The Top Three Madrigal Cooks

Julieta: This woman’s whole thing is cooking. She is constantly crafting snacks and meals to heal those around her. With all the time she’s spent in the kitchen, the greater part of her life, I have no doubt she’s the best cook in casa Madrigal.

Alma: She not only raised three children, but helped establish an entire community. On her own. Between feeding her kids and the community (before people had set up their own homes). Alma was Encanto’s provider. After her daughter began using her gift, she found herself cooking less, but still, she can hold her own in the kitchen.

Félix: He’s such a charmer. While dating Pepa, he definitely made her dinners. Pepa swears, his meals rival Julieta’s. So why is he third? He rarely cooks anymore. The only members of family who’ve tasted his cooking are Pepa, Dolores, Augustín and Bruno. Very few know what a great chef he is.

Hiii i loved your Papa Bruno au. You have more things about Adelita? Like how she would act with the rest of the Madrigals?

Avatar

Abuela Susana, Adelita’s abuela, has nicknamed her abejita. Which means little bee. On account of the little girl always buzzing around, needing to keep busy. Whether it be helping her [Susana] or quietly helping others in the near part of town, Adelita it seems needs to be helping/doing something.

After moving in to Casita Madrigal. It was learned Lita is an early riser. And she really doesn’t like to be alone for long. She will wake someone up to keep her company. It depends on her mood who it’ll be. Casita tries to be helpful and hold her off for a bit, but generally she gets her way.

Outside of the family her best friend is Alejandra.

She dislikes milk. Her biggest lie is she’s lactose intolerant. Has not connected that her favourite dessert Torta De Tres Leches is literally a 3 milk cake.

  • Alma: Adelita is usually anxious and timid when around Abuela Alma. She loves the woman dearly, but is easily intimidated by her. She desperately wants to connect with her, maybe recapture a bit of the relationship she had with her biological Abuela, Abuela Susana. She just has such respect and gets so nervous when around her [Alma].
  • Julieta: Adelita finds Julieta to be very warm. She feels most at ease around her tía Julieta, like she doesn’t have to be “on” around her. She enjoys holding her tía’s hand when she’s cooking. If a hand isn’t available, she’ll grasp on to Julieta’s apron. Happy to be her tía’s eyes and ear when it comes to her children and husband. Adelita will give up secrets for snacks, especially Julieta’s cooking. She considers Julieta one of the easiest family members to be around.
  • Pepa: Openly adores her tía Pepa (e.g. “Tía Pepa you bring so much happy to our family.”) Affectionately nicknamed “Little Shadow” because she will routinely follow her tía around. Adelita thinks Pepa’s so cool and bright, even when Pepa has a rain cloud. It is actually more likely she’ll be with Pepa when it’s raining, given that Adelita loves the sound of falling rain. Sweetly ignorant, her presence is commonly enough to quell her tia’s dreary mood.
  • Bruno: There definitely was a shift after Bruno adopted her, as he became more competent as a parent and less of a friend. She’s slightly irritated; he has the power to discipline her now. Still, she absolutely adores her Papa. Has to show him all the cool stuff she found throughout the day (e.g. “This is rock, I thought looked like one of the rats. Oh! This string was just the right shade of orange.”) Since the death of her biological Abuela she's been extremely clingy. Tries to sneak into his bed at night. (If those stairs are an obstacle, she’ll burrow into the sand.)
  • Félix: Adelita thinks her tío Félix is loud and funny. Most overwhelming family member. She’s easily flustered by his compliments (e.g. “Your effort hasn't gone unnoticed and I appreciate it.” - F. Will turn her cheeks red). Having said that, she does appreciate his company and has to suppress her giggles whenever he tells a dad joke. He makes her chores into games which she loves. While he can be overwhelming, she understands he’s well intentioned.
  • Augustín: Adelita is constantly concerned for her tío Augustín. Yes, it has been explained to her that he’ll be okay. He just needs one of Julieta’s healing treats, but that doesn’t stop tears from pooling her eyes and her lower lip from trembling. She makes it her job to teach him safety. However, her teachings are more geared toward her age group (e.g., “Don’t cross the street without a grown-up!” “Hot stove, no touch!”) She slowly becomes more comfortable with his clumsiness and loves him despite his accidents. Still, she makes him paper birds with get better pictures on the inside.
  • Félix and Augustín: As she becomes more comfortable with the family, she develops a great fondness for her cool tíos. They play games with her, tell jokes, have tea with her dolls, and sometimes do slightly dangerous things behind the others' back. She has stars in her eyes when they invite her to be a part of their super top secret super cool “giftless” group.

