Shy stared into her mug. Not for the first time, she wished she had a mother, father, an aunt, anyone she could call up for advice. Raii’sa was here, but the only kid the smuggler had ever been around was a younger Shy, and she hadn’t been much more than a child herself at the time. Andi wasn’t a difficult child by any means but finding out she appeared to be force sensitive was something Shy wasn’t sure how to handle. If only she could find Torian… he might not know how to handle this any more than she did, but at least she wouldn’t feel so alone.

Sitting in a quiet corner of the base cantina, Shy waited for her only hope to arrive. Senya was force sensitive and had raised three children, all of them sensitives as well. Questions ran through her mind as she waited. How could she train her if she wasn’t a force user herself? Would Sana-Rae and the others be willing to help? Would it be wrong to use alliance resources for her child? Should she hire someone to help from outside the alliance? Her questions came to a screeching halt as Senya crossed the room to her.

“You wanted to speak to me, Commander?” Senya carefully settled onto a chair across from Shy, signaling to a server droid for a drink. “I’m sorry I kept you waiting.”

“No, Senya, it’s fine. Thank you for coming. I’m not sure who else to talk to about this…” She shifted a little guiltily. Should she really bother Senya with this? “I… I’m beginning to think Andi is force sensitive.”

Senya took the glass from the returned droid and looked at Shy amused, “You need advice?”

“Yes!” Clearing her throat, she cast Senya an apologetic glance. “I mean… If you’re willing, I do have a few questions. From one mother to another?” She sighed, scooting closer, leaning over the table a bit. “I’ve never been around kids until Andi, and I’ve been alright learning as I go, but now…”

Senya smiled in understanding, “Now you find yourself in uncharted space.” Taking a sip of her drink, she watched Shy nod. “It has been a while since my children were little, but I think I remember a thing or two.” Her smile faded, “Though given the way they turned out…”

Shy reached across the table, placing a hand on Senya’s. “You had to fight against Valkorion to raise them. It’s not your fault, Senya.” Withdrawing her hand again, she took a swallow of caf. “I want to make sure she’s trained. Do you think Sana-Rae and the others in the enclave would be a good place to start? Or should I hire someone? I don’t even know who I could hire. Or maybe I should just try to help her and let her work it out on her own for now? Do I even have the right to ask for alliance members help? Would it be overstepping or a misuse of resources?” She was rambling, but once started, the questions just seemed to pour out.

Senya chuckled. “Commander, relax. From what I’ve seen, you seem to be handling the girl well. No, I don’t think you would be overstepping to ask the enclave for help with her.” It was Senya’s turn to pat Shy’s hand. “She’s young. Depending on her level of abilities, she may not need more than someone to show her how to focus.” Downing the last of her drink, she rose, moving around the table closer to Shy. “Now, why don’t we talk about the things you know she can do, and I can help you make plans from there.”

Shy smiled and began telling Senya all the little details she had been noticing over the past few weeks. Maybe this wouldn’t be so hard after all.

'....- You don't have yo love me, you know'

Thank you! ❤️ This has been sitting for a while I’m sorry, 😭it took me forever to decide how I wanted to write this line.

“You don’t have to love me, you know?”

Torian started guiltily from his rather distractingdaydream. “What?” He quickened his pace to walk beside her. Following a fewsteps behind, watching her back as he always did, it was a struggle to keep hisattention on their surroundings instead of on her.

“I mean…” Shy sighed as she walked, she jerked off herhelmet and studied the path in front of them. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad wefound each other, and I do love you, too. I just…” Huffing she stopped, turningtoward him. “Do you really know much about me? I could be some reformed massmurderer for all you know.”

Torian chuckled at that, earning himself a moody glare fromShy. “You’re not a mass murderer. Reformed or not.”

“How do you know, though?”

This sudden insecurity from her was new. Ever since he’d mether she had been nothing but confidence and certainty. “Not cruel enough to beone, not enough guilt for a murderer.” Eying their surroundings, hestepped closer. “What’s wrong, Shy?”

Shy shifted, tamping the ground with one foot. “I’m a nobodyfrom Nar Shaddaa, orphaned before I can remember.” She let out a slow sigh. “I don’tknow anything about me, how can you?”

