Last minute present for a birthday tomorrow. Key Lime Pie is their absolute, all time favorite dessert, so I made one and turned the slices into mini magnets. Tried a new way to get the look for a thick meringue, and for a first pass I'm happy enough with it. I'll need to keep practicing to make it look a tad bit more realistic next time.
I absolutely love tres leches cake. For those that don't know what a tres leches cake is, it's basically a sponge cake that's been soaked in 3 different types of milk, usually condensed, evaporated, and cream (I personally like to throw in some coconut milk, too, when I make my own), and then topped with a liberal amount of meringue. Being from South Florida, about less than an hour away from Miami, I just *had* to make this. Eventually I might make an entire cake, but for now some earrings will work.