— The Primos —

  • Isabela: Formerly daughter of a plantain farmer, Adelita has an appreciation for greenery. She thinks Isabela’s succulents are beautiful, so she will shyly ask for some to decorate the nursery. Despite this, she doesn’t enjoy Isa’s pollen paint; it makes her sneeze and stains her clothes. Adelita is very curious as to how Isabela’s powers work. Is Isa part flower? She’s always offering her prima glasses of water. After a particularly cloudy week, she nearly loses it. Fortunately, Bruno explains her prima Isa won’t die without sunlight, because she is in fact not part flower.
  • Dolores: Initially, Adelita was very put off by Dolores. The older girl knew stuff about her that she didn’t explicitly tell her. Understandably, this made her uneasy. Eventually she comes to terms with the eavesdropping. Dolores' gift just makes her a better listener. Once she better understands, she tries to make herself more quiet than she already is. She just doesn’t want to be rude to her prima. Additionally, she later learns to sign so that she can make conversation without Dolores hearing (how else can she help plan surprises?).
  • Luisa: In the early days, she was fearful of Luisa. So tall. But after seeing how gentle Luisa is with her dolls and plushies, she warms up to her. She brings out the “good” plates when having tea parties with Luisa. Moreover, considering how gentle Luisa is with her things, she is the only one other than her tías and papa she allows to braid her hair. She herself will sometimes decorate Luisa’s hair in turn. Lita counts Luisa as one of the easier family members to talk to. She likes to tell her stories and seeing as she can’t yet read, she’s usually making stuff up.
  • Camilo: She calls Camilo “Milo” (mill-o). She, without question, adores this boy. That said, she hates it when he shifts. When he once attempted to shift to stop her crying, she cried harder because she wanted a Milo cuddle not a stranger. She is easily jealous when he has to watch other children in Encanto and can’t play with her. She will pout about it. Additionally, she can get annoyed when Camilo is being “dramatic” (e.g. “Oh no! Gravity is increasing on me!” - C “… You rude cousin, your bottom is crushing me!”). Adelita and Camilo have a playful relationship akin to a brother-sister dynamic.
  • Mirabel: Mirabel was one of the first family members outside of Bruno and Antonio she bonded with. She will hide in Mirabel’s wardrobe when she’s usually accidentally done something wrong. Mirabel is very understanding. She gives knick knacks to Mirabel in exchange for play costumes or occasionally plushies. Honestly, Mirabel would do it for free, but Lita always has to give her something. It’s only fair. Adelita is fine not getting a gift, so long as there’s a chance she’ll be like prima Mirabel. She can get embarrassed when Mirabel cheers her on while playing with others (“That’s my prima!” - M).
  • Antonio: Thick as thieves. Antonio is Adelita’s best friend. Adelita likes to use his gift, once he has it, to talk to her lizard and cows. Together they're making an animal book. Antonio does the writing, and she draws the pictures. While they’re best friends, they will bicker. Adelita hates when he says “… because I’m older.” He’s not older by much. Together, these two are just little troublemakers. Adelita is the voice of reason, at least pointing out the potential risks of their exploits. Admittedly, though, she can be mischievous. She did plan the “incident”. They aren’t all trouble. They’re explorers.
  • Adelita: Has low-self esteem believes that her father left because she did something wrong and was simply not good enough. She has become somewhat of a people pleaser, seeking to validate her self-worth by helping those around her. Her midnight talks with Bruno were important in boosting her confidence, as he expected very little from her and allowed her to voice her opinions. It can take her a while to trust someone, but once she does she’s a giggly, bubbly little weirdo.
  • Casita: Adelita realizes quickly Casita is a friend, not a creepy house trying to eat her. An observer, she watches Mirabel talk to Casita and learns from her. What’s more, Lita is naturally polite if she thinks/knows something has feelings she’ll consider them. She always asks if she can color on Casita’s walls, asks Casita to mark her’s and Antonio’s heights, and wipes off her shoes before entering. Before meals she’ll scribble a picture of the food on the walls so Casita can “eat” with them. She can’t wait to throw Casita a birthday party.
  • All: Though they can be overwhelming and at times she needs space from them, Adelita absolutely adores her new big family.

