@blackhelms-helmtes asked me to write this prompt for Nino and Torian…Thank you!! :’D It’s been a little while so I feel a little rusty lol

28.Teaching the other something new

‘Can I see?’ Torian reached expectantly towards her but this time - perhaps for the first time - Nino batted at his hands;

‘No.’ she held the notebook protectively against her chest. It was a battle doomed to fail, especially when he looked at her just like that but if there was one thing that could win against her tendency to say yes to anything he asked that was her fear of embarrassment.

He’d have to pry the notebook off of her hands.

Which seemed to be the Plan B as he eyed her with a mock serious expression - trying hard not to smile - but as unusual as it was for him, he chose to be diplomatic instead of taking direct action,

‘I’ll make you…dinner.’ he tried to bargain, ‘Just for a peek.’

‘You already make me dinner.’

‘Yes - but also a dessert.’

Nino stopped to consider for a moment, it wasn’t like he’d make fun of her. And she really, really liked uj'alayi.

No. Don’t give in.

‘And..- ’ he continued, ‘ Don’t you wanna know if it’s all correct? Wouldn’t wanna learn something wrong, would you?’

Going for my perfectionism, that’s playing low.

‘I can always check the holonet.’

To that he had nothing to answer but perhaps that was the best strategy. Nino only had to take a look at his sad, unhappy face before she resigned with a heavy sigh. And to be honest, she did want for him to see it, it was written for him after all;

‘Fine, fine… Stop pouting.’ she held out the notebook. Torian smiled brightly and Nino thought she would endure any embarrassment in the galaxy just for that,

'Am I still getting that dinner?’

'Of course.’ he leaned in to kiss her, gently nibbling her lip, 'I was going to cook anyway’

Nino gasped, 'You fooled me!’

He actually looked shocked for a moment, 'I’d never! Just.. - you know what? Here.’ he held out the notebook, 'If you don’t want me to read, I won’t. All your choice.’

’… you can.’ Nino felt herself blush just to make the embarrassment worse. 'just don’t.. comment.’

'Okay.’ he nodded, 'I’ll keep it to myself.’

Then he took the notebook and got up swiftly from the table as Nino reached for her empty cup, looking into it in disappointment. No tea she could drown herself in. The sound of a page being flipped had never made her nervous like this. She wanted to lift her head and look at his face and she wanted to ask his opinion but she could do neither, frozen on the chair with an empty cup held tight between her hands. At last the silence was too much even for her, she tried to smile,

'I know they aren’t that good. I’m just practicing.. -’

'One question.’ he interrupted her with a strange, heavy voice; Nino only nodded,

'This all for me?’

Nino nodded again.

’.. A - are you sure?’

To this she had to look up and was immediately stunned by the expression on his face. Humans always had such expressive eyes and Nino had found it very off-putting at first, as it only made her feel like a complete outsider - alien.

Torian was different from the start.

Perhaps that was the first thing that got her attention about him. The stoic, clear way his eyes looked reminded her of her own kin, almost creating a familiarity instantly, Torian would make a wonderful chiss, much better than her at least. But sometimes… just sometimes he’d look at her with the most intense expression she had ever seen on anyone. The way he gazed at her, tender and warm enough to be felt like a physical touch on her face. She remembered the same expression from when he had confessed his love and told her he was hers. Forever. And now he was gazing down at her with the same expression, Nino found it hard to speak, a desperate desire to embrace him making her arms ache. If she knew a badly worded poem would touch him like this, she could have tried a hundred times.

'Of course.’ She breathed out finally, finding nothing witty or romantic to say, 'Who else.’

He only smiled in answer and did not comment as was her request but instead leaned in to take the pen,

'May I?’

'Of course.’ Nino said without thinking.

He cleared his throat and scribbled something on the paper,

'Just a few grammar mistakes. Otherwise good. Very good.’ he looked up from the notebook for a moment to her and wrote something fast.

'Here.’ he handed her the notebook and kept his hands within hers for a moment, holding tightly.

'What did you write?’

’ I…You’ll see. Try to memorize them, okay?’

Nino raised a brow, 'What are they?’

This time he was the one to blush, he took a deep breath and sat at the opposite end, letting go of her hand to look at his mug - empty - but grasped it just as well, the same way she had done few moments ago.

'Vows… Wedding vows. Not as good as your writing but’ he shrugged, 'will have to do.’

