Masks
The galaxy is filled to overflowing with monsters. That is the way of living things, perhaps, that some will be destructive. Thinking beings become selfish and acquisitive, and we call that evil. Great beasts can lurk anywhere, crossing great deserts on leathery wings or lunging from asteroids in airless space. Ancient science can become a terror because we no longer understand it. But, the evil are still mortal, beasts can be avoided or slain, and ancient toys will eventually find they are past their time.
There are other terrors much greater, more eldritch. Things that are rents in the fabric of life, great wounds that bleed into the void, creating decay and death to feed themselves. They often wear different masks to walk amongst the living. Do they exist because of damage to the Force, or are they some form of parasite from beyond?
And can such things ever truly die?
The Eternal Alliance had not lived up to its name. First, the Fleet was destroyed, and the entity that could replace it refused. Its allies slowly drifted away, believing that the threat they had come together for was vanquished, that they could return to their homes, finally. The ancient war, pointless now, was gearing up to continue. The promise of the Alliance had been squandered.
When the remnants of Darth Nihilus returned, there were none that could oppose it.
A last ditch effort was still attempted, of course. Once again, different forces realigned to try to protect others, or to save themselves. Heroes and villains from many wars came to battle the threat. And once again, against all odds, a small force was able to reach its throne room on the flag ship. Darth Jadus. Satele Shan. Senya Tirall. The rest had fallen, or were holding the line so that these three could confront the monster from the past.
Two of them felt those deaths far more keenly than the third, and hesitated, just for a moment, as they entered the throne room. Jadus, though, his plans in ruins because of this upstart, acted more rashly than was his way, striking quickly. He hurtled forward, wreathed in lightning, the very pinnacle of Sith power.
The thing rose, languidly, from the throne, walking over the decaying armor and dust that was all that was left of of Jadus.
It had been hungry.
Satele and Senya struck together, not wanting to repeat Jadus’ mistake. The figure easily deflected Satele’s blow with its own lightsaber, and with a gesture, hurled her into a bulkhead with a sickening crunch. Still, in that moment, Senya was able to strike. They had known that one of them might have to be sacrificed for the other to be in position, and it had worked. She had won the day, ending the monster once more.
The thing looked down to its injury, the lightsaber impaling it. Then, it laughed.
Laughed in a broken, familiar voice.
“No.”
“Oh, yes,” said the thing standing in front of her. “Did you think that would work again, ‘Mother’?”
She was thrown back, losing her lightsaber, finally ending pinned to the same wall that had broken Satele. Nihilus’ gloved hand took the hilt and deactivated the weapon, tossing it aside, followed by the heavy robes the thing had worn.
Finally, it reached up to the mask and pulled it away. Senya heard her daughter’s voice, overlapping with something much older, saying, “A body so powerful, left with no spirit of its own.” Her mouth curled into a smile, then. “Thank you for this gift, all of you. Together, nothing will stop us.”
The thing that had returned with her daughter’s face laughed, and all Senya could do was scream.
Mental Crop Rotation
When farmers grow the same crop too many years in a row, it can leave their soil depleted of minerals and other nutrients that are vital to the health of their fields.
To avoid this, farmers will often alternate the crops that they grow because some plants will use up different minerals (such as nitrogen) while other plants replenish those minerals. This process is known as “crop rotation.”
So the next time you find that you need to step away from a project to work on something else for a while, don’t beat yourself up for “quitting” that project. Give yourself permission to practice “mental crop rotation” to maintain a healthy brain field.
Because I’ve found that when that unnecessary guilt and pressure are removed from the process, a good mental crop rotation can help you feel more energized and invigorated than ever once you’re ready to rotate back to that project.
: A crucial part of crop rotation is that the field is let fallow sometimes. You plant what’s called a “cover crop”, which is something you don’t expect to harvest– it’s there for its roots to hold the soil in place, and often it’ll be what’s called a nitrogen-fixer, i.e. a plant that can pull nitrogen out of the air and fix it into the soil with its roots (but sometimes it won’t, sometimes it’s really just there to shelter the soil surface), and then you’ll till in that cover crop, or let the frost kill it and the stalks lie as mulch, and then you’ll rotate productive crops back into that field the next season.
It’s important, though, to understand that during the fallow period, no nutrients are removed from that ground, and nothing is expected of it. Whatever the land grows then, it keeps, and it gets tilled back in or decomposes in place, to return its energy to the earth.
We’re not allowed, in our current society, to just let our minds be fallow for a bit, to produce nothing for export, to make nothing that can be sold. But it’s part of good land stewardship, to give every field time when it doesn’t need to give you anything back.
So yes, grow and produce different things from time to time, rotate them around your mind and exercise different mental muscles, take different things from your creative processes, yes– but also, give yourself a fallow spell now and again, and let the field of your mind grow things for itself to keep, to break down and save for later.
