Pretty Beautiful
Content: 1.6k words. Something has you down, and Levi pulls you back up.
Your alarm has just gone off, indicating it's about time to start your chores.
As you stir awake, it feels like a nice cool morning, the sunlight is just coming in the window, and you're nice and warm in bed.
Remembering yesterdays events, you let out a sigh, turn over and decide to deal with consequences of being late, or maybe not showing up at all.
A knock on your door comes shortly and startles you. "What?" You hiss.
"It's me. You're late." Jean.
"I don't care." You tell him.
"What am I supposed to say?" He asks through the door.
"Whatever you want." You say, hoping he'll just go.
Jean sighs and heads off. He knows if anyone notices you're missing, they'll ask him. He can't tell them the real reason you're not coming out of your room.
He knows, of course, and had tried to cheer you up, but it seems you need a bit of time to yourself.
Everyone goes about their day while you try to sleep away your sorrow.
"Kirstein!" Jean cringes.
"Yes, Captain?" He asks Levi, trying to appear nonchalant.
"Where's your bestie?" Levi uses the term he's heard you two use for each other.
"Oh, ah, not sure, sir-" He lies, terribly.
"The truth." Levi knows better.
"In her room." Jean says quietly.
"Any reason?" Levi is interested to know as it's unlike you to neglect your duty.
"I don't think she's feeling very well." Not a lie, exactly.
"Does she need medical attention?" Levi wants to know.
"Um, I don't really think-" He's shushed by Levi waving his hand.
"Nevermind." He decides to go see for himself.
Jean doesn't have time to warn you, so he silently wishes you luck.
"What?" You yell again after the pounding on your door.
"You don't sound sick to me." You sit up at hearing it is not Jean, but Captain Levi.
