what you need to know about being poor and/or homeless (and how to write your character).

lately, i’ve been remembering the standard ‘poor character’ that makes the rounds in rps once in a while. admittedly i haven’t been an extremely active member of the rpc for a long time, but thinking back to events of a few years ago and knowing that the rpc loves to write characters without actually putting any effort into researching them, i felt it was appropriate to give my two cents on how to write (or not to write) poor people and homelessness. as a side note, i am in poverty and i have been homeless in the past, so this is coming mostly from personal experience, some from common sense and observations. however, like anything else, experiences are not universal because neither are people, so just keep that in mind when you read certain points i make in this (even though i will be talking generally).