“Your parents don’t matter.” Somehow that was the wrongthing to say. He didn’t know why, but she certainly didn’t like it. Bringing onehand up between them in a placating gesture, the other tugged off his own helmetas he scrambled to find the right words, “That’s not what I meant, cyare. Imean you are… you. You’re herebecause of them, but they aren’t who you are.” Heaving a sigh, he looked to thesky, raking a hand through his hair. “Basic is making this hard.”

Shy shook her head. “I’m sorry, Tor. It’s just…” She turned, agitated, resuming their trek. “Mako has been finding clues about her past, youand Gault know everything about yourselves, and I … don’t.”

He jogged the few steps to catch back up to her. “You don’tneed to know your parents to know who you are.” He still didn’t understand. Asfar as he could tell, she was everything she should be. “I don’t understand whywho your parents were matters, but I’ll help you find out. If you want.”

Shy cast him a sideways glance, a small smile returning toher lips. “Thanks, but if Mako can’t find anything, I doubt you could.” She shrugged,“No offense.”

A blonde brow quirked at her slight, he fought back a smile,“None taken.” He draped an arm around her shoulders as they walked. “If I can’thelp with your past, maybe I can help you with who you are now?”

“I think that would be good.” Cocking her head away to lookup at him, she winked. “I’m not a reformed mass murderer, just so you know.”

He chuckled, squeezing her shoulders, “I know.”

31. “You weren’t supposed to laugh!”

Corsohopped out of the taxi as it slowed, his feet barely hitting the floor beforeit sped off again. He tapped his code into the controls, the apartment doorsliding open with a soft swish. He paused a moment to let his eyes adjust as itclosed behind him. The place wasn’t dark, but the difference from the harshneon lights of the rest of Nar Shaddaa was still drastic.

It waslater than he had hoped to get back. Raii’sa was enough of a night owl sheshould still be awake. Hopefully. If not, he had wasted the evening. He pulledthe small box from his pocket, opening it as he took the stairs slowly.

Lightglinted off the ring. He had searched everywhere, from the seediest pawn shopto the priciest jewelry store the promenade had to offer. In the end, he hadfound it in a little hole in the wall shop, tucked in a dim display case in aback corner.

based on this screenshot/bug (I used my oc’s, I hope you don’t mind)

Hope you like it

Shy yawned and rubbed her eyes. Torian had taken the evening patrol again. Every time he did, Andi decided she should keep Shy company, sleeping in their bed. Usually Torian finished his patrol, crept quietly in and moved Andi to her own bed before slipping beneath the covers with his wife. Tonight, however, Andi couldn’t sleep, which meant Shy couldn’t either. She didn’t understand how her child had so much energy this late.

Being near midnight, the cantina was quiet. She took a drink of her caf and tried desperately to follow Andi’s excited babbling. She was going on about some shipment she’d seen brought in, or maybe it was something Hylo had told her was coming in… she wasn’t sure. Her eyes were just drifting closed when a sudden giggle burst from Andi.

“Momma look! Uncle Theron’s not got any clothes on!” She collapsed into a fit of giggles.

Part 2 of this

“You’re not seriously thinking… because he quoted poetry?”

The pain in Corso’s voice cut Raii’sa like a knife. Her plan started to crumble around her. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Prove to both Corso and herself that she wasn’t good enough for him, that she would just break his heart. Push him away now, controlled, intentional, limit the damage she would do to him later. She wasn’t prepared for the agony this would be, however.

“I could do that.” Heart breaking, ashamed, he looked at the ground near her feet, “I’d just have to… read… some…” With a slow sigh, he turned and walked away, head hanging.

She never imagined she would make Corso think he wasn’t good enough. She studied his retreating back a brief moment before turning her attention back to Lokir.

“Ah, of course. This is your husband. Who else would venture into such dangers?” Lokir nodded in understanding.

“I… Lokir, he’s right.” She swallowed the lump forming in her throat, everything was a mess, and it was her fault. “You… we both have people to go home to. I’m sorry.”

“Love is the bolt fired in darkness, which knows not what it slays.” He took a half step towards her, then backed away. “I would lose my family to keep you. I pray that the mystics might heal my heart.”

Scratch seemed wary, “You’ve got a way with men, my friend. Remind me to keep this platonic.”

Without a word, she dipped her head in goodbye to both men, before turning to follow Corso. He had stopped just past a bend in the cave wall. He stood staring blankly ahead. “C’mon, Corso.” He followed in silence. Guilt ate at her. How had her life turned upside down like this? One too sweet farm boy falls in love with her and suddenly she can’t think straight. “We need to talk when we get back to the ship.”

