Hoi there - I'm Claire, and I make the Hiveworks comic PHANTOMARINE!

When a seafaring, swordfighting princess falls victim to a successful assassination, she comes face-to-face with the devious, many-faced death god who supposedly cursed her archipelagic world. After proving her mettle, Phaedra is sent on a quest to resurrect herself - but unbeknownst to her, she may be resurrecting far more than that.

I think it would be the case for direct manipulation - if her veins are connected to a person/body and are directly controlling them, I don't think she could spread her veins beyond her original body volume.

But I think she would also have the ability to influence people's movement/behavior without 'possessing' them. Bloodbending style. If she manipulates flesh, she doesn't need to be touching the flesh.

Which makes her even scarier, tbh.

I was like "it's funny how the majority of my Cheline ships are sapphic except for Silas*"

but then I remembered that the named cast of Phantomarine is overwhelmingly female...and the only known (named) male characters are:

  • children (Pavel, Eddy)
  • old men (Cal, Amos, Garth)
  • gay and taken (Irving, Markus)
  • dead and taken (Pharos, Leon)
  • ...literally her brother 💀 (Cheth)

Which means I'm very clearly a coward who should get the old men in on the action (wait what?)

(I'm actually content sticking with my toxic yuri ships, but it was funny to see that there really weren't many alternatives )

I think the silly straw thing would actually work.

Trouble is, 99.99999% of the seaghosts out there wouldn't have the mental fortitude/imagination to conjure a silly straw, so they just do it the old fashioned zombie way.

So it's up to Phaedra and the crew to bite something involving a silly straw that one of them has conjured.

This year in July, Phantomarine turns 10 years old 🎂

I know it seems younger than that because I didn't post about it for the first four years of its life, but it's true!

I'd love to make a little celebratory animation for it - and maybe host a guest art thing of some sort. I'll see what I can do.
