Hiiii :)

I'm currently writing a fic about Diego but I keep feeling like I have to restart from s1 because I forgot how to characterize him (if that makes any sense??) Do you have any scenes that you rely on to characterize him from s1, 2, and 3? (so that I don't have to watch all 30 episodes again lol). I have to get it done by the end of this month and I'm nervous that I won't be able to pull it off. I don't think I'm going to rewatch any scenes from s4 though because although I feel like they got his character right, Lila's character definitely wasn't right and that messes the whole system up lol.

Thanks so much for your input!

Hello! Sorry, I saw this at the wrong point, and then promptly forgot it was in my inbox, lol. I hope you're still writing!

So, yeah, in terms of scenes I go back to: that often depends on the emotion I'm trying to track, or the particular relationship. But in terms of ones where I feel like he's really got some screen time that's worth watching:

Season 1:

Ep 1: the funeral scene/fight with Luther. Bitter but righteously angry Diego at his finest (with the sweet little twist of his concern for Grace at the end).

Ep 3 (Extra Ordinary): the flashback to Grace helping him with his stammer as a child, and then the two scenes with her as an adult - with Diego trying to persuade her to leave, and then finally switching her off (a heartbreaking little sequence!).

Ep 4 (Man on the Moon): The conversation with Luther in the library, before they find Five - Diego connecting with his brother and trying to break through Luther's blind faith in Reggie.

Ep 8 (I Heard A Rumor): The little scene with Beaman - example of how good Diego is at making friends, despite his prickly exterior, and Beaman sees the good in him that he saw in Eudora.

Season 2 (aka the best Diego season):

Ep 1: Him (and Lila!) in the asylum, talking to Dr Moncton, doing arts and crafts, and his conversation/confrontation with Five. And then his escape with Lila - man, this is SUCH a good Diego ep.

Ep 2 (The Frankel Footage): His plan to chop off Oswald's finger, lol, him and Five arguing about whether Reggie is up to something, and his lovely little reassurance of Lila in the darkroom. And then him and Five breaking into Reggie's place and talking about their dad some more, and his fight with Reggie and ultimate inability to kill the mf.

Ep 3 (The Swedish Job): Him and Lila talking about her parents, and...all the rest of that scene. <3

Ep 4 (The Majestic 12): Him and Lila being domestic and cosy in the morning, their dance at the consulate, his conversation with rl Grace (his sheer horror at the thought of Reggie and Grace dating, lol!), the fight with the Swedes.

Ep 5 (Valhalla): Diego's confrontation with Lila. His easy forgiveness of Vanya, and attempt to tell his family about his girl troubles. His "Everyone changes the world" speech.

Ep 6 (A Light Supper): His gleeful little "Team Zero" plan. Being destroyed by Reggie.

Ep 7 (Oga for Oga): Him and Luther phoning poor Olga. Him hugging Ben/Klaus. Taking the time to bury Elliott, and falling for Lila's transparent plot.

Ep 8 (The Seven Stages): Meeting the mother-in-law (instant enemy). Meeting Herb (instant friend). Being the only one to greet Ray like a normal person.

Ep 9 (743): Desperately trying, and failing, to save JFK.

Ep 10 (The End of Something): Him and Five confronting the Handler and Lila, and then saving one another from the Commission army. Talking Lila around, and stopping Luther from stopping her. His brief little moment with Vanya at the end, as they deal with leaving/getting left by their loved one.

I'm gonna come back to s3 bc I have an evening to live, lol. Hope this is helpful!

Okay, season 3...

Ep 1: That entire dance sequence that is in Diego's head. Babyyyy...

Ep 2 (World's Biggest Ball of Twine): Talking to Stan about what he hoped to be like as a father.

Ep 3 (Pocket Full of Lightning): Lila breaking his heart. His straightforward acceptance of Viktor: "Do you feel loved? Good. You are."

Ep 4 (Kugelblitz): His stunned reaction to getting a spontaneous hug from Stan! Taking Allison out for his brand of therapy.

Ep 4 (Kindest Cut): Dealing with Stan killing Klaus in as calm and mature a fashion as you could expect from an Umbrella. Being Lila's DILF.

