This song gives me Big Janus-Centric Animatic Vibes

What do you see happening in the animatic?

I have a general concept of it being a bit of a view into how Janus views his function as Self Preservation then overtime becoming ‘Deciet’ vs the Backlash he gets for it as Thomas grows up,

how he starts off with herochromia(aka just two dif colored eyes) to represent his godly namesake’s ‘sight of the past and future’ but follows with how, in time as they grow, Patton’s religious moral influence(intentional or not) forces Janus into developing his scaled armor, further othering him from the other sides, as this is when he’s first fully forced into the namesake of ‘Deceit’ and is no longer just ‘Self Preservation.’

and his bittersweet acceptance of how this is simply how things were meant to be, even if he never wanted to be ‘Deceit’ in the first place.

The last part of the song probably glosses over scenes of SVS and the SVS Aftermath and his frustrations with how it’s always out of his control, how he’s trying to connect with the others again in a way that shows he *can* work with them if they’d only just be willing to, and it once again backfiring.. like it always does.

I wanna make an amendment on this and actually change the latter portion of the animatic overview.

My new take is that the animatic solely covers Janus as his aspect changes from Self Preservation to Deceit, the bittersweet note of patches of scales beginning to appear with every time he successfully gets Thomas to lie as he tries in vein to hide it under clothes, first his cape, then hat, then gloves,

until it reaches the final chunk of the song where it cycles through all the lies he told and shows the viewpoint of the others lashing back at him for succeeding, until it ends on a close up of a desk with a mirror, showing Janus's reflection as snake scales finally adorn the whole half of his face and his eye has changed as well.

The last two lines are spoken by Remus, who is standing behind him and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. The final panel is Janus looking up at Remus, looking exhausted but a little hopeful/thankful for Remus's comfort.

The entire animatic is kind of framed as Janus telling the story of how he got his scales.

It would show frames of Janus when thomas was a kid, starting out in shorts and a t-shirt and slowly covering more and more skin as they all grow up, and each outfit would offer context in how old they all were with each pictured backlash against janus.

I feel like that would just fit the songs wording/story telling better yknow?? ;;

In his own words, Patton has never been a difficult person to manipulate.

Janus who’s hair is white due to the many times Patton convinced Thomas to go on an honesty streak because “lying is wrong” almost forcing Janus to fade from his mind.

Janus who’s hair is long because after Virgil left he didn’t have anyone to cut it, because he’ll knows he’s not letting Remus near his head with anything sharp, so eventually he gave up and just let it keep growing out.

Janus who wears gloves to hide the scars and slight tremor from years of alcohol.

Janus who’s capelet is weighted to ease stress because his everyday routine doesn’t allow for the downtime of sitting in bed with a weighted blanket.

Janus who’s in-nerving thinnes, paleness, and the bags under his eyes go unnoticed because “villians usually look creepy”.

Janus who’s cane is assumed to be purely an aesthetic choice, but really supports his weight when his body is to fatigued to do it.

Janus who routinely lets Virgil dye his hair fun colours after they make up because the snowy white doesn’t need to be bleached.

Janus who grows to love his hair long when Roman admits to enjoy braiding it.

Janus who starts being less self conscious about the scars after Patton sees them while he washes dishes, and mush to his suprise doesn’t judge him, but instead lets him know he’s glad he’s here and to ever talk to him if he feels like that again.

Janus who slowly drinks less and less after being accepted, because there was no reason to bury negative emotions when you have a family to talk them out with.

Janus who’s schedule eventually evens out, leaving him with the ability to make use of the weighted blanket in his closet.

Janus who starts eating more, sleeping more, and going out more. Now that he doesn’t have to watch his back for monsters in the dark.

Janus who’s cane isn’t judged or discarded by the others but a signal to help him whenever the fatigue becomes too much.

(Of course I had to add fluff to the angst)

Summary: The sides are stressed, Thomas is stressed, and someone snaps. Now Thomas is stuck inside himself, and only he and  Janus can help everyone else.

Random Sanders Sides Headcanon:

Remus is albino and Janus helps him dye his hair every year during the summer because the sun being so bright makes his hair blindingly white (the term of the ‘lighting the beacon’ has been used).

He always leaves only a small patch it’s natural white to show Roman that he’s the twin with all the melatonin out of spite. He loves it when his hair grows out because he shows it off to everyone, proudly showing off his blindingly white hair.

Janus loves it when Remus’ hair grows out and, eventually, Remus decides that he wants to leave his hair white and chops it off at the white on his roots and lets it grow in white all year only to blind Roman in the summer when he steps out of the house.

UM SO THIS IS WEIRD im writing for deceit?? or janus. ive finally become comfortable with him as a character. it was a slow process, but i think the newest episode helped establish him as more of a round likeable character and less like the reminder of bad stuff for me. this still feels weird lol

Albino Deceit anyone?? Tbh i wanted to draw this since i woke up today and this was the very first concious thought that I had, so I did! Theres no preset context tho?

Aside from(in relation what he said in this piece) maybe Dee just waking up one morning looking like this and not having caught on bc he doesn’t look at himself in the mirror anymore?(always wears longsleeves and gloves, and the only thing thats off that he doesn’t openly bring up and pretends is fine is that his eyesight has diminished, enough to where he doesn’t even process that the scales he can see from his face are different.)

Idk, it’s all up to interpretation, i really just wanted to draw Dee with snow white scales and at least one red eye bc i’m weak for Albino snakes. Enjoy??

Bonus fully red-eyed Deceit because I wanted to see what that looked like too(hint: I love it?? Maybe even a bit more than the original??)
