can someone please be proud of me like fuck I’m trying
reblog to let prev know you’re proud of them
The two best reasons to ship anything are:
1.Incredible, deep and detailed narrative themes. The parallels that seem to hit just right, the narrative foils that they can be to each other, the intricate dynamic that's both extremely complex and easily understood. The juxtaposition between something that's harsh and undoubtedly toxic, with the softer undertones, the parts where you read in-between the lines and find a mutual feeling of loneliness from both parts, their intrinsic understanding of each other comes from the mere fact that they're each others mirrored reflections and shadows. In the end both sides will be together forever, and you as an audience can clearly see their tragedy laid out before in a path that blurs pure anguish and tender romance
2.It would be so fucking funny
My memory of The Birdcage (1996) is always that it's more dated and more difficult to watch than it actually is. You hear "drag-themed comedy from the 90s based on a musical from the 80s based on a play from the 70s" and you brace yourself just a little, right? But the film has a strong gay perspective, so the fruity fag jokes mostly come off as warmly affectionate. There is a surprising amount of poignancy in Robin Williams' portrayal of Armand, grudgingly agreeing to his beloved son's request that he go back into the closet for an evening ("do me a favor and don't talk to me for a while"). The drag club's staff attempting to redecorate the apartment with stuff straight people might like (a taxidermy moose head, an enormous crucifix, and Playboy magazine) is extremely funny. Albert's histrionics are a point of tension because he does often come off as a stereotypically pathetic/comic figure, but towards the end of the movie he makes it very clear that he's aware of how people see him, and asserts that trying to copy a stoic masculinity he doesn't possess for the sake of social approval would be more pathetic. In the 1983 musical adaptation, they give "Albert" (Albin) the only good song in the whole show, "I Am What I Am", which Gloria Gaynor covered to the delight of gays everywhere. Apparently Nathan Lane wasn't (publicly) out yet in 1996, which is amazing because it means that at one point in this movie you're watching a gay man playing a straight man playing a gay man playing a straight man, in a movie about how it's important to be yourself, an absurdity that does seem to encapsulate the state of gay America in the 90s.

Kiss kiss fall in love! (With Haruhi Fujioka)
Papercraft Haruhi! I really wanted to use roses somewhere, but actually don't have that many rose-patterned papers, and (I thought) none in quite the right colors. But then I remembered I had a brown rose-patterned paper stashed away from a few years back! How serendipitous. 🌹

JUSTICE FOR PENTIOUS
Cute birds appreciation post
Lotta people concerned in the replies—the person in the video is holding them in a photographers grip, which allows the bird more freedom of movement and the ability to peck at the bander's hand if they're distressed, you don't need to worry about their discomfort. The birds which are not being held in this grip are being held so because their wing muscles are much more powerful and they could injure themselves if held with the photographer's grip. In other words—this person knows what they are doing, and is mitigating harm to the birds.
They're being recorded to track population and health, are just a little dazed because they just got caught by a mist net, and once they've been banded and had photos or in this case videos taken to record their condition they'll be released. They're held for only a very brief amount of time, purely to gather data for conservation purposes, and are released as soon as they have been banded and recorded.
tbh if someone just handed me a pressure washer and set me loose in the streets i would go into a trance and just start hosing shit down indiscriminately. it's not a question of how much i could clean, but how long until i get hit by a car and die

get okay with being some level of burden on others, seriously
you know what’s a real burden? a person that is so scared of leaning on other people that they try to be completely self sufficient and you end up either having to help them indirectly to save their ego or they have to break down in order to receive help, both of which are so much more heavy to the person that loves them than just being leaned on casually
I'm trying to get back into the groove of things. I am currently diving headfirst into one of my oldest hyper fixations. I finished this a few days ago after taking too long to work on it, but well....
