iggy linetti(-diaz)

so @cicinicole-14 sent me a short prompt list from which i selected “i asked you to babysit one time and now my child keeps asking when you will spend time with them again” and i swear i triiiiiiiied to follow it but this oneshot just. got away from me completely
anyway enjoy some domestic dianetti + iggy linetti that ends on a super heartfelt note that i need to see become canon !!!!
(charles and gina would totally tell this kid to call rosa “ro-ro” tbh this is basically canon)
((edit: alright idk what the absolute fuck happened to the formatting on mobile, so here’s the ao3 link for any mobile readers having problems !!!))

Iggy Linetti is six years old when her teacher tells her to make a list of her favorite things.

“Your favorite things can be anything—a toy, a game, a feeling, a person,” her teacher says, standing before the kindergarten class. “It can be whatever you want.”

There are supposed to be five things and Iggy has to write them down all by herself. It’s kind of a big deal. And Iggy likes to point out big deals, just like her mommy likes to do, to show other people how special she is.

So, she tells Ro-Ro when she walks her home from school.

“That is a big deal,” Ro-Ro says, with big eyes and a kind smile that her mommy said are really rare! It makes Iggy feel even more special. “Good thing you’re a good writer.”

“Really?” Iggy asks, swinging her and Ro-Ro’s interconnected hands between them as the sun passes behind one of the tall buildings across the street.

“Your letter assignments always look neat,” Ro-Ro says. “From ‘A’ to ‘Z.’”

It’s in that moment, with a warm pride blossoming in her chest, that Iggy decides Ro-Ro is definitely one of her favorite things.

Amy will always remember the day Jake came out to her.

It’d been hot on the heels of Rosa’s own coming out to thesquad, as he tried to help her navigate a complicated sea of emotions with herparents. He came home tired, stressed, and emotionally drained, plopping face downon the couch and groaning into the cushions with his feet in Amy’s lap.

When she finally goaded him into sitting up, they begantalking about other coming out horror stories they’d heard, about people theypersonally knew and people they’d never met before, about sexuality andexploration and questioning and then it just slipped out—

“Ames, I think…I think I’m also bi.”

Jake held his breath and watched her face carefully, so Amycupped his cheek with her hand and smiled, because she’d always had a feeling, and she held him close.

“Is that okay?” he asked, despite the clear message ofapproval in her body language, and her smile widened.

“Of course it is,” she said. “It’s who you are. And I love who you are.”

“I love you, too,” he said, and they kissed, triggering boththe familiar electricity to course through her veins and a new cloud ofuncertainty to hang over her head.

Amy will always remember the day Jake came out to her, because it’s the day she came back out to herself.

Dianetti at the bar after the Rosa In Danger // hugging Gina&Amy episode

firstly–this oneshot is dedicated to the victims of school shooting in santa fe, texas earlier today (may 18th). rest in peace. ♡ i hope to honor your memory respectfully through my vote this year at midterms.
secondly, this is post 5x20 dianetti and a companion piece to my peraltiago oneshot from last week, tho both can be read independently from the other. mentions of gun violence/mass shootings ahead.

Today was a bad day.

Well, Gina supposes, it could’ve been worse—much worse.

Worse than the squad hanging out last-minute at Shaw’s,their go-to watering hole after the good and bad and everything between; worsethan watching Amy, still with tears in her eyes she denies are there, downing drink after drink, only to tearfullystumble across the bar into Jake’s arms, a strangely saddening and entertaining sight at the same time;worse than sharing the booth with just Rosa now, whom Gina tucks carefully intoher side, arm around her shoulders.

Rosa.

She’s alive. That’s one point in the “why today was good”category. And she’s unharmed—another point.

But the fact that she’d just been at the scene of a shooting—normalfor cops—at a hotel—not normal for anyone, cop or civilian—well. That’s a lot of points under the “why today was bad”category.

Today was a subparday, at best.

Gina voices this reasoning to Rosa.

paraltiago, drink me

THIS PROMPT IS A MONTH OLD I’M SORRYYYYY BUT KUDOS TO NBC FOR PICKING UP B99 AND SHOUTOUT TO THIS FANDOM FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN AAAHHHHH!!!
prompt taken from this list. apparently this list is just for drabbles. i wrote a whole oneshot. whoops.
post-5x20 angst bc i’m still not over this ep. beware of mass shooting mentions up ahead.

Per Rosa’s request, the squad quickly finds themselveswrapped up in the energetic atmosphere of Shaw’s, drinking away the terrors ofthe day. Jake, unable to quite shake all the anxiety yet, watches Rosa, hiseyes following her all the way to the booth she’s occupying quietly with Ginaand Amy in the corner.

“Diaz is safe now, Peralta,” Holt says, snapping Jake out ofhis nervous daze. “It’s a time for celebration.”

“Yeah,” Jake says, turning his attention to Holt. “Yeah, you’reright. I guess I just haven’t wrapped my brain around that yet.”

“Today was quite complicated,” Holt says, sipping his drink.“All we can do is be there for Diaz, if she ever chooses to open up to us.”

Jake exaggerates a fake gag. “All these emotions are makingme sick.”

“It’s not my ideal pastime, either,” Holt reminds, thenlooks beyond Jake. “I believe Santiago requires your attention.”

At that, Jake turns, only to find Amy weaving through theclusters of bar-goers gathered here and there between himself and her. Shestumbles ever so slightly, holding an empty shot glass, and Jake recognizes thefrown etched onto her face.

It’s six-drink-Amy.

let the years we’re here be kind

i've been a sad and emo lump for the last week and a half so i projected myself onto amy bc grieving isn't always for the dead and this happened asdfghjkl;
content warning for lots of mentions of mental illness and its effects and stuff. this is literally just. pure peraltiago angst. takes place between s4 and s5. title comes from "north" by sleeping at last
(also read on ao3)

The first time Amy walks through the front door of their apartment alone after Jake’s sent to prison, the rest of the squad is there.

After Jake had been whisked away from them in the courtroom, with a wild panic in his eyes, Amy’s ears burned in that illogical way that meant someone was thinking or talking about you—except when she turned back to look at the others after a solid thirty seconds of staring at the closed door Jake and Rosa had just been taken through, she found herself to be the center of attention.

(Her eyes tried to put out the flames in her ears and cheeks, producing fat, heavy tears that started coming and wouldn’t stop coming, and still haven’t stopped coming.)

So, she’s far from alone when she crosses the threshold, stopping at the shoe rack. Captain Holt hovers protectively behind her, and the skin on the back of her neck burns from the intense stare she knows he’s watching her with. She takes a few slow steps further into the apartment.

“Your shoes, girl,” Gina cuts through the silence, carefully and more gently than Amy’s ever heard from her before.

Amy stops again, but this time, she forces herself to turn around and meet the four stares locked on her. Terry and Charles had just shown up when they’d gotten to the apartment complex, with a fear in their eyes akin to Jake’s.

(It’s then that she thinks maybe the panic in his eyes hadn’t just been for himself, but for her, and how she, how they, could survive another separation, in this cruel, cruel universe that never fails to build a seemingly impenetrable wall between them at the most crucial times.)

“Thank you for coming,” she says quietly, her voice shaky and broken, but she forces herself to proceed. “But you don’t need to stay. I’m fine.”

Terry, Gina, and Charles all look to Captain Holt for some sort of response. When he doesn’t give an immediate one, Terry steps up. “We just—wanted to be with you.”