A Token of Appreciation ~

‘So how it fits? Comfortable?’ Torian asked once again; not bothering to hide the worry in his voice - after all it had taken everything he had to make the armor and if it wasn’t a good fit…that just meant all his work meant nothing…all the materials - beskar…not to mention the embarrassment.

Nino merely nodded in response, tired of saying the same things over and over again. He looked up and down over her and pulled at some spots to test the durability of the chest plate. It looked a good fit, snugly sitting over the lines of her body but still, no matter how many times she confirmed, yes it’s comfortable, he felt like it’d just fall apart on the field. He didn’t trust his skills with it and longer he thought, worse of a choice it seemed to let her wear it.

'It’s perfect.’ Nino tried again, 'Really. Would I ever lie to you?’

'Normally? No. About this? Maybe.’

'Torian…-’

'Don’t wanna hurt my feelings. I understand. But if it feels…off you have to tell me, cyar'ika. It’s a matter of life and death!’

This time Nino let herself sigh deeply, hearing the same sentence for the 10th time was too much even for her patience, making her mutter uncharacteristically rude,

'If you don’t stop saying this, I’ll hurt more than your feelings.’

'A promise?’

'More like a threat.’

'Whats the difference?’ he shrugged.

'Difference is that your Basic is worse than mine. - Wait. What are you holding anyway?’ she gestured at his clenched fist, suddenly appeared between them.

'Oh this?’ he smiled shyly this time - a cute smile, making him look much younger immediately - and opened his hand at once revealing a thin, delicate looking band. 'Remember the ring you gave me?’

- and she remembered. How could she ever forget it. Her brothers ring. A thin, delicate gold band given to him by their mother, it belonged to her own father and Nino had taken it from Shivan’s severed hand in the midst of a shock, the only possession that came from Chiss Ascendancy. The amblem of her mother’s house, Balkirsh neatly engraved. Nino had always felt closer to them so she gave it to him, saying it was the most precious thing she owned and he was the most precious person she knew, so it was only logical he had it.

Nino was nothing if logical, after all. But to be honest, she also wanted to get rid of it without having to put it away.

'Well…’ he continued, pulling her to the present, 'I thought I could make you something similar. There was some beskar, left from your armor. And.. -’ he stopped abruptly, seemingly at a loss at words, watching closely for her reaction instead.

'I love it. ’ Nino whispered without even taking a closer look and put the ring on, metal warmed by his palm. It was slightly tight but nothing unbearable with the simplest design she had ever seen. Perfect for her - them. The metal glinting dully under the yellow light. She could almost imagine him making it - so thin, perhaps to make it easier to wear under gloves, only accessory the elegant etching of some letters and a tiny knot on it, of the same material.

'Our vows.’ he explained, 'The second line at least. The whole thing didn’t fit.’ he chuckled nervously, 'Do you remember?’

’.. um.. Mhi solus… ah-’

'Dhar’ tome.’ he completed, 'Not bad. I thought it was..fitting. Not that I’d ever leave your side, of course. Something to remember. ’

'I don’t know what to say.. I - Thank you.’ Nino tried to say something charming but she could think nothing, staring at her hand mesmerized and the hand holding it, its light color a stark contrast to her own, but somehow fitting…beautiful.

'I’m glad. And I didn’t do everything.’ he admitted after a moment, 'It’s very difficult to - hmp-’ Nino cut his words at half with a kiss, only way she knew how to express what she was feeling. He gave a startled exhale against her mouth but responded eagerly after a brief moment, letting her hand go in favor of stroking her cheeks, coolness of the skin there comforting more than alien after all the times they spent side by side as he broke away and put his lips onto her neck, nuzzling affectionately. She gave a small giggle at that and he finally raised his head only to put it against hers, the proximity of them only enabling him to see her eyes, now thinner with a smile,

'So how it fits? Comfortable?’

'Oh yes very m.. - TORIAN!’

5) Who sleeps on the couch when they get into a fight? For anyone

Avatar

You only sent one in, and I’ve had an idea floating around for a while, so I’ll just write it out :)

“Dammit Yetter,” he snapped. His shirt drawer was empty, and one look at the dozing Corporal on the bed told him where the last clean one was. She was wearing it. Along with old workout shorts and-

Those were his socks.

It was summer. It was hot out. But Aric had a thing about sleeping shirtless. It… it just felt weird to him.

She cracked open an eye and the little sliver of blue stood out on her blonde fur. “What?”

