some commissions with a big gap of time between the completion of each, but i wanted to post them together! for @post-ironicweaboo

i'll probably close my commissions for a short while what with art school eating up a lot of time and energy 🛌

My beautiful babies Tiberios and Sophia! For a little idea I had to explore romance manga tropes in a historical period I enjoy.

(The high point of Middle Byzantium. Around 1000 AD).

Tiberios is the son of an imperial bureaucrat, who loves to flaunt his learning and knowledge of history, but hates having been forced to move into the boonies after his father was caught up in a palace intrigue.

Sophia is the daughter of a craftsman in said boonies. Though she has some Slavic ancestry, as far as she is concerned, she is as Roman as anyone else. She lacks a formal education, but is the most skilled in her family's trade. She tries her best to support her family even as she chafes under the expectations they have for her.

How the majority of the fandom imagined Bill VS ALEX XD

According to me, there was no chance he wasn't handsome (he was my "crush" when I was little, his attitude and voice were too attractive for me👁️👁️💘), but Alex had another design in mind, hahaha. Still, it makes perfect sense!

I love Bill very much and having the fandom revived makes me very happy. When the series was broadcast, I didn't use social media much because I was little, so I wasn't that related to the fandom, I could only talk about it with my friends. I love her so much that, now that I think about it, it seems strange that I have never posted any drawings of her on my account

So now you know, Gravity Falls Fanarts are coming! 🌠🌲

THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT 🔺🔥‼️

Head Advice #1: Everybody’s head is the same size.

Okay, not really, but basically. There’s a reason you don’t have to know your head circumference to find a sunhat. We all have pretty similar head sizes, especially from the visual distance we usually draw characters.

The only exception to this is babies or children under 10. Those guys definitely have smaller heads! (But did you know our skulls are already over 90% their full adult size by the age of 5?)

Different style choices demand different proportions, but in general, it’s good advice to pick a head size, and stick with it!

Head Advice #2: You can use head size to indicate a character’s size.

Big characters don’t look like average sized people scaled up. And you can’t just scale down to get a small person!

You can make a character look very big and tall or very very small — even if they are standing alone in a vast white nothingness — just by how how they are proportioned! The most important proportion (in my humble opinion) is their head size. Look me in the eyes and tell me you can’t tell which of these characters are big and which are small.

Head Advice #3: Don’t go shrinking anyone’s head.

The most common head sins I see happen when an artist is trying to indicate (body) size difference in a couple, and use their heads to do it. The result is an image that looks something like this:

If you don’t want your lovers to look like they belong in different animated tv shows, don’t go shrinking anyone’s head! Use their bodies (hands and feet and bellies and muscles) to show off their size differences.

Anyway, that’s all. Having fun giving head. I mean doing head. I mean drawing heads.
