Hi all. Guess it's not really a surprise, but I'll be on hiatus for a while. Still working on myself and I'm honestly still very burned out. I've even stopped with ceramics as well. Next month may be the last month I'll have my Patreon open. I haven't decided yet. It's really hard to force myself to touch clay and I've been slacking on posts. It's unfair to everyone supporting me, so I'm thinking of taking it down for a while. I would say I'll be lurking, but I probably won't. I haven't opened any social media for over a month now, aside from what I need to do for work. I'll post something when I get everything sorted out. https://www.instagram.com/p/BvvDhpgnBBL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2i6f3kqukn7m
Hey guys!
Things have been busy here with work so I've been pretty quiet. I did finally find time last weekend to use my new wheel and get some more practice in.
This set of mugs, trinket bowls, and small vase were made with a specked stoneware clay. It should fire white with brown spots. Really excited to see what it looks like when I finally have time to get down to the studio to have it fired.
I can sense a theme with my top 9 posts of 2018. :P Guess you all really like axolotls! • I hope to post more consistently in 2019, and that I get back to creating more regularly. I took a bit of a break this last month of the year to recoup and try to stop feeling so burned out. Plus getting used to a full time job again threw me off my creative game. • I feel like I'm finally starting to get better mentally - that I'm finally making some progress forward instead of being stuck. Here's to a better 2019! https://www.instagram.com/p/BsEQ3SGHG2z/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=19uk5z810uzb5
So I have the best husband in the universe. Since I started working full time, I haven't been able to get to the studio as often as I'd like. Husband bought me a pottery wheel for Christmas so I can keep practicing at home. :) https://www.instagram.com/p/Br5w_X5nrrQ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4va0mb6wwi90
Sorry it’s been quiet everyone. I’ve been running to finish holiday gifts, work, and Patreon rewards all this week. It’s been hectic to say the least lol Took some time today to destress making resin art pieces. Here’s a little process video. These are alcohol inks on epoxy resin. Excuse the noise, it’s suuuuuper windy here today.
Challenged myself to throw something larger and I think it's my best piece so far. This mug was made from about a pound of clay. Even managed to get the top even and the sides pretty thin. :) I'm hoping that glazing goes well.
All set up at MIY Ceramics for their first annual holiday show! If you're local and want to pick up some of these ornaments, come by before 4pm today. They also have a ton of ceramic pieces as well. :)
My Etsy shop is now closed until December 27th.
Guys, I think I found my first clay piece ever ever. I remember one year making salt dough ornaments with my grandmother. I think they used to smell like gingerbread or cinnamon. Maybe. It was a loooong time ago. I was 3 or 4 maybe, so back in 1990/1991.
I think this ornament is older than some of my followers at 27/28 years old. 😂
This little guy will be getting a spot on my Christmas year.
First even mini mug! Obsessively watching YouTube videos of people throwing mugs seems to have helped. Now to just make 3 more the same size and shape….
Picked up my first batch of finished pieces last night. They're a little rough, but there are some nice ones in here. This little one will eventually house an octopus. :)
It was my first week back working a regular 9 to 5 job and I forgot how difficult it was to get everything done during the week. Haven't made it to the studio at all until Saturday, and I haven't been able to sculpt anything at home aside from the next Patreon tutorial. I'll get a schedule figured out eventually.
Here are the little bowls and cups I threw during my 4 week class waiting for their last firing. This was after the final glazing part of the class. I still need to practice how to glaze but it was fun! I haven't gotten a chance to get back to the studio lately and I'm missing it.
There smaller pieces here will be turned into koi pond sculptures. :)
Really Tumblr, really?? :|
So where is everyone moving to from here lol
Hey guys! The ceramics studio I’m a member of is holding their first holiday show the 15th of December, and they’re looking for vendors! Check out the photo above for more details and who to contact. I’ve also been told you can reach out with questions to their Instagram account: @miyceramics I’ll be attending with a small selection of items up for sale, including some ceramics pieces. So if you’re local, make sure to come by and support this awesome group of artists!
Tried out my hand building skills last week and made these little mushrooms. :) I'm going to turn these into ornaments and give the tops an interesting glaze.
I've taken a job working with my husband, so I'll most likely be posting here a little less. I do have more in depth updates posted to Patreon though. I'll try to break up my posts here so I have things to post consistently.
Thank you for the replies to my last post. I deleted it because it felt like fishing for compliments or something. I don’t know. I haven’t posted anything in a while, so here’s a mug that I made the other day during my pottery class. I’ve finished the 4 week class, so all that’s left to glaze everything. I do have some small containers that I’ll be glazing today to hopefully turn into ponds before Christmas. I’ll be dumping a ton of pictures to Patreon of all the work in progress pieces I have tonight, including the ones I’ll be glazing.
I've made an update post on Patreon regarding some things that have been going on recently. I'm also touching on some changes that I'll be implementing to my business as well. Be warned, it's a long, long wall of text.
Working on some new things today. I’ll have a post up some time today on Patreon regarding some things I’d like to tell you all. It will be an open post so anyone can read it. I’ll have a link up here when it’s ready.
