Only attempted surfing once and it went poorly, but I'm obsessed with this book. It's autobio, journalism, sports, fascination, nostalgia, adventure, exploration, and history all in one. It's a journey. It's inspiring--the type of book I hope to one day write. I'll be happy if mine is a sixteenth as good as this. Loving this read!
Barbarian Days by William Finnegan
“This lush and glorious ode to surfing is also an absorbing coming-of-age story. William Finnegan’s memoir isn’t merely a book about a sport, but rather a vivid and incandescent tale of obsession, self-discovery, and transformation. With writing both fluid and perceptive, Finnegan transports his readers to another world.” — Rebekah
I don’t surf, but man, this book keeps popping up everywhere it seems—tumblr, at Powell’s when I go, in my email, on Twitter—and I’ve become semi-obsessed with reading it. Think I gotta go get myself a copy. Maybe just the title alone when combined with the idea of living on the beach is it. I don’t know. Must read it!
Surf’s up! From Catabunga by Kenneth Srivijitiakar
How I wish I was handling this week.
Almost done with the second chapter of BREAKER for @readstela! The main challenge with this chapter was creating a color palette that felt both nostalgic and unsettling. I think the mix of oranges and greens it ended up with work really well!

You can stop trying now. You'll, officially, never be cooler than these dogs. Sorry.
A surfing bulldog?! Once again, bummed out that finding an affordable one bedroom apartment that allows purpies is near impossible.
