Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt in Interview with the Vampire 2.08 And That's the End of It. There's Nothing Else.
the issue with this poem is that nonbinary people are harmless whereas werewolves traditionally mangle and kill people. I don’t think the right analogy has been used here
First off, you are allowed to have an opinion about poetry, but I'm going to point out what you appear to have missed. Secondly, I am nonbinary and this is my poem. I wrote it to represent how it sometimes feels being nonbinary in a hostile environment. I don't appreciate being told there's an issue with how things resonate with me or the others who have shared this post. In future, I would recommend you be kinder in your phrasing.
The werewolf has not harmed anyone. The werewolf's apparent only crime is living in the town. There is no evidence or past experience that any werewolves - or the men and wolves in the town - have ever actually hurt anyone. No mangling or killing, and no intention to do so. He just lives there, and apparently has for some time without issue. The townsperson who has approached the speaker refuses to admit this in as many words, but that is literally the text. If there was evidence of harm, it would have been provided when the speaker asked, "has he actually done anything wrong?"
I am a trans person living in the UK. The media and transphobes treat trans people of all kinds like they are predators ready to mutilate and defile children as though there is any evidence of it, when in fact there is absolutely none. And a significant portion of the public, who perhaps don't consider themselves to be transphobic - or at least, would never admit it - believe what they are being told. That is the analogy.
The werewolf isn't the issue here.
@arcade-izzy, but it is actually the perfect example. People mangle and kill one another every day. How do you know that the person you're looking at isn't a serial killer or a war criminal? You don't. They could be anything. Same for the werewolf. You don't know anything about them except a fuck ton of stereotypes and assumptions. You've never spoken to one, never experienced one. How do you know the vast majority of them aren't monsters, and the rabbid ones have caused unjust Prejudice? You don't. Just like all guys aren't pedophiles, all whites aren't racist, generalizations are badm that was the point. A nonbionary person is similar to a werewolf because they transform on the regular. If you've never experienced one, you might believe all the bullshit that you've heard, but you don't KNOW who that individual is. You have to get to know them. You missed the point. The werewolf isn't even real, but they have stereotypes and Prejudice. Now imagine what a live person who IS REAL has to deal with.

As of 24 of February 2022 many Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes and seek shelter in neighbouring countries. Some even crossed the oceans and went to other continents.
Miles and miles away from home, finally safe - and yet, the peace is not familiar to us. For we still hear the danger in passing cars, too loud bangs and flying planes. We watch the news and worry about our friends and family. We cry and scream for those who suffer, and laugh and cheer for our victories.
We are scattered across the entire globe, but with our hearts and minds we are still in Ukraine.
Life goes on, but I feel like it's still February 24th for me.
@ kory_anika
the wretched abomination known as the minotaur has discovered some chalk
sobbing. thank you
I love it! It reminds me of my son!
...incredible.
This was also the argument my mother made against my youngest brother being autistic. "But he was talking in complete sentences when he was only a year old, and he learned to read by the time he was three!"
Yeah, because his brain was wired for language. Because he was autistic. It's not that weird.
This is because they do not understand Autism. They think Autism is only identified by inability to communicate in the common way via voice and eye contact. They don't realize that it is many things and that we are many in a variety of presentations. We process and connect and operate differently, but we are not less.
The only care about the symptoms that INCONVENIENCE THEM, not the characteristics that make them up.

Me @everyone in the notes
There's a whole bunch of TikTok drama at the moment after someone posted a video asking "would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear or a strange man?"
And the men are *very upset* that nearly every woman replied with "....obviously a bear."
It's honestly wild (I think some of these guys think that bears are movie monsters, craving human flesh).
But it boils down to this- they want you to expect the worst from the bear and the best from the stranger, and they are deeply offended that this isn't the case. 🤷
I think a lot of you are severely underestimating how dangerous bears can be tbh. Like it might still be the right choice for you in the end, but worst case for bear is a lot more grisly (heh) than "play dead and it will leave u alone".
Playing dead isn't actually good advice for bear encounters.
I think the people choosing bears are the most likely to have actually interacted with wild bears, who know the recommended strategies for mitigating bear encounters.
And I have terrible news about the *worst case* scenario for being isolated with a strange man.
🤷
I don’t need to worry about what the bear will do with my corpse.
It was never which one is the safe option. It was which one of the possibly horrific options are you more willing to accept. The bear is a known problem. It could fucking eviscerate you. It could get scared and run away. You could use bear mace, or bang pots together or raise your arms and yell and it will most likely run. The man is a complete unknown chaos element. He might be Mr. Roger's or he might be Ted Bundy. That's if you're lucky. Bundy is lucky. At least he killed the women before he raped them. David Parker Ray was a fucking Park ranger. He kidnapped and drugged women and kept them as toys in a box for day or weeks at a time. He subjected them to horrible things and recorded it all. He killed some of them, others he drugged heavily and dropped miles away from where he took them.
The fact is, you don't know what you're getting with the man. It might be Mr. Roger's or Steve Irwyn, but it might also be the Toybox Killer or Someone who wants to eat your limbs while you watch, then skull fuck you to death. The fact is that we don't know what to expect, so we choose the almost always predictable however, very scary and dangerous animal, over the endless possibilities of what the man might have in store. We want to believe most men are good, but we don't have a full proof system to tell until it's too late, and the bad ones are basically Demons. Bears aren't creative. They don't maime or kill for enjoyment. A bear isn't going to rape you, sodomize you, capture and enslave you, or any other heinous thing it can think up to enjoy your torment. A man MIGHT, and the fear of the worst possibilities with a man out weight the worst possibilities with a bear. With a bear, I might survive, I might not. But at least my end would be to the point, and if I do survive, no one is going to refuse me medical care, or not believe me that a bear attacked me. No one is going to insinuate that I led the bear on or somehow deserved or earned the bears reaction. No one will defend the bear or glorify it's actions and try to mimic them for fun.
So yeah. It is the bear. Every single time.
Here's to the people who weren't abused by their parents, but whose parents sucked anyways. Here's to people whose parents fucked up raising you out of ignorance and not malice. Here's to the kids whose parents didn't know what to do with you so they did nothing at all. Here's to people whose parents are getting better and growing as people but still hurt you. Here's to every mean comment that wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't come from your mom; here's to awkward family dinners because you're all trying to forget;
here's to you, survivor of a thousand 'not as bad as it could have been' hurts. I see you. You aren't alone.
