I do want to highlight that Hana-Rawhiti, the MP who started the haka, was suspended without pay for 24 hours and lost her rights to partake in Question Times and voting in the Parliament. I'm unsure how long that might last or if the Maōri parti will be able to immediately contest that, but it does very clearly show how while the Maōri people are one of the few indigenous peoples in the WORLD that ACTUALLY managed to fight back against the English to the point of still holding some power over their own territory, culture, and rights, a single display of cultural expression regarding a bill that could strip some of that power away from them was swiftly punished and admonished by many non-Maōri Parliamentarians

The people of Aotearoa are on fucking point with how they push back against English proto-fash bullshit to this day, but they know it's never fucking over, they need to keep pushing back for-fucking-ever because being "civil" or too complacent about issues that pertain to their rights will give way to more and more oppressive action against their most vulnerable. Apropos of (almost) nothing: I'm the kind of pedant who dislikes calling tentacle porn "tentacle porn" not because I think it's aberrant but because, 98% of the time, what's being depicted are octoform arms or tendrils, not tentacles. Tentacles are defined by the clubbed ends, which are the only part that have suckers. If it's tapered and has suckers all the way down, it's an octoform arm; if it has no suckers at all, it's a tendril.

I'm not at all surprised this didn't get past the censors but I'm so mad that it didn't, because this could've been something really special, and the fact it was canned after being fully finished is downright painful. This episode was wonderful and I'm grateful to all the people who worked on it, and angry that their hard work was wasted. Disney did not deserve you.

Okay so you have to understand, there's no way I'm taking over the world if I'm only allowed to mind control one guy. I mean sure, maybe if I chose Bruce Wayne I could his money and tech to form an organization to control the government from the shadows, but that's not really why I want to Take Over The World, you know? I'm really going for the relaxing on a beach sipping mimosas vibe, not a hoo hee look at me I'm so clever because I'm technically in charge. Get real. So what's the next best thing? I run the table. Pick the biggest brightest target and have a field day. Make him run amok, rob some banks, do a silly dance. Make the Justice League pull out all the stops to save him. Crucially I dont do anything too evil, so when they catch me I'm just sent to normal supervillain prison instead of the Phantom Zone or whatever. But now see, I'm the girl who took Superman for a joyride. Everyone wants a piece of me. Lex Luthor is fucking dying to know how I did. I have him pay bail and put me on payroll. I'm drowning in villain pussy. I have a coffee date with Poison Ivy at 3. The strongest man on the planet flinches if I look at him funny. I'm living the life baby.

I mean I'd string him along as long as I could, but eventually he'd snap. Then I run off to Superman. (It's fine, he's a boy scout, he'll protect me.)

From here. If you think arachnids with long legs are just scary please watch this solifugid dig her nest (or try to) like SUCH a goofy little person creature. Look how she shoves dirt with her mouth and then gives it a little pat. Is she even making any progress?!

Fun fact: Camel Spiders aka Sun Spiders aka Solifuges are not true spiders because they lack the ability to produce webs, and their legs are arranged more like scorpions than spiders.

They’ve also been commonly attributed as having incredibly deadly venom, but actually the opposite is true. Their venom is pretty much harmless to humans and they rarely bite anyway. If you do get bit by one, the wound will likely cause you more problems than the venom.

And as a final fun fact, the Frostbite Spiders in Skyrim are heavily inspired by Solifuges.

More than that; they have no venom at all! Just very strong jaws for chomping up tough beetles, scorpions, centipedes, even lizards. They're the tyrannosaurs of arachnids, putting all the points they can into a huge heavy head and bite force!!

This is one of most well done fight scenes in animation “makes no sense” my ass

Dude can you imagine how fun the animators have animating this?? I mean it’s a pain in the butt but look at it! It’s so good! No dialogue no quibs basically playing tag with shadow and light like that some good shit right there

And the subtlety too?? time actually moves so you have smaller and smaller white areas. And that tiny shakes when the robot landed at the end?? *chef kiss* perfection

I remember watching this episode way back and being impressed then. Nowadays with my slightly better understanding of animation I appreciate this episode even more! Its simply brilliant!
