On Surreal Sunday the deer go shopping. This gift shop at the Horsetooth Inn and RV Park in Fort Collins, CO was recently visited by a small group of deer, including a young doe who strolled right in and began browsing.

“It was hilarious,” Lori told The Dodo. “She was looking at the sunglasses and the chips. I was laughing so hard.”

Eventually Lori was able to lure the doe out of the store, but she returned for a second visit a short while later.

“About 30 minutes later, here comes the deer again with her whole family. They were just looking in the doorway like, ‘Can we come in too?’ I said, No! It was so funny.”

Lori did eventually manage to lure the inquisitive family of deer away from her shop, but not until she took these delightful photos with her phone.

Today the Department of Unexpected Interspecies Friendship is celebrating the bond between a basset hound named Lady and her numerous sheep friends on Michael Jobson’s farm in Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Herding isn’t the first skill that comes to mind when thinking about basset hounds, but these sheep are so enamored with Lady that she’s a sheepdoggo without even knowing it. Her ovine friends will follow Lady anywhere, whether or not she’s aware that they’re doing so:

Lady and the sheep have such a strong bond that Jobson and his partner, Fiona Morton, plan to have Lady assist their actual full-time sheepdog, whose name is Tom. What a good doggo.

Behold the noble and luxurious awesomeness that is Frederik the Great, “the world’s most handsome horse.” Also known as the “Storybook Stallion”, “Real-life Black Beauty”, and the (our personal favorite) the “Fabio of Horses”, Frederik is a 16-year-old Friesian stallion who lives with his human Stacy Nazario at the Pinnacle Friesians horse farm in Siloam Springs, AR.

“…despite being compared to the equine version of a hot-blooded hunk, Frederik the Great is apparently a very gentle giant, with a mellow personality. “His temperament is sweet. I could put a baby right next to him and he would just be gentle with it. He’s a gentle giant,” Stacy Nazario said. “He’s that gentle and sweet of a horse, which is ingrained in his personality, that will not change.”
