HELLENIC TERFS MAKE NO DAMM SENSE HERE'S WHY

My references: I live on terf island. Currently transitioning.

Throughout my time spent in Hellenic spaces I was not able to avoid transphobia. There are an uncomfortable number of  transphobic practitioners who claim authority as high priestesses and powerful sorcerers who line their TikToks and Tumblr posts with the cultural appropriation and gender essentialist rhetoric. In Hellenic spaces many of them also claim to worship goddesses like Artemis and Aphrodite. Like all of TERFism it doesn’t make sense.

Artemis I can somewhat understand. If a TERF wanted a “women only” space, Artemis would be an appropriate option. Artemis was a goddess of chastity and was very protective of it much like how many of us were taught to protect our virginity as children and teens, she was also very supportive to women, particularly to midwives and those who were pregnant but even in her mythology Artemis also had men as followers including Daphnis and Scamandrius. The hero Siporites of Crete was even turned into a woman by Artemis which can be interpreted idyllically as the hero transitioning with the help of Artemis. If Artemis in her mythology wasn’t exclusive to women then it shouldn’t be now.

Aphrodite is a bit of a different case. Aphrodite is worshipped more as an archetype of beauty or “divine femininity”. TERFS believe Aphrodite to be the “perfect woman” “so how can anyone understand but women?” This ignores the fact that Aphrodite herself had a male presenting form Aphroditus. In whatever form Aphrodite takes, she is a deity of beauty and love. Ancient Greece had many different words for love: Agape (love for all), Eros (romantic/sexual), Philia (deep friendship), Ludus (playful love), Pragma (longstanding love/devotion), Philautia (self love), Storge (familial love), and Mania (obsession). Aphrodite today represents an all-encompassing love including all of these possibilities. It's just common sense to know that love in it’s many forms is not exclusive to cisgender women so neither is Aphrodite. Using her likeness to promote premeditated hate goes against who Aphrodite is at her core.

Many pagan TERFs have their own version of a persecution complex. They recognise how they themselves are a part of a marginalised community both religious and gender based and that history and personal experience fuels their overly defensive behaviour. When other marginalised communities mix with theirs it feels like an attack on their safe spaces. They use their personal experiences and community history to justify their bigoted attacks on other marginalised people. All the while pushing up a facade of spiritual authority so their ideals can’t be questioned.

It makes zero sense and I mean who is surprised?

Grow up and do better. Your NLOG phase was over a decade ago.

So last night my neighbours we're being really noisy, playing loud ass music and banging on the walls because they're children.

Well it was 11 ish, that was still going on and I was wide awake so I said a prayer to Hermes asking for a peaceful sleep and to shut up my neighbours if he could.

Pretty much immediately, everything went quite and I nodded off as soon as my head hit the pillow... So uhh thank you.

Zeus is so problematic. He waters our crops, administers justice, maintains order, provides refuge, demands hospitality, and overseas the household among many other, terrible things.

How dare a king of gods behave as a king and a god.

Uh yeah and raped absolutely every woman he could find.

Not fucking sorry that’s a deal breaker. A god or a king worthy of my respect would never be a rapist.

Myths are allegories and reflect the people who wrote them more than the gods themselves. If you want to study gods, study their cults and how people actually worship the gods and what ancient people think of the Theoi.

Educate yourself or please sincerely fuck off from reblogging my posts. Reblogging the post from someone who is just into Greek myths as fictional entertainment and commenting your thoughts is chill, but reblogging a post from a Hellenic Polytheist and shitting on their belief?

Fuck off.

What was that I said about projecting human morality onto timeless ancient beings again

The stories told about Zeus did intimidate me from working with him and I think that's valid to feel but yeah those stories are only a part of who they are as deities and you should definitely look at who worshipped them and how and what for.

Context is an important learning point for every subject.

I MADE THAT BANANA BREAD I WAS TALKING ABOUT!

My phone clearly isn't good at taking pictures but fuck me this tasted good. And there's plenty left for an offering.

The only problem was the bananas weren't ripe enough to mash smoothly so the batter got a lil chunky.

For a little magic I tried focusing on the intentions within the ingredients: travel protection, and grounding.

(I have a tendency to hyperfixate and completely forget everything around me so who knows if it worked).

Just a lil' protection bottle

A few weeks ago I was on a walk and I found a nice bottle and took it home. I was still wondering what to do with it when I noticed how much feverfew was blooming in the garden so I decided to dry some and turn it into a protection bottle.

What You Need (from bottom to top)

  • A jar/bottle (vessel)
  • Some sandalwood incense (and the ashes)
  • A sigil of strength/protection
  • Salt (clarity)
  • Basil (ward off negative energy)
  • Tigers eye and/or Obsidian (grounding)
  • Bay (good luck)
  • Feverfew (protection from illness and harm)
  • Black wax to drip seal if safe (if not just make sure you can seal it tightly)

Method

Before you begin, cleanse your space and vessel with your sandalwood incense and dust the inside with the ashes.

Add all of your components into the vessel, sigil first, repeating the phrase of your sigil ie:

"I am stronger than negativity"

Once everything is in, line the rim of the bottle with a part of you (hair/spit/sweat/tears if you want to be dramatic) and seal it shut.

Leave it by your altar until it's purpose is fulfilled.

Happy Summer Solstice ☀️

I woke up at 5:30 this morning to the sound of a large bee trying to get into my room so I'm taking that as a sign to spend this holiday with Apollo.

I've cleansed everything with some music and lavender incense. Also my garden rose fully bloomed so I took it and dried the petals for his offering.

Not sure what else to do besides this since life is exhausting atm... knowing the UK it'll be cloudy during the eclipse too but I got other things I can do.

☀️Have a happy solstice and stay safe☀️

Finally decided on something to do for my quarantined summer☀️

I'm officially done with my first year of Uni, all my work has been submitted so I'm now on break until September. I had no idea what to do but today I finally decided on something!

I'm going to make a personal book of associations (alchemic and intuitive). Basically I'm making a personal encyclopedia separate from my spells and other things I've written in my current grimoire.

So far I'm gonna write about:

  • The Elements
  • My Deities
  • Planetary correspondence
  • Candle correspondence
  • General colour correspondence
  • Incense
  • Food and drink
  • Herbs and spices
  • Stones
  • Water
  • Maybe terminology (I'm not sure)

I would greatly appreciate any other topics of associations to write about (this has to last me until September so the more the merrier).