Positive mental health AND agriculture??!?

The fae smiled, sharply: “Give me your name, child.”
“Uhhhhh. Stick.”
“What.”
“Does Leaf work better? I’m just kinda looking around this clearing. Look, I’m trans, I haven’t decided on one yet, I’m throwing some spaghetti at the wall, you know how it is.”
Fae are born with features sharp and narrow, yet this one seems to soften as Moss looks at it. Its grin— sharp, teeth gleaming, its eyes— cutting, searching, the jut and pull of its jaw enough to scratch glass. It does not blink. Branch does not blink. It softens.
“I said, give me your name, child.”
“I still haven’t picked one,” Grass defends, even now still hoping for a way out of a faeries deal.
“No. But your parents did. Give me your name, child, and it shall no longer be yours. The entity of your name shall no longer exist, and you will be free for whichever name you choose— Leaf, or Stick, or Lichen.”
“…oh.” says Petal, and in the next moment a name falls from their lips. It is not their name. It never has been. The fae is sharp and cutting and witty, that moment of softness an imagined slight.
“Very well, child. Be warned of mushroom circles, should you lose your name again.”
“Okay,” Mushroom smiles, and the Fae pulls itself away from their reality in a swirl of feathers and silk.
When they go home for the first time in two months, their mother frets over them in a way she had not since they were a child, and she calls them by no name at all.
Goddamn. This is my favorite version of ‘faeries take your name’, that’s it, we can all go home now.
Adding Sound Files to Macros
okay okay okay I saw there was some interest in this after my last post so I made a little tutorial
You got to this link on wowhead -> https://www.wowhead.com/sounds
Search what ever you want in the search bar. I’ll use Thalyssra as my example! It should bring up a list of sound files as shown below.
Click on any of the names to take you to the sound file itself. You want to click on the part circled in red!!
Clicking on it should give you this smaller window as shown below
You want to copy and paste that into your WoW game. Not every sound file on wowhead will actually play so you can make a test macro to listen to it in game! Also - the sound itself will only play on your end of the computer so no one else can hear it unfortunately but for me it’s really fun and makes my characters feel more alive when I play the game!!
I’ve included an example of one of the macros I’ve written!
(#showtooltip = even though it’s a macro, I can see what the contents of the spell that I want to cast is)
(/cast Metamorphosis = makes my character cast the spell that I want)
(/script PlaySound(86895) = the command to play the in game sound file! This one is a line from Portal Keeper Hasabel, a raid boss that has some really cool one-liners that I thought fit my demon hunter)
And I do want to say I’m not the greatest at macros so anything beyond this is just out of my knowledge. I hope this was helpful though to anyone interested :D
I got really excited and wrote a tutorial of how to make voice lines play in WoW using macros please read it

“You can go and handle those who abandoned you.”
This strip spoke to my soul.
Hey guys, where’s that post about how renfaire workers will be seeing so many Witcher cosplays with old Danerys wigs this year? I need to send it to people.
Here’s my link: https://elfwreck.tumblr.com/post/190206210149/tastefulcrucifixparty-there-was-a-facebook-post

Thank you everyone!
The original Facebook post is really cool too!
INCLUSIVE KINDNESS AND HUCKING SHIT AT PEOPLE YAAAAS.
We all eat lies when our hearts are hungry.
Anthe leaned forward, elbow resting on the table and hands clasped as he stared coldly at the top of the table he was sitting at. Despite trying to cut off all his ties to his guardians he’d gotten a message from them. And naturally, he’d decided to read it. But of course there was no remorse on their part. They blamed everything on him. They called him ungrateful. And part of him wanted to believe it. Something in him thought that they were right. At least in part.
Ranul’f came over, returning from the bar and placed a bottle of rum in front of him. “Looks like you could use it tonight.” Anthe nodded his thanks. He shifted in his chair and took a drink from the bottle. “You going to tell me what’s eatin’ at your or just stew there while I get bored and decide to pick a fight?”
“Got a message.” Anthe scowled as he leaned back, brow furrowed in frustration. “Folks think I’m an ungrateful ass for leaving.” Ranul’f let out a laugh.
“Anthe, from all the stuff you’ve told me you’ve earned that right. You don’t owe ‘em anything.”
“Feels like I do. They certainly think I do.”
Ranul’f shook his head. “We all eat lies when our hearts are hungry.” Anthe raised a brow at him. “Hey, I can be deep sometimes. It’s something my grandfather used to say. But point being, you’re looking for family, Anthe. Part of you wants them to be right because you feel like if the problem was you it’d be fixable. But it’s not. And it isn’t.”
“Hmmm.” Anthe sighed softly. “Probably right.”
“You know I am.” Ranul’f smiled and playfully punched his shoulder. “Come on big guy.”
Anthe offered him a small smile. “You’re right. I’m just used to thinkin’ of them as family. But they’re not.”
