Hans was not able to snatch him also when he was escaping (for... various reasons) and even if he would be able to take a horse on a completely unknown ship, he wouldn't had been able to find him anyway. When an attack on the castle occured, Sitron saw fire and explosions, panicked, destroyed his stall and ran for the meadows. And that's where he was found by his new owner.
Now they both have a Very Important Job.
Hans doesn't know what happened. When he tried to check later, he was only informed that Sitron is nowhere to be found.
