you know what's going on with lil nas x is persecution, right. it's not "just" internet trolling—he's only 21 and being targeted by SITTING SENATORS for his art. this is textbook persecution, complete with the coalescing of religion and political power, and the fact that he can fire off meme-y one liners doesn't change that! fucking hell! it horrifies me how this is being played off for laughs, even by leftists and "we are the daughters of witches you couldn't burn" crowd. it's terrifying and the actual, bodily threat to him is VERY REAL regardless of how funny his responses are.

Seeing that one post about whether sexuality is being used as a marketing tool or not is like. I feel like it feeds into the idea that sexuality is something you can “pin point” or whatever without the person explicitly saying hey I’m *insert this gender/sexuality here.* and I do think OP was a ignorant to say the cases of marketing are rare Bc industries like kpop and of the like are literally full of that type of marketing but. It also only works if you wholeheartedly believe in stereotypes and same gender affection = sexuality. If you think critically for even a second you’d realize that two girls hanging out and being affectionate with each other literally doesnt mean anything outside of the parasocial relationship you’ve formed yourself. And I understand social media plays a huge role on this and is more impressionable on younger people but like. I feel like the bigger issue is how this marketing even works vs thinking critically about how we get wrapped up in the life of someone we’ll never know personally.

I’ll also acknowledge that it puts closeted ppl in danger Bc of this hyperfixation as well as celebrities feeding into the marketing blurring the lines between whats “believable” or not, but my main point is that critiquing what we consume is essential and celebrity culture is something we should actively work towards separating ourselves from in general in order to maintain a healthy relationship with the media we consume and what we’re lead to believe as a result of heinous marketing.

One last thing on this. All of this is also coming from the perspective (the ppl who made additions to that post and those I’ve seen agree w the last addition) of white people. All the celebrities mentioned are white. Black people do not get this luxury to even express gender and sexuality in the same way (whether it be true or even marketing) Bc were too busy dealing with the literal death of our people at the hands of corrupt government and police brutality. Forget celebrities. It’s such a non issue if the thing that fires you up the most is whether or not you’re getting queerbaited by Taylor swift. You clearly live a privileged life if all this talk about white people scamming you into believing they’re not straight is what is making you believe any form of gender expression is marketing when black people are out here being put thru the wringer for just existing.

Yep, it’s a rolling swarm of caterpillars. They just happen to move more efficiently that way! A rolling swarm can move a lot faster than individuals can on their own. Using other moving caterpillars to walk on is sort of like those moving walkways we use at airports :)