Ranul’f smirked. “Family is who we pick Anthe, don’t let ‘em get to you.”
Like a pit of irritated beasts, the court devolved into chaos once more. Garrosh sat back in his chair, snickering to himself, his amber gaze darting across the twisted visages. Baine looked at him in obvious confusion, and then back at the Celestials. Taran Zhu simply shook his head at the uproar, not attempting to quell it. Kairoz’s smirk widened into a full grin, as Chromie simply looked at him, frowning slightly. “Congratulations, brother,” she chimed, “you have doomed us all. You and your protégé-“ “As opposed to you and your protégés?” Kairoz trilled in turn. Garrosh watched the two bronze dragons bicker, an empty, lopsided smile still on his lips. They continued their back and forth but the outrage in the court drowned their whispers out entirely. He could make nothing out, nor did he even truly wish to try. Days, weeks, years of threats to his life in vivid detail, certainly nobody in the court could give him a never before heard take.
Dungeons & Dragons dragons by age category:
0-10 Years: Basically a giant fire-breathing housecat. Has a big ego, but rarely plans beyond the next meal. Distract with something shiny.
10-100 Years: The firepower of a small army paired with the emotional keel of a somewhat sheltered teenager. Has grand ambitions, but makes poor life decisions; has probably fucked a bard.
100-1000 Years: Remember Smaug’s boast? The unabridged version from the book, not the cut-up version from the movie? Yeah, that. Legitimately scary, but not quite as clever as it thinks it is. Decent “final boss” material.
1000+ Years: A shapeshifting world-class sorcerer with superhuman intelligence, unlimited resources, and a lot of time on its hands. Some decide to impersonate gods; most are motivated primarily in terms of “hey, you know what would be hilarious?”. Distract with something shiny.
The people who are feeling called out by this post are either dragons or bardfuckers – I’m not sure which.
the difference between dragons and bardfuckers being?
Distract with something shiny 😂 (saves for future use😈)
When a character doesn’t realize they’ve been, like, shot or whatever and they hand brushes against their side and comes away wet with blood, and they’re just staring at it like wtf is this and then their knees just totally give out on them and they sink down, maybe gasping a little as the reality finally hits them. That’s good stuff.
I see that, and raise you a character who knows they’ve been shot, but waits until the rest of their crew is out of sight to put their hand against the slowly spreading stain of blood on their shirt, then trying to steady their breathing so they can follow without letting on how injured they are.
Okay but like the character who doesn’t realize they’ve been hurt trying to see if everyone else is okay only to slowly realize that everyone is looking at them with mounting horror. Then they touch their side to find it’s wet and oh no
all 3 of you are evil but i admire, respect, and fear you
Some thoughts on Force-healing on both sides of the Force:
When you think about it, Force-healing (and indeed any kind of magical healing) is at once a very natural and a profoundly unnatural thing. On one hand, it’s returning a body to its natural, working order. On the other, it’s reaching into someone’s body and controlling the flesh, regenerating so many cells out of nothing that it’s almost a bending of reality.
And I feel like this would influence the underlying philosophies of Light Side and Dark Side healing. To a Light Side healer, Force-healing is a warm, soothing hand, urging all the damaged parts to settle back into the way they used to be. It’s a gentle nudge to the body, right at the cellular level, speeding up the natural healing processes a thousandfold. Light Side healing is an act of undoing - reversing damage, taking away the broken and jagged parts until everything’s whole again.
Dark Side healers look at it differently. Regrowing torn organs, mending cut flesh, regenerating cells - all of that should be impossible. So they’ll damn well do the impossible. They’ll twist reality itself to bring their patients back. A Sith healer’s touch is as warm as a Jedi’s, but it’s a different kind of heat, it’s that burning ache you get when you care for someone so much that it hurts. A Sith healer’s touch is a fierce passion that forces your body back together,.
That kind of passion only comes with complete conviction in what you’re doing. So Sith healers need to really, really care about their healing - whether that’s just ‘I care about myself/my cause so I need my allies in working order to support me’ or ‘I love this person and refuse to lose them.’ The more you care, the better you heal.
I’m not sure how this might affect their abilities in practice - possibly Light Side healers can more easily heal minor injuries and illnesses, because those are simple to remove from the body, while Dark Side healers find it harder to get worked up enough about such things to heal them. No headaches, backaches and colds if you have a Jedi healer handy. Dark Side healing, though, would probably be faster, and better at healing massive injuries that people should rightly die of - because a Dark Side healer refuses to hear that anything is impossible.

*begrudgingly reblogs while grumbling* this is exactly my aesthetic
That last one is FRISKY. I literally leaned back a little. BOTH HANDS? And that gentle glide over the top before the clasp? -fans self-
How dare you put this kinky hand holding on my dash? That little grope at the end was TOO MUCH
i seriously fainted at that last one. where are your gloves people! is this pornhub?
