For your aot asks….

Do you think Levi’s mom would approve of Levi joining the scouts if she were alive when Erwin captured him in the underground?

Avatar

Eep!! IDK If I'm the best person to ask for this, some others are much more insightful. But!

Without really knowing enough about Kenny and Kuchels life before Levi, I think Kuchel might've seen this as an opportunity for Levi to experience life above ground, something she hasn't done for a long time, if at all (I'm not sure at what point the Ackerman's were forced into the underground). If she knew enough about what the scouts were all about I'm sure she'd have been weary about it, but life in the underground isn't ideal of course. Without going too far off course, we could talk about where Kenny is at this point since he never had to raise Levi, and what Levi does to make sure his mother is taken care of, or probably comes with him.

If anyone else wants to weigh in feel free, but I think Kuchel would approve for if nothing else at first, to get out of their situation, but then to see how he winds up thriving. She'd worry for him every time but sees how smart and strong he is and takes comfort in how much of a difference her son makes.

Here's a cute little drabble for Momma Kuchel's birthday. I don't even know how I managed to punch this out so fast considering I've had so much writer's block lately that I could build a damned house with it.

“Hey, Ma?”

“Yes, darling?” Kuchel responds from the small bathroom adjoining their room. She brushes out her long, dark hair with an old horse-hair brush – the handle crumbling into splinters.

Levi sits on the edge of the bed, his chubby little legs dangling over the edge. He rocks them back and forth, leaning back to balance himself on the flat of his palms. He looks pensive – so serious for so small a face that it’s laughably adorable – as he watches his mother sort out her tangles.

“When’s your birthday, Ma?” Levi asks.

Kuchel pauses and sets down her hairbrush. She turns and walks to her son, kneeling on the half-rotten floor so she can be near eye-level with him.

“Why do you ask, angel?” she cups his cheeks and playfully squeezes, making giggles erupt from his lips.

“Well, we celebwate my birfday,” Levi says through the squish she’s made in his face. “But we neveh celebwate yoahs.”

Kuchel smiles softly and stands, picking him up along the way. She sways, humming a song as she thinks. She remembers that she was born in spring, but days bleed together down here. She wouldn’t know when the first of the month was if she didn’t get harassed to pay her room fee.

“Well,” she sings with a smile. “I am pretty sure it’s today.”

“Today?!” Levi nearly jumps from her arms at the news. “We gotta get you a sweet!”

Levi wriggles in her grasp eagerly.

“Down! Down!” he calls out.

When she sets him down, Levi rushes to the door of their room, standing on the very tips of his toes to pull at the handle.

“Levi, where are you going?” Kuchel chuckles as she pulls open the door and watches him shoot down the hallway, his bare feet slapping against the wood of the hallway.

“I’m gonna get you a sweet!” he calls back, halfway down the hall.

“Not without your shoes, mister man!” she calls back.

When Levi turns, she bends down to pick his shoes up and dangle them in front of her. He rushes back, twisting his feet into the tattered shoes as she slips her own on and stuffs a small wad of bills into her bra. The pair ready to go, Levi tugs on his mother’s dress.

“C’mon c’mon!”

Kuchel lets Levi lead her out and into the street, and although he clambers clumsily over the deep wheel tracks in the dirt roads, he resists being picked up and carried, wanting instead to guide her to the market. She has to gently remind him of the next turn a time or two, and when they arrive at the market street, he darts forward, his destination apparently firmly in mind.

She follows him to a small bakery stall where they usually buy their bread.

“Miss Caroleeeene!” Levi shouts, holding onto the table of the stall. His mop of black hair barely peeks over the edge, despite him standing on the tips of his toes.

“Caroline, darlin’,” Kuchel corrects gently as she approaches.

“Miss Caroleene,” Levi says, ignoring his mother. “I need a sweet please!”

Caroline, with bright golden hair and brilliant green eyes, leans over to smile at Levi.

“Well, hello, Levi dear. You need a sweet you say?”

“Yeah! It’s Ma’s birthday! I need a sweet to surprise her with!” Levi says eagerly, seemingly heedless of the meaning of a surprise.

“Well, that is a cause for celebration!” Caroline says warmly. “I just so happen to have this little cake that I think has your Momma’s name on it!”

Caroline leans over the counter to Kuchel and says, “I couldn’t get any milk, but I did get some eggs. Sugar’s kind of scarce right now too, so it’s not very sweet, hun.”

Kuchel waves her off and smiles.

“It’s no problem.”

“Ma!” Levi shouts. Kuchel sees him holding up one tiny hand, palm up. “Can I borrow some money real quick?”

