Soon he found a couple photos that Mal deemed workable that didn’t involve obnoxious selfie posing or equally obnoxious use of cell-camera effects. Just as he was about to show Tommy, however, Mal felt the need to omit the second one and just show him the first one: it seemed too personal to him to show just anyone for reasons he couldn’t explain.
That decided, Mal turned his phone to Tommy while still holding onto it. Juuust in case he got any funny ideas. It was of Donnie standing proudly in his then-brand-new faux-leather jacket, the shop from which he’d bought it right behind him, the seriousness of his pose thrown right out the window by the goofy smile on his face. “Good luck seein’ him without that jacket,” Mal quipped, albeit fondly. “Loves it almost as much as he loves guitar.”
