the thing about Bruce Wayne is that, no matter what mask he wears, he looks at Gotham and sees something worth saving. something dark and dirty worth pulling up into the light, and damn the consequences.

in a city where so many other influential figures have given up, or given in, Bruce sees something worth making holy again. despite all that it’s taken from him.

Batman is, at his core, an optimist. There's always another solution, another way to help, another hand to reach out. It's why Owlman, the literal opposite of Bruce in every way, is a textbook nihilist. He hates and breaks and is selfish, he serves only himself and discards anything not useful to him

But he does this because Bruce loves and builds and he destroys himself for his city, and always, always tries again.

Gotham Twitter AU PT. 45

Guess who's back, back again. Garpen's back, tell a friend.

THANK YOU a million to the amazingly talented @iaminjail for the DickKori wedding art shown in slide #1

Nygmobblepot in MY Twitter AU? It's more likely than you think!

My tia: All you *my family's last name* are all so dramatic

My sibling: I know we are

Me: Speak for yourselves. Also you married into this family, you knew what you were getting into.

Sibling: You being defensive and making an opinion when you weren't asked for one, proves her point

Me: FUCK.

The thing is I could actually see that being the rules they have to follow.

(Gotham Central 002)

The GCPD having an employee whose job it is to call in the vigilante would still count as doing it themselves in real life.

I think that a) "stacy" in the comic isn't actually GCPD (they're actually from the bank/coffeeshop/etc next door) or b)they're not 'officially' (like n the books official) the batsignal-er, they're just the office gopher, who happens to know how to work the bat signal

From memory (haven't gone back to double-check) she's an admin girl (possibly a contractor as well) that works in their office. So she isn't officially part of the GCPD department because she hasn't taken the oaths or anything and might be on another department's payroll.

It's very much a hiding behind a technicality situation.

Alright I had a free moment so rechecked the panels with the full explanation of her situation:

Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman in many notable works, has sadly passed away at the age of 66. He will forever be the voice of Gotham's greatest protector for me, as I'm sure he will be for many others. He positively impacted my childhood and brought life to the most meaningful and compassionate Batman since the character's inception. Rest in peace, hero. You were vengeance. You were the night. You were Batman.

On why Batman took in the Robins

There is not much that I hate more than the “Bruce Wayne needs light to balance the darkness of Batman” justification on why each of the robins took up the job. It makes the already a little bit militaristic relationship between Bruce and his actual children just that much worse.
I’ve always thought that the reason why all of the Robins were made into Robins was because they literally could not be stopped.
Like imagine, Batman goes out one night to see a tiny child beating the fuck out of gangsters demanding the location of Tony Zucco. This pint sized kid apparently broke out of his orphanage and has spend the last several nights with no martial art training terrorising the Gotham nightlife and there is so much rage contained in him that any attempt to stop him is just going to make him more furious and that much more unstoppable. So Bruce takes him in and tries to curb the anger and it kind of works but now the kid fucking refuses to stop fighting crime and Bruce is just horribly equipped to handle this conversation so he just allows it and vows to protect Dick at all costs.
Later, Dick has left and Batman is equalising and figuring out his now solitude, Batman finds an actual child prying off the hubcaps of the fucking bat mobile in crime alley on the day of his parents murder and holy shit this kid has some fucking guts to try this. And then the kid lies to Batman’s face, hits him with a tire iron, yells an insult at him and runs away and holy shit this kid has no fear. Jason later proves to be as cunning as he is brave and when Jason insists on becoming Robin, Bruce knows that if he said no, Jason would find a way to make it happen regardless.
Tim is a special case, tracking down Starfire and Dick and then talking to Bruce, this kid is smart as hell and stubborn to the bone. Bruce says no because how could he say yes and Tim doesn’t fucking listen, following him around and stealing Jason’s suit to fight with Bruce and this kid who went by himself from New Jersey to San Francisco and tracked down three superhero’s won’t fucking stop. So Bruce trains him with every intention of making this training as unnecessarily gruelling and miserable as possible in the hopes of scaring this kid off but he doesn’t and now Batman has a Robin again.
And if Damian wasn’t Robin he literally would have just gone out and beheaded the Gotham night life or gone back to Talia so fuck it, Welcome to the club.
Like I understand that Bruce got emotional stability from having family around him but that as the only explanation sounds so predatory to me.

A large number of Gothamites really liked the first How To Train Your Dragon movie. Something about people holding onto their homes out of sheer stubbornness in the face of overwhelming odds really connected with them. Also, with multiple villains named “Firefly” in the city at any given time, the phrase “Old village, lots and lots of new houses” is often a disturbingly accurate way to describe Gotham.

Gotham City is the only city in the US with mandatory city evacuation drills held every three months. When there’s a city-wide threat, nobody is left behind. That being said, with all the looting that comes with real evacuation, Gotham doesn’t evacuate unless it’s a threat of Scarecrow’s caliber or higher. Acts of god, like hurricanes, are not considered a justifiable reason to call for an evacuation in Gotham.
