my dnd character recently demoted himself back to a lemure. luckily he got back to a imp. but now he's a weird little fuzzy guy.
Season 2 of Dungeons and Dual Mode is out now!!!
This time around, our main character finds herself trapped in a forest, lovely, dark, and deep. with no key to mysteries the old trees keep.
(You don't gotta listen to season 1 to watch this one!)
This season, Kay is our DM!!! She has put so much time into building this world, and it shows! This may be better than season 1: already!!!
Here is some miscellaneous art of Maple Lastname, our esteemed victim.
it's Here!!!
AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Question for DMs!
do you guys keep notes about your campaign or is it all in your head? I don't write anything down besides in-canon books, something I want to specifically quote, etc. is that normal?
Sudden spark of drawing inspiration for a long dead and fossilized dnd campaign.
shoutout to @sentient-deer-skull for being an amazing player though!
New episode coming tomorrow!
musings on dnd style elves:
- why do I never see elves that age the same as humans, but slower. e.g. being a baby for like 20 years, a child for like 40 years, etc.
- why are elves always marginally shorter than humans, I feel like only the very tall elves and very short humans should overlap in height.
- I want to see more spidery stuff incorporated into elves as a whole. drow can have house spiders and all the cave guys, but surface elves should revere jumping spiders and other surface arachnids
- Homo slyvanesis
- When elves finally die they get a big burst of every thing they would have dreamed about could they sleep
- sea elves are just dumb
- do elves have arboreal adaptations?
- what is the advantage of long ears?
- what does living a thousand years do to a being, especially with no sleep? the only animals that do that are too dumb to know or are a shark
- why is there a bunch of 500 year old elves going on adventures at level 1? surely they would build skill up
- maybe elves have slight fey tendencies, like as annoying as hiccups. urge to ask to come in, people around them forget their own name briefly when asked, favors are more important to them than to other humans
My newest dnd character, Caim. Caim is a disgraced devil warlord. He was on the trajectory to becoming the next ruler of his layer, before losing to a much weaker army. what really happened is that the current ruler of the layer and the head of this smaller army made a deal, giving the small army enough power to wipe him out. Since then, he has grown to greatly dislike the politics of hell because nobody wins on their own merit, they always cheat.
Dungeons and Dual Mode
Hello everyone! This is a post advertising @sentient-deer-skull and I's D&D podcast: Dungeons and Dual Mode! Now, I hope I hooked you, but there's more! this is no ordinary D&D podcast, this is a two player D&D podcast! Join Gwenna, the half-orc librarian as she travels on a quest to save her sister, and the entire world. Along the way you'll meet lovely NPCs such as [Sic], the "crow" god of audio! and more! If you are a fan of:
- Awful Hospital
- Tales of Kaimere
- The Owl House
- Amphibia
- Paleontology (depending on the episode (see these) but we also banter about it quite a lot)
- Biology
- Magnus archives (probably, I haven't seen it but I feel like its a thing)
- Lore (there's a lot of it!)
- Me
- the fourth wall
- D&D in general
- D&D podcasts in general
- Etc.
- Etc.
- Etc.
I would recommend you to start here (The editing gets worse episode 2 and better as it goes on)
This is available on most audio platforms. I will probably posting about this quite a lot because this is a project I am very proud of.
Having watched it, I can officially add Dungeon Meshi to the above list.
i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.
i also think that it would be wonderfully ironic if those who sought the fame and glory of the title of 'dragonslayer' only ended up with the bitter, enduring reminder of the devastation they're responsible for. this is not a place of honor. no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here.
Ok, vote:
Can't they be both? They're nuclear fallout to everything else, but a nutritious whalefall to Creatures of Darkness. Things swarm a dragon corpse that aren't meant for the mortal plane but at least they eventually clean it all up, maybe after a few centuries. Not quick enough for people to notice that it's a good thing.
The boiling isles
In my own podcast, killing a dragon basically made America as we know today (basically allowing manifest destiny to occur) and caused massive strife in the lives of those who killed it. If you're interested in this weird, magical, alternate view of America you can listen here.
So I'm going to be in a new dnd campaign and I'm confronted with only knowing like 5 accents. I'm going to be playing a disgraced devil general (Caim from the Ars Goetia). He's depressed and an alcoholic but not mean, just evil. So here's the question:
everyone give me your funny dnd item ideas pretty please <3
piggy bank of holding: an infinite piggy bank, when broken open all contents are spread to the astral plane
Allie
Meet Allie everyone! (Spoilers for Dungeons and Dual Mode)
Allie is a troll (which, in my world, are a type of bipedal, sapient, alligator.) Allie is perhaps the most genuinely nice of anyone in the party, and has been kind to anyone she's met. She serves as librarian of the troll village in the middle of The Swamp. Allie is also Gwenna's girlfriend! surprise! lesbians! Also I said spoilers right??? Allie had a pretty rough childhood as far as trolls go, being the only surviving member of her nest due to a cold snap, and her parents dying while she was young. As a denizen of a more secluded community, Allie is still finding her way as a person, stepping outside of her comfort zone. She also has a southern accent.
Here is the clip of Gwenna meeting Allie (From episode 4):
Wyrm
Meet Wyrm everyone! (Spoilers for Dungeons and Dual Mode)
Wyrm is a young (~9 years old) kobold child! Wyrm is an orphan and was unhoused for a long time before meeting Gwenna ( @sentient-deer-skull's character). After arriving at the surface, Wyrm discovered her love of insects and other arthropods and has been consuming books about them at an unsustainable rate. Wyrm also has a speech impediment starting at like episode 16 (?) because we couldn't tell her voice apart from [Sic] (also maybe the sun causes speech impediments?) ok now some kobold facts. Kobolds in my world are a type of bipedal, sapient notosuchian. Kobolds are naturally burrowing, but nowadays live in cave systems or sewers most of the time. Kobolds avoided a massive event on the surface world, so while the rest of the world is in medieval times, kobolds are somewhere in the 1920s. Wyrm misses radio.
Here's the clip of Gwenna first meeting Wyrm (From episode 10):
[Sic]
Meet [Sic] everyone!
[Sic] (yes, it has to be spelled like that every time) is kind of a crow but is actually a god! specifically, he's the god of audio. living in a medieval adjacent world, he's not all too powerful right now, but just give it a few hundred years... [Sic] is Gwenna's (protagonist, @sentient-deer-skull's character) first companion, staunchest supporter, and quickest to point out her flaws. He also has a nervous habit/tic of saying "thank you!" when stressed out. Here is a clip of his first encounter with our protagonist. (from episode 1):
