i absolutely support march for our lives but please recongize how racism comes into play. the media never supported BLM like this, the public never did, and sure as hell not everyone marching today did. if you’re out there preaching for keeping kids safe from guns, u better not be forgetting all the black kids who have lost their lives to them from police.
The March For Our Lives kids specifically mentioned this and included people of color who didn’t have a platform to participate and speak? That’s literally the entire point of this?
…..we know that. But when black children have been screaming from the rooftops since the 1980’s for the police to not kill our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters it’s discouraging that we need for white people to agree with us for us to be heard. We support the March more than anyone because our communities are affected everyday. And everyone knows that when black kids organize we are labeled as thugs and are radicalized. Not “the kids of the future” and history makers. Now this violence is affecting white kids, now it’s a time for change. We don’t want to have to lean on y’all’s white privilege for our voices to be heard. A father of two just got killed by cops last Sunday and it’s still not public news!!! And he was unarmed and in his backyard! We’re not upset at the march. We are upset at these fuckers out here who don’t even care, they just want views on their fucking snapchats. Most of these people do not care about gun violence because they would be supporting black children the same way!!!
I’m not arguing with you about the discrepancy in media representation and I completely agree with you. I was simply pointing out that the kids of this march explicitly went out of their way to address these problems and raise awareness. They put their privilege to good use and the entire march addressed these very problems. The past can’t be changed and it absolutely sucks it took people with privilege to shine a light on those abuses, but the march did very much make a point of inclusivity so that all voices can be represented going forward.
There’s also quite a bit of irony in that media outlets like CNN are now explicitly reporting about women of color who spoke at the march and how their stories have gone underrepresented. This clearly accomplished something and addressed the very grievance we both have, so I really don’t know what we’re disagreeing on?
OMG. Yes.
Plus we could get Shuri supplying her with ridiculous gadgets, and her constantly giving reports to Okoye and the rest of the Dora Milaje, while T’Challa tries to calm his nerves and not freeze every time they do whatever Shuri’s version of Skype is.

choose a partner who is good for you. not good for your parents. not good for your image. not good for your bank account. choose someone who’s going to make your life emotionally fulfilling.
