basically squilf and bramble never become mates, they just stay like the sister brother duo they were in the beggining of TNP.
leafpool still gets pregnant and leaves thunderclan to give birth with squirrelflight. squilf is really close friends with ashfur so the both of them find him to ask if he would be willing to raise the three along side with squilf. squilf makes it clear that they will be just doing this for leafpool's and the three's well being, and she has no intention of starting a romantic relationship with ashfur, she even states that they can stop pretending to be mates once the three has grown up.
Ashfur being ashfur, keeps putting squilf in situations she doesnt want to be in, pushes her boundries and tries to force his way into becoming mates with her during their fake relationship and after the three has all become adults. squilf snaps at ashfur and the two stops talking for a few months.
the fire scene still happens, but now with leafpool in it. ashfur reveals the truth and threathens to kill the three unless squirrelflight decides to become his mate. leaf and squilf kill ashfur togather and explain the situation to the three!!!! they are angry at first, but eventually come to terms with the truth. leafpool eventually reveals to her clan that squirrelflight isnt the mother of the three and her family is supportive of her!!
i might add or change things but this is what i came up w so far!!!
