What is your recipe for best reader interaction on Tumblr? Is there a type of story you write that gets more notes than others? If so what is that story type? Do you post at certain times? Do you reblog your own work often? In a certain pattern? Or at random intervals? Do you try to answer every reblog? Or just the comments? How quickly do you try to answer them? Is your best most well received stories one shots? Or series? Is it straight up PIV smut that gets you the most interactions or is it something else? Certain kinks do better than others? Specific fandoms or characters get more attention than others?
Am trying to figure out this site, and as of yet I have not been able to, I'm hoping more input will help.
Some are going to say "just write what you love, write from your heart," but that hasn't worked out for me so I'm looking for others' experiences.

Sometimes its tough, isnt it? You're part of an online community, you contribute, put your heart and soul into something creative. And then the community decides to have a day to honor the creators like yourself... but as the day goes on you see posts where your contemparies are tagged but... but you're not. You see asks where they've recieved praise, but your inbox is empty. Its like you went to the party but they forgot you when it came to the party bag at going home time.
I've been there. I'm a relic on tumblr and thankfully these days are now the metaphorical water off a ducks back. I don't care if i'm appreciated, its now more that you're stuck with me and the 'wtf did i just read, please pass they eye bleach' comments are now what i live for as a fanfic writer that writes for themselves and no-one else.
So this is a shout out to every single writer that doesnt get tagged on appreciation days. To everyone that puts on a brave face but inside you wanted that My Little Pony plastic bag with a whistle and some crayons and a piece of cake wrapped in a napkin. I'm here to pick you up from the party and we're stopping for ice cream on the way home at that cool place that makes freakshakes with slices of cheesecake on top of a milkshake in a mason jar. Everything ends up sticky and you feel a little sick, but you're in the company of friends that accept you for who you are and adore your talent.
After the weekend I just had where I contemplated why I'm even writing any more for the very reasons listed in this post, I needed this. Thank you @angryschnauzer for writing this and @geralts-yenn for reblogging.
Am trying really hard to ignore how many open fics I have, both asks and future chapters of BBtF and Stick Handling. I’m not going to be able to put anything out until mid-June at the earliest , if I have anything done by then. And am trying not to panic about that.
If you are waiting for something, I promise it is coming. I just can’t give any time lines right now. Thank you for understanding.
Love when writers do an insane amount of unnecessary research for their fics. I follow an author that did like 8 months of intense research into 14th century Scotland so they could write smut about it, and guess what. It was some fucking incredible porn AND I learned about old Scottish politics

Am currently building a running playing list for one of my characters for like maybe 2 paragraphs of fic......
is it frowned upon to write more than one drabble for the same ask? Have multiple ideas for the same ask...and I can't choose a favorite.

woke up this morning to a comment on a fic saying they hoped I didn’t mind them commenting on such an old fic, and the fic isn’t even a year old, so I’m going to reiterate: I can’t speak for every single fanfic writer in the world, but I don’t know a single one myself who wouldn’t be thrilled to get comments on years-old fanfic! there is no deadline! it honestly made my day
Yes comment on any/ all fics. I have to say comments on my older ones bring even more of a smile on my face that someone dove that far back to read. 💚
