself cry around them, sharing grief, sharing joy, getting excited about the things they’re excited about just because you love to see them so happy about something
an aro positivity post 😭😭😭 that lists ways to be intimate with someone 😭😭😭 that doesn’t alienate the touch averse 😭😭😭 and people with no/low empathy 😭😭😭
A moment of silence for the people who think intimacy is exclusively romantic.
You can be intimate with your platonic friends. You can be intimate with your family. In both situations, being romantic is honestly gross. So yes, there are ways to show intimacy without the romance and sex.
aromantic anne boonchuy who kicks hop pop off the wagon every time he asks if she's in a relationship, who helps her friends break up their relationships, who gets all her ideas of romance from a magazine and feels free and lighter when polly destroys it, who
Starts off strong. Actively promising and wishing to stay best friends, specifically, forever. Nice, nice
Neither can Din😏
Excuse me? Platonic yearning? In my 2021 animated movie?!?😍✨
Bro WHAT
Get his amatonormative ass! Also, they just happened to specifically use the phrase special bond, which is a important part of the definition of a very specific arospec identity??
So we were thinking they were gonna give us an aro king, but they decided to go the demiromantic route instead? That’s cool, that’s cool.
Carmen Sandiego just concluded and while I’m grieving one of my favourite shows, gosh did this season remind me I love it.
And, admittedly, one selfish reason I love it is the utter lack of romantic focus. I have a lot of ships I like to explore and wouldn’t mind having been canon but it’s so refreshing for me to watch a show where romance isn’t even a subplot.
Aroace Carmen is a headcanon close to my heart so forgive my indulgence
I made these last year for pride and everything sucks right now, I don’t know if I want to post these during pride month because of pridefall but I still wanted to repost these because I think we all need some cute corgis
I will be doing icon pride commissions as of today so just reach out for prices and examples because I need the money tho I understand that everyone is going thro a lot rn
