btw i don’t care if Avery or Charlotte broke any rules that led to them getting banned because it is clear as day to anybody who uses this website that that is not actually why they got nuked. they were nuked for being trans women, & that’s it. i’ve reported quite literally hundreds if not thousands of blogs for harassing trans women, personal rape threats in my inbox, terfs telling people to kill themselves, etc and very little of it ever went anywhere.

it is crystal clear to everybody with their eyes open that these young women were banned for being well-known and beloved members of the trans community, and this is especially clear with the flagrant & unpunished transmisogynistic bigotry i see (and face personally!) on this website every day. there are terfs on this website who i have personally been reporting since 2014. there are people who have publicly accused me of pedophilia and wished the death penalty on me for being trans who are still doing the same things to other trans girls every day.

nobody stop talking about this. everybody keep talking about this until they have to make a comment. this is unacceptable & if it is left unaddressed it should follow Mullenweg for the rest of his career.

Hey, do y’all remember that time we (trans women) told y’all that stubbornly using gender neutral language to refer to trans women is an act of misgendering and transmisogyny in and of itself and y’all said we didn’t know what we were talking about?

“Gender neutral address as the formal default should be the standard because it helps desegregate our society” and “Conservative bigots, when confronted with a trans woman who is so visibly feminine they can’t misgender her as a man without dissonance, will use gender neutrality as their next resort to avoid recognizing her existence” are things which can be simultaneously true.

In 2 weeks, my friend’s daughter will lose her rights.

My friend’s college-age kid is currently transitioning, and on August 29th, her name change will go through. On paper, she’ll be a woman.

My friend, the mother, is angry and heartbroken.

And you know what? So am I.

This is what she had to say:

“Today, as [redacted-male name], he exists and has rights as a person. Come August 29th and the official name change to [redacted-female name], she and the rights she currently enjoys today will disappear into thin air.

Seriously, she was over here today and we’re just chatting, getting excited about the name change and shit, then I just stared at her. RIGHT NOW she is a person. Two weeks? She won’t exist.”

That’s what it means to be trans in America, folks. It means making a choice. Do you choose to live with a full set of rights? Or do you choose to live in a body that matches who you are and with documents to back it up?

For one thing, that should open your eyes to how crucial it is for a trans person to transition. No trans person goes into it without being well aware of the discrimination, hatred, and potential violence that awaits them in the process and on the other side. But they do it anyway because that’s how important it is.

And for another, it should appall you that a person can have a full set of rights one day, and then with the stroke of a pen, be reduced to someone whose civil rights are a matter of heated and often violent debate. From a citizen like you and me to less than. Other. Second class.

All because they want to be who they really are.
