Star Trek makes me soooo crazy cuz you got Picard saying things like "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose."

And Data saying things like "I would gladly risk feeling bad at times, if it also meant that I could taste my dessert."

And Bashir saying things like “You can't go through life trying to avoid getting a broken heart. If you do, it'll break from loneliness anyway."

And Odo sayings things like "It has been my observation that one of the prices of giving people freedom of choice is that sometimes they make the wrong choice."

And I’m just supposed to be normal about it???

Honestly, that scale actually makes perfect sense, especially for a sixty person dance crew. You want people who are really good at what they do, but not who will attempt to stand out and affect the cohesion of the group. Too fresh and not fresh enough are both negative qualities. And Jason is just saying that an 8 represents the ideal amount. That’s actually pretty deep, and suggests a collectivist instinct in him.

And yes, that means that Jason is effectively saying that Michael is too smart for his own good, to his detriment.

I saw this and went “oh, so it works like the pH scale”… then realized that means that he’s calling Michael basic.

He’s also inadvertently practicing Virtue Ethics.  The theory of virtue ethics states that every virtue, like generosity, exists on a spectrum somewhere between two vices, like stinginess and being so generous you harm yourself.

Not really inadvertently - The Good Place was essentially a grad-level virtue ethics class disguised as a sitcom.

Tolkien describing Elvish woman: The Lady was beautiful and pale with long silver hair and wore some kind of flowing garnment. anyway back to the men

Me: ok cool she sounds pretty can I hear more about her-

Tolkien describing Elvish man: FINDOR SON OF FINLOTH WAS SO FAIR AND GRAVE THAT THE SWANS DID HIS BIDDING. HE WAS TALL AND STRONG AND WIELDED A HUNTING KNIFE. HIS DARK HAIR FLOWING IN THE WIND, HE TOOK A LAST STAND AT THE PEAK OF MORGOTH'S SEX DUNGEON WHERE HIS GOLDEN-HAIRED ELVEN COMPANION HAD LONG FALLEN PREY TO THE DARK LORD'S WILES

Me: ok so you're going through a lot. I get it. It's fine my man

one of the coworkers I assumed didn't like me - which made all those outings a bit uncomfortable - took me aside last night, put her hand sort of on my shoulder, looked me intensely in the eyes and said:

"just so you know, I do like you. I just have autism."

also, one of the guys was getting very comfortable - too comfortable for most people - and he kept resting his arm over the back of my chair, and so at some point when I turned to her to ask about something mundane she interrupted me:

"I see his arm on your chair," very intense eye contact, which I understand was specifically for my benefit "if it makes you uncomfortable let me know and I will tell him off. I literally don't care what he thinks and it will be easier for me than you because I'm incapable of feeling awkward."