“Anything you want, Captain.”

Raii’sa watched the last of the gormak flee before turning to Corso with a grin. This should make Lokir happy. Her smiled died when she caught sight of Corso slumped on the ground, blood soaking into his jacket. “No!” She bolted to him. Falling to her knees next to him she pressed a hand to the wound in his shoulder. The metallic scent of blood mixed with scorched cloth assaulted her. She shook, tamping down panic, as she looked him over. “I’m so sorry, Corso.” She rummaged around in the pouch where she knew he carried his kolto.

“I’ll be alright, Captain.” His voice was strained as he tried to push himself up. “Don’t worry about me.”

“Corso, you idiot. Why didn’t you say you were hit?” she found what she was looking for, pulling some out before digging through her own bag to find something to pack it with.

“Didn’t want to interrupt. You had those gormak runnin’ scared.” He tried to laugh but it ended on a groan. “Maybe I’m hurt worse than I thought.”

She removed her hand, slathering a rag in kolto. He took it from her still shaking hands, slipping it under his jacket to press against the wound better. “We’ve gotta get you back to Voss-Ka. C’mon.” She slid an arm under his free one and helped him to his feet. He stumbled. She gripped him tighter, fear giving her strength.

“Let go, Raii. I’m too heavy, if I go down there’s no way you can keep me up, I’ll just take you down with me.”

He tried to pull away, which earned him a soft smack to his uninjured shoulder. “I’m not letting go. I won’t let you fall.”

He sighed as they began the long slow trek back to their speeder. Stubborn little thing.

Part 1, 2, 3

They lay together a while later, listening to the sounds of camp finally settling down. The party still went on, but the sounds dulled as Mandos wandered off to their bunks, or just passed out from drink. Shy curled into Torian’s side, tracing scars she didn’t remember.

“You said you would explain this,” he touched the scar on her back, “and it’s match, when we weren’t busy.” He smiled at the thought of how she had looked riding him, he hadn’t wanted to stop her, but the scars were large, worrying.

Shy propped herself on an elbow, looking down at him. “I fought Arcann, we were on Asylum, I’ll tell you everything about that when we are home on Odessen. The scars… I lost focus…” She didn’t want to have to explain Valkorion right now. “The scars are from his lightsaber.”

Torian sat up, “How… you could have died… should have died from that kind of wound?” Confusion marred his features. His mind whirled through all the possible ways he could have lost her before ever even knowing she was still alive.

This part also ate a prompt I wrote XD

Part 1, 2, 3

Torian had seen the shuttle come in from his position at the edge of camp. He finished cleaning his rifle and made his way back to his tent, only entering long enough to grab his helmet before skirting the edge of camp back to the command tent. The energy of the camp had shifted. The battle was upon them, and the warriors were chaffing at the bit, eager to get to it.

His meeting with Mandalore earlier had gone well. He had asked permission to join the Alliance commander, sight unseen. If he was going to find Shy, or what at least what had happened to her, his best bet would be on the front lines. Shae had agreed to think it over, she wasn’t about to send one of her advisors off with someone unworthy of a Mando’s loyalty.

He set his helmet on a crate outside the command tent rather than strap it to his belt. The feel of it thumping against his thigh as he walked drove him crazy. Best to meet the Alliance commander without added distraction. He stepped inside, his gaze drawn to the figure standing opposite Mandalore. Catching Shae’s eye, he nodded absently, moving up behind the stranger, studying her. Her shoulders were squared, her stance relaxed, but there was an obvious readiness to it. Torian couldn’t help but stare as he approached. Red hair.

Since this got so long I’m breaking it up into parts. (also read more lol)

Part 1, 2, 3

Torian pulled on his gloves and reached for his helmet, stopping short, deciding to leave it. He picked up Shy’s locket and slipped it over his head instead. His only plans for the morning were some target practice, and the usual meetings with Mandalore. He was safe enough in camp. Shae had informed them at some point today the Outlander would arrive, then everything would be in place. The droid factories here on Darvannis were a target for the alliance commander, and Mandalore had agreed to assist.

Slinging his rifle over his shoulder he ducked out of the tent, heading for the makeshift range. He recited his remembrance as he walked, as had become his habit. It was almost relaxing for him. Just a little practice to make sure his weapon was sighted in, then he would head to the command tent for final plans while they waited on the Outlander.