Kuchel laughs and pulls a few bills out and hands them to Levi. He spins around and hands the bills to Caroline. The baker adds a few rolls of bread to the bag with the cake, takes the money and gives most of it back to Levi.

“That’s your change, darlin,” Caroline says. When Kuchel looks up at her with questioning look, she winks and says, “Happy birthday, Kuchel.”

Kuchel can’t help the small tears that come to the edges of her eyes as Levi spins around, money in hands and says, “That’s your change, Ma!” She whispers a quiet thank you to Caroline as Levi takes the bag and starts back to their room.

“What’s in the bag, honey?” Kuchel asks, playing along with Levi’s game from the stall.

“It’s a secret surprise!” Levi declares, hugging the bag close.

“Okay, then,” she says with a laugh.

She watches as Levi navigates them most of the way back to their room by himself, needing a gentle push in the right direction only once. Once back indoors, he scuttles down the hallway, calling behind him excitedly.

“Ma! Ma come quick I have a secret surprise for you!”

“I’m coming, angel!” she calls back. She tries to ignore sounds of moans, cries, and creaking beds from the other rooms as she passes by them on the way to her own.

Once back in their room and their shoes off, Levi urges Kuchel to sit on the floor with him, where he has already pulled out the small crate they use as a table, the bag sitting next to it. She does, a smile pasted onto her lips.

“Happy birthday, Ma! Happy happy birthday Ma!” Levi sings. He digs into the bag and places the small cake – the appearance of which resembles a large cracker more than a cake, onto the small cloth that serves as a plate. “Ta-da! Surprise I got you a sweet!”

Kuchel reaches over and pulls Levi into her lap, showering his face in kisses.

“Oh, thank you, my darling. What a wonderful birthday surprise you’ve given me.” She holds him close, tears in her eyes. “I have the very best son in the world.”

Levi squirms in her arms, reaches down and picks a piece off the cake and holds it against her lips.

“You gotta make a wish when you eat it okay?” Levi says, suddenly very serious. “And you gotta wish really hard or it won’t come true.”

Kuchel makes a show of closing her eyes and scrunching her face up, thinking of a wish before she opens her mouth wide and grabs Levi’s whole hand in a big, playful bite. The act makes him squeal in surprise and they fall into a fit of giggles as they finish off the cake together.

“What did you wish for, Ma?” Levi asks as he licks crumbs from his fingers.

“Now, that’s a secret just for me,” Kuchel whispers into another hug.

I wish for my boy to live long and in the light.

Kindness at Christmas

Content: Nearly 3.7k words showing some of your most recent Christmas, and a long flashback of how you got there.

Extras: Another piece for @levi-supreme Happy Birthday Levi event! This got a little longer than I realized and I teared up a couple times writing it! I hope you love it!!

"We did it!" Your daughter giggles happily as her father places her back down.

He's just helped hold her up to put the star on top of your six foot Christmas tree.

"It looks beautiful!" You say, coming to hug them both. Levi kisses you softly and smiles.

"We still have more to do!" Your seven year old is always very excited for the Christmas season. Not because of the toys, although that helps, but because of the lights and the magic, the movies and the music, the yummy foods, and the family time.

"Grandma Kuchel is coming over tomorrow to help, don't worry." Levis mom loves coming to see you. She dotes on all of you and spoils her granddaughter and even her new grandpup that you got at the shelter earlier in the year.

"Yay!" She loves her grandma and runs to hug her doggy who barks and plays with her.

You and Levi smile at the happy sight.

"I love you." He whispers, pulling you close.

"I love you too." You share another sweet kiss in front of your Christmas tree, before reaching to adjust a small gold star ornament.

It's taken a long time to get here, it hasn't always been easy, but it's been worth it.

"Daddy! Read to me!" Your little one is a daddies girl, and it warms your heart to see them together.

She goes to pick out a Christmas book, which is tradition for Levi to read the night you put up your tree.

You make mugs of hot chocolate for each of you and all go into the living room.

Levi gives the dog a chew toy so he'll settle in and the pup takes it to his bed in the corner.

As you and your daughter snuggle on the couch, Levi pulls out one of the many fleece blankets in the closet and comes to put it over you.

"Thank you sweetheart." You look at him fondly as he sits down with you both and picks up the book.

Just as he's about to start reading your daughter stops him.

"Daddy, why do you always wrap mommy in a blanket?" She notices he does this a lot, and even though you have blankets, every year he gets you another one.

"So she never gets cold, my little snowflake." Levi smiles at you as you brush his hair back.

She looks between the two of you, not quite understanding.

"Are you sick?" She asks you in a concerned voice.

"No my sweet girl. It's just, there was a time we didn't have this many blankets." You hug her.

"So you were cold?" She looks up at you.

