Lovely little DIY project for some everyday bling: a polymer clay mermaid box by Natasha at The Artisan Life. (Just topping a ready-made box with scales, not starting from scratch, fortunately.)
Sewing pattern by Jamie Lee at LavenderLilyDesign on Etsy for a sparkly, aquatic mermaid Christmas stocking. Pretty cool.

For a little more sea-themed elegance for your kitchen: DIY mermaid tail fridge magnets by Christine at The DIY Dreamer.
Impressive DIY mermaid ears, aren't they? Handmade from wire, mesh fabric, sequins and crafts paints. Tutorial by Megan at NsomniaksDream on YouTube. Young larper me would've appreciated this inspiration so much!
Amazing DIY mermaid sneakers by Allison Murray at Dream a Little Bigger! She used a precision-cutting machine, but with a lot of time and care this might be doable without.
...Who am I kidding – that would take the patience of a saint!
LOVE THIS! Atlanta photographers Regis and Kahran Bethencourt make kids' wildest dreams come true in portrait shoots. For example, Alaya Barton here makes a stunning mermaid. I almost wish I could pose, too! Found & photo via NPR. More about Regis and Kahran Bethencourt on their business website, Creative Soul.
Gorgeous! Takes skill, doesn't it. Cutout mermaid, dragon, unicorn or pixie placecards by Paula Arwen Owen at Arwen Designs on Etsy.
