Has anybody put it together that if Max Goof was in college by the time of DuckTales season three rolled around, he would have been an acceptable age to babysit the triplets when they were younger?

Yeah, yeah. You can tell me Max and Goofy live in Spoonerville so he'd never have been around to watch the triplets.

To that I ask you, "You don't think Goofy, Goofy Goof, single parent, ever dropped everything to help his Donald raise three infants? Knowing the struggles of being a single parent, you don't think Goofy ever drove him and his son cross country to help his best pal?"

  • Besides, imagine Max babysitting the little triplets, so his dad can take Donald out for a break.
  • Imagine Max being simultaneously the coolest, and most overprotective babysitter the boys have.
  • Imagine Max always letting little Huey sit on his shoulders, so he could be as tall as he dreamed.
  • Imagine little Dewey drumming on pots and pans, rocking out to Powerline with Max.
  • Imagine Max letting little Louie use his hoodie as a comfort blanket when he gets too overwhelmed.
  • Imagine Max developing a brotherly relationship with the boys as they grow up.
  • Imagine the boys still zooming with big brother Max once he goes to college.
  • Imagine their pride when they tell Max about their adventures with Scrooge.

I’ll admit I might have gone off on a tangent but like… IMAGINE. (Where are the fanfics? Where’s the fanart?)

Now I’m just imagining Max and Goofy going to visit Duckburg, and Max being left to babysit all the kids (because of course Donald would want to introduce his whole family to one of his oldest friends) while the adults go out to dinner or something to catch up. And Max being warned that there’s a very good chance that something paranormal is going to happen seeing as this is a sleepover and Max just assuming they mean they’re gonna bust out a ouija board only for Magica to attack or something.

Now I'm imagining the triplets freaking out because their cool "brother" Max is coming to visit.

Huey prepping to show Max all the skills he's learned from the Junior Woodchucks since the last time they were together.

Louie panicking because Max always see him in his green hoodie and he needs to figure out the perfect con for the both of them to run while Max is in town.

And Dewey stressing because what if Max doesn't think adventuring is cool enough. He tries to teach himself how to skateboard in a day just to impress the Goof kid.

Webby freaking out because of how cool the boys made Max sound and so obviously she needs to work hard to make sure she impresses their friend/brother figure.

Even when Webby tries to be “normal” she just can’t. Imagine her showing Max all her artefacts, the McDuck family conspiracy history board, and offering to dig into his family history (she won’t stop until she knows all his family secrets). But then apologizing, realizing she might be being too weird and intense. However Max is just like can I adopt you!?

What I’d be interested to see in a Goof Troop Reboot.

I’ve been watching a lot of Goof Troop lately bingeing the old Disney cartoons with my children. The kids love Goof Troop. I think the show is great for the time it was created in. However, there are some things that @suspendersofdisbelief and co. might want to consider changing or arcs they might consider implementing if they ever make a Goof Troop reboot. The first ten were thought up with my children in mind.

  • Give Goofy agency, we know that Goofy is the clumsy type, this doesn’t mean that he’s a naïve idiot. (In the original series, the amount of obvious schemes Goofy falls for is ridiculous. The kids I’m watching with this are even becoming annoyed with this.)
  • In the original series, Goofy is very forgiving of Pete’s actions. Which is all fine and dandy for the cartoon, but it’d be interesting to see Goofy finally decide now he’s going to hold Pete accountable. This would teach children it’s okay to be forgiving, but when your “friend” crosses the line, it’s okay to decide not to be friends with them anymore.
  • An entire divorce arc between Peg and Pete. Again, I think it’d be good, if handled well, for children to see the complexity of divorce. There’s never just one reason for parents splitting up, and it's not (always) the child’s fault.
  • A female friend for Max and PJ, that’s not Pistol. A character that isn’t the mom of the group, rivals with the boys, or a tag along. An actual good fun friend that all kids could relate with.
  • Some compelling multi episodic arcs. There’s no arc, and little continuity in the original series. Even if they happen in the background and don’t culminate until the season finale. A bit of continuity would be nice.
  • A more diverse array of characters, not necessarily in race (though that’d be nice too). The original series almost only followed the Goof family and Pete’s family. Other than the occasional foil, there weren’t many compelling characters outside the two families. It’d be nice to see some additional characters. Honestly, Goofy’s only friend can’t have been Pete and vice versa.
  • Give Goofy a love interest. They don’t have to be permanent. I’d like my kids to see single parents can move on, but this doesn’t mean they’re forgetting/replacing their past relationship. (If the relationship is permanent, extra points for a step child.)
  • Also, I’d like the show to have at least one episode centered on the fact Max doesn’t have a mom. The amount of times my friend’s son has been teased and told he needs a mom (someone his dad rightfully cut out of his life as an infant) is utterly ridiculous. The original show did a great job of normalizing the missing Mrs. Goof. (My children asked once where she was. I asked if Goofy and Max really look like they needed her. Their answer was no and that was the end of that.)
  • An arc for Pete to become a better person, if not some lasting consequences for his mean and underhanded behavior. (My children kept wondering why he was mean to his son and why Goofy was friends with him. I did not have good answers.)
  • Continuation of slapstick comedy. There aren’t many children’s shows that continue to use this practice. Which is a shame. My children love the pratfalls and slapstick comedy of the original Goof Troop. If they ever rebooted the show, I’d hope they’d keep this humor.

Things that I want, with no relation to the needs of my children.

  • Goofy being part of a single parent support group. Being a single parent is hard, especially with no support. I’d love it, if he had friends who understood what he was going through and provided the support his nuclear family neighbors could never.
  • Max as a 00s kid. Max was in college last we heard, in DuckTales, making him probably 20 years old by “The Last Adventure” he would have been born in the year 2000 effectively making him a 00s kid. (Give us 00s kids this, we were robbed of a Disney animated renaissance.)
  • Goofy killing it as a photographer but also living somewhere believable. In the original series he was a single parent without a steady job or any job but somehow lived in a nice house comparable to Pete's who was a car salesman with two sources of income. (Was Mrs. Goof paying child support?)
  • Baby Huey, Dewey, and Louie. If they were ten when DuckTales 2017 began, they were born in 2007. You can’t convince Goofy didn’t travel down to Duckburg to help Donald with the new boys when they hatched.
  • Revamped Goof Troop theme song. The DuckTales 2017 theme didn’t have to go that hard, but it did, and now I have expectations.
  • Little Roxanne cameo. She doesn't have to be a main character. She doesn’t have to be a recurring character. She doesn't need a speaking role. She just needs to be somewhere in the series. Give us little Roxanne.
  • None of those telling Max a story about his ancestors episodes, unless of course they actually play a role in the overall arc of the season. Otherwise, they’re just skip-able filler episodes.
  • New shoes for Max. Who in the animation department said “you know what would be cool bright yellow and green shoes with purple laces!” (I’m a 00s kid, correct me if this was the style back then.)
  • A new design for Pistol, less irritating.
  • I know I’ve addressed this, but I’ll say it again: more compelling recurring characters!! Please.