"A little, but daddy was always there to keep me warm." You share a smile.

"Everything is fine now, so let's listen to daddy read, okay?" You two hold each other as Levi takes a sip of hot chocolate and begins.

"Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse" Levi reaches over and touches your daughters nose, making her giggle.

You smile and get lost in thought as Levi continues.

But, but, having Kuchel on speed dial and she randomly calls to check on you while Levis out of town and you're a bit lonely so she tells you to come over and you spend the day together with her ❤.

When Levi video calls you he sees you're at her house and his heart skips a beat cause his person is just chilling with his mom and you two set that up all on your own and he knows you're the one he wants to be with forever cause you love his mom the way he does, and she loves you like she does him.

My goodness it'd make him melt.

Levi's an incredible partner and he makes you feel so loved and heard that when he's gone for a bit, it really feels like theres this void in your life. Even if you were super independent before him, he just makes you feel so adored and heard.

Kuchel is like another mother and a dear friend. She'll look after you when Levi is gone. You'll have afternoon tea, watch vintage movies, bake together and play card games. She fills your day with that much fun that you don't feel lonely anymore.

Kuchel means everything to Levi. In a modern au she'd be a single mother working hard in one or two jobs to help her son out. She'd push him to go to school and get an incredible job. So, seeing his mother (his hero) get on swimmingly with you let's him know you truly are the one.

Levi loves you more than there are stars in the sky. You're his everything and for you to click with his mother is incredible. When his mum tells him how much she loves you levi is beyond happy.

What a lovely day to spend with your future mother in law ❤.

Levi knows he wants to marry you but is a nervous wreck and knowing how much Kuchel loves you, shows her the ring in advance and she scared Levi when she shrieks with happiness and starts crying.

He's all "I haven't asked yet," and she wants to know what he's waiting for??

"Give me the ring, I'll do it myself, " she tells him and he laughs a good one cause she's serious and it's such a nice laugh.

"Well hurry up and marry my daughter so you can give me grandkids cause you WILL give me grandkids!"

And she cries at the wedding and one day holding her new grand baby and is there for you do much for whatever support you need.

Advice as a first time mom? She gives all the suggestions but doesn't push about her way being best.

Feeling overwhelmed and tired? She'll come over one afternoon and take over and send you to nap for a few hours and shower.

Maybe kind of board today? She'll come to watch movies with you and chat while baby sleeps.

Feeling a little stuck at home? She'll help with the baby bag and go on a walk to the park with you to get some fresh air.

You and Levi are so thankful to have her and she always tries to make sure she doesn't overstep, but you really count on her ☺.

Ready for another child? Oh my yes please! She'll help with baby one who is a toddler now and be there for baby two just as much, as long as it's okay with you, which it is!

Anonymous asked:

Personal ask, how do you think Kuchel would be as reade's mother in law?? she'd spoils them?? she'd be suspect at first?

Kuchel would be the best mother in law ever.

She'd be so excited that her son has finally fallen in love and found someone special. She'd be so proud of Levi for falling in love. Kuchel knows her son, she knows that you are likely his first and last love in his life. She'll celebrate it and probably make a big deal of the news ehehe

As soon as you meet her, she will want to exchange contact with you so you both can talk about being a couple and about Levi. She'll text you all of Levi's baby pictures as well! You'll plan so much together and she'd give you great advice about Levi.

You two would go out together. Have tea together. You'd go over to see her a lot or she'd come and see you. You'd form a very close bond with each other. She'll be like a second mum.

She'll never suspect you because she knows and trusts her son. She knows her son will love a good person. Plus, questioning you would be harmful to her son. It's a matter of trusting. If she's always questioning you it'll only cause a rift between all three of you and end in tears. Kuchel never doubts you or her son.

She'll bless you both and celebrate each big step in your relationship with you. She'll be proud of everything you do.

But, what if Kuchel knitted or crocheted outfits for her new grandbaby?

And continues as they grow?! Am I tearing? Maybe!

Avatar

Oh

My

GOD!

Yes 💕 she'd be so good at it too. She wouldn't make you terrible things, but actually be rather fashionable and colour coordinated. She'd use the best stuff, so everything is super soft to the touch. Your babies will be comfy, safe and warm.

She'd make them the BEST little hats in the world. She makes them so good your friends will be asking if she can make them for them and then she starts a little business going on ehehe.

They'd be perfect 🥺

Yeees!! Oh whats she name her business??

Crafty Crochets by Kuchel: A baby clothing company.

It gives her more to do as she's enjoying retired life now. And she can work while babysitting the newest Ackerman because that baby is the love of her life!

And you're all so happy to have her!

What does the baby grow up calling her? Grandma? Nana? Gigi?
