Not to be Anthony Fantano and not to yuck other people's yum, but I just finished listening to SOPHIE's posthumous album and I found it to be really boring. I appreciate wanting to bring life to SOPHIE's unfinished works, but no one can create the kinds of soundscapes SOPHIE could when she was alive. And most of the features on the album were so forgettable, like you couldn't have gotten Arca? Shygirl I thought would've for sure been a feature, but she was missing too. Kero Kero Bonito? CHARLI XCX WAS LITERALLY RIGHT THERE, IT WOULD'VE BEEN PERFECT. But at least some of SOPHIE's influence will be heard by new listeners and inspire more artists to make challenging art that goes against the grain like she did.
