The sheer romanticism of a character being bedridden with a fever and a cough and another character sitting on the edge of the said sickbed and stroking their hair with concern in their eyes. In this essay I will

When an injured/ill character collapses, but it's a slow collapse they feel coming and reach for support, or they're already so weak/hurt they're leaning heavily on their surroundings, and in their scrabbling for purchase/clinging to a surface they bring the contents of the counter/table/shelf down with them as they slip to the floor, the temporarily arrested descent suddenly turning to a clattering plummet, leaving the character in a crumpled heap amidst the mess.
things in whump that mess with emotional control my beloved. would this character normally cry? they will now! would they normally be able to pretend to be unaffected? now they’re shaking uncontrollably. this can come in so many ways too:
just. whenever a character has a wildly decreased ability to control their emotional reactions or displays!!

a whumpee who is tortured with poisons for an extended period of time. perhaps as an experiment, to see the results of the poison’s effects. perhaps just for fun. the whumpee suffers under the strain, getting sick and shivering, feeling stabbing pains in their stomach, and a myriad of other ailments.
the whumpers do it for so long that they don’t even realize whumpee has developed a tolerance.
Whumpee who bites. Literally. Whumper gets too close? Gets bitten. Caretaker tries to touch them as a way to comfort them? Gets bitten. Whumpee just being a feral little creature and biting anyone who they deem a threat. Especially if they’re trying to make themself look big and threatening. This could also work really well for a nonhuman whumpee
Whumpee waking up in a bed and trying to get up, but as soon as they move they feel a hand appearing on their shoulder, gently pushing them back down.
take a vain character. a character who's constantly smirking at himself in mirrors, obsessed with the tailoring of his waistcoats, proud of his accessories and the way his hair shines.
and then throw him in the dirt. he's given just enough water to keep from dying of dehydration, and the longing to wash his face becomes secondary to survival. he doesn't care if his wounds scar, as long as he can find something to stop the bleeding. he's freezing to death and forced to wear every ragged, torn piece of clothing he can scrounge up- or maybe even having clothing becomes a luxury.
when help finds him, he's no longer vain at all. he wears whatever he's given, cleans himself only when reminded to, doesn't even have the energy to brush his own hair.
and then one day a weak voice comes from where he's resting:
"Can I have... a mirror?"
Everyone looking after him breathes a sigh of relief.
i find manga so hard to format in a post, i hope this is okay, dear anon!! ♥️