I would really like to know what the reaction is to bruno and his daughter by his family! Like mirabel in my head is just like "new cousin gained!". Just everyone's reaction. Please and thank you!

Bruno just doesn't see his daughter for basically a week after she's moved in. He's 99.8% sure one of his family members has her, but like heck if he knows which one.

Adelita is an introverted extrovert. Sometimes, she wants to be around others, but her personal space is also a priority. It takes her a bit to warm up to the family as a whole.

  • Alma: She was skeptical about her youngest child adopting at first. However, after seeing how much Bruno cared for the little girl, she came to support the idea. Compared to her other family members, her tone and approach are softer with Adelita. She adores sharing the story of their family with her new granddaughter.
  • Julieta: She's mildly jealous. She isn't the cool aunt. When she can, she will take the time to teach her baby niece her recipes. She is always amused when Lita turns the recipes into song rhymes to better memorize. Julieta can often be caught humming them to herself when cooking alone.
  • Pepa: Doesn't understand why she's the "cool" aunt. She'll just look behind her and Lita will either be there or poorly hiding, trying to follow her. Pepa takes a bit, warming up to her new shadow, because what if she accidentally strikes her with lightning? They bond over books. Lita really likes stories, but can't read yet.
  • Bruno: Absolutely adores his daughter. Bruno would make sure Adelita knew just how special of a person she is. He never wants her to feel the way he did growing up. When she's overwhelmed, he'll let her hide in his ruana. He is probably one of the most caring, sweetest, and involved fathers out there.
  • Félix: Is excited to have another family member on the Pepa hype team. He's teaching his niece and Antonio the mapalé. Félix is aware of how shy Adelita is. He praises and magnifies even her smallest achievements in an effort to help boost her confidence.
  • Augustín: Adelita just being in a constant state of worry about her tio. She gives him paper birds for being "brave" almost every time he's injured. He has a stash of them in his and Julieta's shared room. He makes her a mobile out of a couple of them to decorate her room. It only cost him a couple of cuts and bruises.
  • Félix and Augustín: Make Lita a member of their super cool giftless group. Which means secret hangouts to discuss and get away from gifted family drama.
  • Isabela: Finally has a cousin who enjoys talking about plants, any kind of plants. Isabela will sometimes try to make plants based on Lita's scribble plant drawings. In an attempt to be a good cousin and role model, she'll model practices on things like brushing hair, greeting others, etc.
  • Dolores: Appreciates Lita's quieter personality. Can't help but check in on her cousin with her gift throughout the day. Even if she already knows about Lita's day, she will act just as excited to hear about it again later on. She keeps a personal notebook of Lita's cute stories, that she [Lita] tells herself when alone in the nursery.
  • Luisa: Worried for a while she might hurt the little mouse. Probably the gentlest family member, excluding Bruno. Adelita usually asks Luisa to braid her hair. If not Luisa, then Julieta. Luisa lets Lita read to her while she braids. She is 100% aware Lita can not read and is just making up a story while flipping through a book. She never says anything.
  • Camillo: Would die for his baby prima. He learned the hard way Adelita does not like it when he shifts. He genuinely loves spending time with her, and will go along with Lita's childish games if it makes her happy. He's Lita's comfort cousin.
  • Mirabel: Absolutely ecstatic to have a new cousin. Spent Lita's first few nights in the nursery with her, despite now having her own room, because she didn't want Lita to feel lonely. Sews a lizard plushie as a gift for Lita's adoption ceremony.
  • Antonio: Already Adelita's best friend. According to her, he can't be her favorite cousin because he's already her best friend, and that isn't fair. The two refer to each other as twins. They both like animals, they're about the same age, and family. So yeah, twins. Partners in crime would probably be a more fitting title. The family never knows who the mastermind is.
  • Casita: When Adelita gets really overwhelmed either by the family or an event they're hosting, Casita will just hide her. Create a quiet and secluded space for her to be in until she's ready to rejoin the others. Casita will also partner with her for hide and seek. One time, the family really thought they lost her. Turns out she was peacefully napping waiting to be found, only casita kept moving her hiding spot so she'd win.
  • All: Would end anyone's whole existence if they messed with the new baby of the family.