“That was my last clean shirt.”

“Hm…” Aja stretched and curled back up. “Bummer.” She closed her eye and went back to sleep.

“I wanted to sleep in it.”

“Mm-hm.”

Aric growled in frustration. “Aja, you have to stop taking my clothes. That’s my shirt, I want to sleep in it. Now…” He opened the closet and set one of her tank tops next to her. “Can you please take it off?”

He’d said please. Gotten her a replacement shirt.

Her sour look told him that she wasn’t happy about being fully woken up. “It’s a shirt. We can’t always get what we want.”

“Exactly.” Aric gave her a Look.

Her expression darkened. “You know what? you’re right. You can sleep. Here. In the bed, diagonal, so you don’t have to worry about your feet hanging off.” Aja grabbed the quilt at the foot of the bed and shuffled past him. “I’ll be on the couch.”

Aric ran a hand down his face.

This was not how he’d intended this to go.

He shuffled through their tiny closet for one of his really old shirts, the sort with stains and holes from wear. Whatever had been on the front of it, perhaps something with the Rotworms, had long since faded past recognition. It was a little small in the shoulders.

The piling on the armpits wore at his fur.

The couch creaked down the hall as Aja settled onto it.

Aric stared at the bed, looked out the bedroom door, and looked back at the bed. He could be just as stubborn as her.

He woke up to a crack of light spilling into the bedroom from the refresher. Aric got up and slowly opened the door to find Aja sitting with her back against the wall, her knees drawn up to her chest and facing the toilet.

“Rookie?”

“I’ve felt like I’ve been about to throw up all day.” She looked up at him, regret on her face. “I took your shirt because it smelled like you and made me feel better.”

It wasn’t an apology. They were both too stubborn to apologize when they felt like they were in the right.

He nodded, understanding. He’d had her pillow clutched close. “Do you want me to sit with you?”

Aja shook her head. “And possibly upchuck on you?”

Aric sat down beside her. “Is this that stomach bug that was going around with the recruits?”

“I think so.” She leaned over and rested her head on his shoulder. “Where’d you get that shirt?”

“Old one. Back of the closet.” Aric draped his arm over her shoulders. “Those are always okay to steal.”

“Good.”

30 Days of Domestic Fluff

12- Cooking Together

Emija (Republic Trooper)

words: 748

(thought i could write a little something since its related to the last post :^)

‘This is nice.’ Emija heard Aric mutter as he sliced a ham into tiny pieces. Far too tiny but Emija didn't want to interrupt him yet. It was an achievement of its own to convince him to help her cook breakfast.

Not that he didn’t want to help - he had already offered to do all the cleaning afterwards - it was because he had a ridiculous thought that any food he tried cooking - or even helping - would end up unedible. Emija knew Aric had little to no cooking skills so she was sure he wasn’t being sarcastic when he said that. It was sort of endearing to her actually, this capable, self-assured man fumble around in the kitchen. He was so embarrassed by it too despite his excuse of eating pre-packed rations all his life, he always asked something when she entered the kitchen. It had become their place of sorts since no one in the squad preferred to use it.

That and the armoury.

‘I agree. How domestic of us.’ she laughed looking away from the eggs she was mixing just in time to see him smile brightly, looking down. A smile she didn’t see often enough, so she found herself looking at him fondly for a moment as he cut more of it. They almost looked like those married couples on the holoshows, a concept she had never witnessed in the home or any other place.

In a military issued republic ship of all places.

Emija suddenly thought of the first time they met, she could never imagine feeling such things for Aric, she thought he had hated her or even wanted to kill her the first time they got stationed together. Aric had been offended when she told him that after a long while. ‘I..know. I know I can be difficult but I could never think that, sir. Never. Not for any of the fellow soldiers here let alone…you.‘

She had felt guilty for a time then but it was forgotten she supposed considering the occasional glance he threw her way when he thought she wasn’t looking. And the hesitant was he flirted. She didn't know how could she attract the attention of someone like him but she was also not sure how sincere all it was.

But just the idea of…all the domesticity sounded very attractive.

If only she could know what he truly felt. Her inexperience showed in every way. Emija didn’t want to fall for him for him to leave her midway, and they were together in the mission too, it could get very awkward.

‘Here.’ Aric handed her the ingredient, pulling her from her troubling thoughts in the process, ‘What else?’

‘Uhm…- I..Just go and wait. It’ll be done shortly.’

