100: 'it's always been you'' kisses
That was the only emotion you felt. You mustered the courage to confess to your long-time crush, only to be flatly rejected with no mercy. You felt like your heart and feelings were being trampled on.
That was the only thing you could do after facing rejection. "Why does it hurt so much to be in love?" You questioned your best friend who wordlessly sat next to you, offering tissues to you at extremely timely moments.
"Maybe cause you haven't met the right one yet," Jean simply said, letting out a sigh. It hurt him to see you this dejected and broken, your heart break pained him as much as it pained you. Shifting closer to you, Jean wrapped his arm around you, placing your head on his shoulder. The two of you remained like this; Jean rubbing your arm up and down while your cries turned to gentle sniffles.
"Thanks, Jean," you muttered, rubbing your eyes. You looked up at Jean while still leaning on his shoulder, only to realise Jean was looking down at you too. Your lips were merely a few inches apart, your noses nearly bumping together.
"Y-you're welcome." Jean held your gaze and remained silent, studying your expression and your features. Your eyes were still a little puffy from the crying and your nose was red from the constant blowing. Jean looked at your lips and—
He reached forward and ever so lightly pecked them, retreating as fast as he can. You blinked a few times, rooted in the same position. "J-Jean," you were shocked, yet you weren't surprised. Instead, you wondered why did he move away so soon. "Jean." You called out his name once more. Before you realised it, Jean reached forward and kissed you, just as you tilted your head up to meet his.
That was what you felt as you kissed Jean, closing your eyes and melting under his touch. Sensing no resistance from you, Jean kissed you a little harder, reaching his hand to gently cup your cheek, wiping a tear that fell from your puffy eyes. Jean broke the kiss first, slowly opening his eyes to look into yours again.
"It has always been you," Jean whispered, palm still on your cheek. "I've always liked you."
"Shh, you don't have to say anything." Jean hushed you with his finger, pulling you closer to his side. "You don't need to tell me anything." Leaving a fluttering kiss to your forehead, Jean looked on ahead, a light blush appearing on his cheeks.
That was what you did as you interlocked your fingers with Jean's, leaning your head on his shoulder and gazing into the distance, wondering why haven't you noticed that the right one for you has always been by your side.
