can you smell the campfires?
this boy is on fire! i just woke up to find myself alone in the tent, so i started looking for lars. there he was, ready for the next adventurous day of camping, making a brandnew warming fire for breakfast <3
yay for lars+my first tent camping trip! (apart from our coachella-weekend-delirium that involved a tent also, but is filed under festival madness more fittingly ;).
it took me almost six years of persuading to finally talk my mister into tent camping in the forest! i grew up with family camping trips through germany and denmark and my adventurous little sister and i started very young to go to a holiday camp every summer. we both loved it so much we soon came up with the idea to take our playful and cuddly (but oh so mischievous) beagle mix named balou out, to have our very own backyard holiday camp whenever possible. balou was our best buddy and never wanted to leave our side, so he loved being so close to us and guard us all night - as much as we enjoyed his company. the three of us started a summer holiday gang that would tent camp in our backyard up to several weeks straight. our friends loved this idea of freedom and joined in very often.
we would count shooting stars, tucked in our sleeping bags, tell each other spine chiller or sneak out to go on night walks. it was fantastic! i have such fond memories of our adventures, i still get all giddy every time i see a tent. lars....not so much ;D. but now i finally convinced him to give it a try aaaaaaaaand YES: he loved it, too! i think the camp fire did its magic...being able to provide us with warmth and a place to cook our food with his own hands surely triggered his caveman instincts ;D the archaic living of a camping trip and the closeness to nature can recharge you on a totally different level than comfort and being pampered can. there is so much beauty in simplicity. i now see a bright future for us camping all the way though europe =D. adventures await!