He looked at her rather strangely for a second - almost disappointed - and didn’t move, He has such large eyes, Emija thought. Very pretty.

‘Thank you. I…ah…I think your eyes are pretty as well.’

So I said that out loud. ‘Not really…They are just regular chiss eyes.’

He shrugged, ‘Permmission to disagree, sir?’

‘Permisson denied.’ Emija chuckled, ‘Dont steal my compliment and find another one.’

‘Oh..- very well.’ he smiled charmingly, leaning back and giving her a once-over look and at that point, she was sure she was bright purple from head to toe,

‘I was joking..’ she muttered but to be honest with herself she was curious about what he would say,

‘I was not.’ he said and cleared his throat,

Here we go.

‘You’re a very good cook.’

Emija laughed at the ridiculousness of it, ‘Why, thank you!’

‘This means a lot coming from me you know’ he quipped, ‘I don’t say this to everyone.’

‘You really know how to charm a woman.’

He rolled his eyes, ‘I’m being thoughtful. If you blush more I’m afraid you’ll just pass out and we haven’t even had breakfast yet.’

And of course, to that sentence, Emija felt her face warm even more.

Aric leaned in looking at her face tenderly and cupped her cheek in one of his palms in an uncharacteristic forwardness, stroking the skin there. His hand was very warm and rough, despite the fur there. The simple, innocent gesture made Emija’s heart flutter wildly in her chest and from the look on his face he was a bit shocked by himself too, his eyes even larger. She took a deep breath and held his hand there.

Until a hesitant cough interrupted the moment.

Change of Clothes

‘ I don’t know Mako…This just feels unnatural. Odd. I feel like my movement is impaired already and I’m- ‘

‘You only put on a jacket, not a brick wall.’ Mako rolled her eyes at the hunter’s dramatic exclamation, pulling at the leather as if it’s weighing a ton. ‘Stop it’ she batted at her hands ‘You’ll stretch it. Plus, you can’t compete at the Great Hunt looking like..-’

‘Looking like?’

‘uh…- Vulnerable.’

‘Vulnerable?’

‘Yup. And you know what would people think? They would think they only allowed us because of…- because of your physique. We wouldn’t want that right?’

‘Of course.’ Mako felt a moment of guilt as Ris lowered her head and stared at her boots with a sullen face,  She’ll thank me later. She has to know a girl should have more than a leather bikini and a fur skirt. ‘You humans are ridiculous.’

‘Girl, I know. But trust me on this. You look like a professional hunter - now on the galaxy standards and not only Echan.’

‘Eshan.’

‘Right…’ There was a bit of awkward silence as Mako tried to think of something interesting to actually get the outfit. Leave something to the imagination?

‘Is it too heavy?’ she asked instead while Ris was still busy nitpicking at her reflection in the mirror. It was not much really. A brown -really stylish thanks to Mako- leather jacket with very small armour. It was all very light and standard but from the way she was acting anyone would think it to be made from mandalorian iron.

‘It’s okay.’ she shrugged, ‘I’m just not used to it.’

This Mako could understand…Far too well.

‘You know what? If you don’t want it, we don’t have to get it. You look professional enough with the one you have.’ Ugh…Might as well let it out… ‘I was just going to get it for you, you know - don’t look at me like that. You need new clothes too, boss. We’re a team right?’

‘I didn’t get that for you so you could get me something in retfdggf-’ ‘I know’ she clamped a hand over the hunter’s mouth before she could ramble on, ‘I know. Just…Let me do this okay? So we get to start this in equal standing. A fresh start. If you don’t like this one we could alw…- Ew!’ she hastily removed her hand wiping it on her pants, ‘Did you just lick my hand?’

Ris shrugged like it was the most ordinary thing, turning around again to look in the mirror again, ‘I don’t know why you were trying to suffocate me but - you have a point. I’m gonna get this one.’

‘So like I said,’ Mako continued ‘if you want something similar to- wait what?’ She had no idea why she had placed such sentimental values to a stupid jacket but appeal she had. But then again, emotions rarely made sense.

‘I wouldn’t know what to pick anyway. This is comfortable enough I suppose…’ then as she looked down to fiddle with the clasps of the pocket Mako sneaked close to the salesman to pay for the armour. Okay…she thought, this is a good start. I bet I can get her to wear actual armour by the end of the hunt.

Too bad there is no one to bet with…
