You were laying in bed, coming home late at night after a party. You were considerably drunk, and you don’t remember much of what you did. But you do remember one thing you did:

The red head goth had your heart for a while, that you couldn’t deny. The way she dressed, her red hair that stuck up to the heavens she so despised, and the way she drunkenly kissed you at that party.

You never felt more euphoric than that moment. You were out of it, sure, but it was absolutely amazing feeling her black cherry lip gloss against your own. You lick your own lips, and you can still taste it.

Your parents don’t like these feelings though, they never did. You were the same sex as her, and that was taboo in this family. Your heart ached, all you wanted was to take her and go somewhere far far away. Probably some 1800’s castle with bats or something.

You sighed and bundled more into your blankets, fantasizing about how much you love the goth woman. And you eventually drift off peacefully.

You’re woken up by an abrupt turn on of the lights and a hard slam of your door. You blink a few times at the light and sit up to see your parents looking very displeased at you.

“Is something wrong?” you ask, timidly. Your father scoffs and grabs your phone, scrolling to the photo of you kissing Cassandra. “You wanna explain this?”

Your heart DROPS. They know. They know about Cassandra. You’ll never see her again. She could get hurt. You could get hurt.

“It...It was just- a joke- I w-would never kiss another girl-“ you were cut off by your father. “Bullshit! You know how we view those disgusting relationships in this house.”

Your breathing quickens. “It was nothing! It meant nothing!” you tried to convince them, but your father raises his hand and slaps you.

“You will NOT participate in those unholy actions ever again! Do you hear me?! Never again!” He shouted. Your mother just stood there, shaking her head in disdain and disappointment.

Right as he raised his hand again, you hear a faint honk in front of the driveway. It’s Cass.

You grab your backpack and run out as fast as you can, your dad chasing after you. You run out and slam the door, booking it into the car.

“Woah, are you okay? Where’d that red mark on your face come from? If he did anything I swear to god-“ You always appreciated how protective she was.

You brushed it off as an accident and drove to school. Later, you told her everything. She held you close and demanded you live with her.

Maybe things will be better now. The future is close, and it’s blinding.

Cassandra sighed as she laid in her bed. It was almost completely dark in her room, and she had stayed in her room for a few days now. A depressive episode was hitting her hard, and nothing could drown out the emptiness.

She glanced at her phone as a text dinged on her device. At first she didn’t think anything of it, but she took a double take as the notification read:

‘Y/N🖤🖤🖤’: Hey, I’m kinda getting worried and I’m heading over now

Her eyes widened a bit and she began to panic. She’d been trying to hide her depression from them, the last thing she wanted was for them to worry. She got up and made herself presentable, though her hair was in knots and tangles.

About 20 minutes later, they arrived. Cassandra threw on a fake smile and a ‘happy’ tone of voice as she opened the door to reveal her friend. “Hey, Y/N. Come in.” she tried to keep it on her face, but it was easy to see she was faking.

“It’s weird to see you without your horns, and your hair is so tangled...come on! I’ll help you with em!” Y/N grinned with determination. They took Cass’s hand and ran upstairs. They sat her down and brushed through her hair and did the routine that resulted in her signature horns.

Cassandra sighed a small bit as she looked at her horns. “Y/N, I appreciate it but I can assure you I’m fine. I’ve just been a bit tired recently.”

Y/N frowned and sat next to Cassandra. They then pulled her close and held her. “Cass, you’re not just tired. It’s okay not to be okay. You don’t have to fake it, okay? I like taking care of you.”

Cass teared up and hugged them tightly, not used to this affection and understanding. “Thank you...Thank you so much.” She whimpered.

Y/N held her a bit longer, then they laid on the couch and watched bad horror movies. Cassandra knew things wouldn’t get better immediately, but for once, the sun shined through the clouds of her soul.
