THE BATTLE WITHIN by Summer Breeze
Hold your breath. Close your eyes. The battle wages within.
Inhale. Exhale. Open your eyes. Try not to show the battle within.
Wash your face. Brush your teeth. Leave no hint of the battle within.
Remember to smile. Answer questions politely. People don’t notice the battle within.
Keep your appointments. Take your medication. It’s all imaginary within.
Ignore the voices. Resist their commands. Do not listen to the battle within.
No one else cares. They are busy with their own lives. You alone must battle within.

HOSPITAL MY A$$
by Summer Breeze
They say this is a hospital
But all the doors are locked.
There are bars on the windows,
And they will not let us out.
They say this is a hospital,
But I think they’re putting us on.
There are no TV’s in our rooms.
In our rooms, there are no phones.
They say this is a hospital,
But I see no get-well cards.
Beside the beds, I see no flowers
No not even one damn card!
Why am I a prisoner
Of this “hospital” ward?
Just because my brain is different,
Does not mean I need a guard.
We go outside for half an hour.
They take us out to the yard.
Even convicts get an hour.
Why are they treating us so hard?
Why have they taken away my freedom?
I’m a citizen. Don’t they know!
You cannot hold me hostage.
I am innocent. Let. Me. Go!!
Merely, because my brain is different,
Visions, voices and all the rest…
The Reality Police
Can put me under arrest!?
There are padlocks on the windows.
The metal doors are hard as nails.
They call this place a hospital?
Well, I call it FUCKING JAIL!
