top 6 movies
(In reference to the "Ask My Top Six Anything" meme)
Oooh, I love film. It’s hard for me to narrow it down to six, but I think if I could only take six movies on a deserted island (the hypothetical sort), it’d be these, since they are huge favorites of mine:
Peter Pan (2003) - This film will always hold a special place in my heart. I love this movie so much. I never managed to finish the Disney version of Peter Pan, only seen bits and pieces of it on TV as I grew up and would get bored and give up on it. But this, this made me go read the J.M. Barrie book after watching this. It’s psychologically complex with remaining below the surface. Though, I wonder how it would have looked if it went darker though, at the same time. But overall, I think this is the best Peter Pan film portrayal we have.
Titanic (1997) - High, high rewatchability. I think it deserves the accolades and hype that it gets. Although I haven’t seen it hundreds of times as other die hards have, every time I’ve seen it, I enjoy each viewing in a new way.
Romeo and Juliet (1968) -Leonard Whiting (Romeo) and Olivia Hussey had amazing chemistry in this. I first saw it in school as a kid but it wasn’t until I saw it again until I could have the chance to really appreciate. Zeffirelli’s sumptuously beautiful and emotional portrayal of those star-crossed lovers left me thinking about the film for days.
Dracula (1992) - I love Winona Ryder and Gary Oldman in this. Coppola’s directing was amazing. It was so visually gorgeous too. I really felt for Dracula and Mina. I love this movie a lot, I think this is one of the standout movies that I watched last year.
Dark City (1998) - A great mind-bendy sci-fi fantasy. It took a hold of me and never let me go. I would put this film next to The Matrix and Inception thematically. One of the best films I’ve seen. I wish more people knew about it since it’s such a superb movie.
12 Angry Men (1957) - A really good drama adapted from the play. Lee J. Cobb's performance was something else in this.
"And then, I did one little tiny part with.. Coppola- Francis Ford Coppola for Dracula. It was just.. it wasn’t a role—it was just a tiny moment. But for me it was important because through that I decided that I wanted to become an actor."

Now that my sister had watched Dracula (1992) with me, she understands why I find Gary Oldman attractive :)
I understand his sex appeal now too. Just saw Dracula last night, it was an amazing movie.