Ep 5 (Marigold): Finding out he's not actually Stan's dad - and instantly moving to adoption solutions.

Ep 7 (Auf Wiedersehen): Finding out that he is (going to be) a father after all. Actually asking for time to consider Lila's proposal.

Ep 8 (Wedding at the End of the World): Choosing Lila over saving the world. Reggie telling him that he would have made a superb father. The bittersweetness of a near-perfect evening, knowing that it's all going to end tomorrow.

Ep 9 (Seven Bells): Getting over-protective of Lila and provoking an argument.

Ep 10 (Oblivion): Excited to tell his family about the baby. Being so smitten with Lila. Reassuring her that she'll be a good mum. Fighting in sync with her - and then locking her in a closet. And, in the end, departing with her to go live their lives.

---

Okay, those are my personal recs! There are plenty of other great scenes with him, of course, and I've skipped a few major ones - but these are the ones I think give you the most about his character.

Happy writing!

After seven years, three kids, some hard times, and some great times, Lila and Diego finally get around to getting hitched. The day is emotional for them (and embarrassing for their kids), but the part they're both going to remember for the rest of their lives is the first dance.

This seemed like the perfect one to celebrate 100 Diego/Lila AU posts! I would like to thank David and Ritu for having such a vast array of ridiculous and gorgeous photos from their respective acting careers and lives, and for looking just stupidly cute together (give that casting director an award, damn).

I was determined to hit this milestone, but from now on, I'm just going to post these as and when inspiration hits. I have a few to repost so they're in the tag proper, and some ones that are vibes-only, so they're in my queue for the next few days. And if anyone has any requests or suggestions, let me know, and I'll see if I can magic up a photo set!

Film noir AU:

I'll never forget the day that she walked into my life.

It began innocently enough: a knock at the door just as I was downing my third set of reps for the day. Without waiting for an answer, the door swung open, and there she was, all done up like your best friend's bratty little sister--the kind you kiss after school when he's not looking.

I grabbed a towel. I had a feeling I was gonna need it.

"Mr. Hargreeves?" she asked. She was British. Well, I wouldn't hold it against her. Not unless she asked nicely.

"Call me Diego. Mr. Hargreeves is my father." Well, technically, my big brother had inherited the title--but that was too much to go into at this time of the morning.

The lady smirked a little, like she knew all my secrets anyhow. "Is that what you're calling yourself?"

Suddenly, I wasn't in the mood for idle chit-chat. "So what can I help you with? Lost cat, maybe--a blackmail scheme--or a straying husband?"

She stepped into the room. I hadn't invited her, but I figure that didn't matter. She leaned against my wall, and fluttered her pretty eyelashes in my direction.

"Nothing so simple, I'm afraid. I've come to talk to you about the apocalypse."

Yeah. That was the day the world ended, and the day I met Lila Pitts. Only one of those changed my life--and it wasn't the one with a meteorite.

The Office AU:

"No, I don't get on with anyone here, it's not that kind of workplace. Well, the new receptionist, whatever her name is, she's...she's okay."

---

"Oh yes. Diego. He's a total arsehole."

---

"Oh, hey, listen, you wanna talk assholes, did you know Lila rigged the coffee machine to literally explode, when she knew I'd be there late because I had a tight deadline, and I'd need caffeine--and it wasn't like I locked her in the supply closet for revenge, it was an accident--"

---

"Every day is a new death trap. I enjoy it, actually! Keeps things lively. Everyone else is so boring."

---

"...She said w-what?"

Batwoman and Catman AU:

Gotham socialite Lila Pitts is famous for her dead parents, wild parties, and impulsive philanthropy. What no one knows about is her secret identity - or the work she puts in every night, in mask and cape, to keep the streets of Gotham safe.

Martial artist and master thief Catman lives the reverse: everyone is familiar with his criminal alter-ego, but not the man underneath. So it's kind of a problem when that man is feeling an irresistible draw towards the woman who continually thwarts him.

Who is the real Diego - and is Lila ready to find out?

There is a guy in Lila's Intro To Politics class that she absolutely hates - but it's only fair because he hates her right back. Unfortunately, they may have made class a little too annoying for their professor - because he's just made them partner up for the JFK assignment. It’s definitely going to be a disaster, there’s no way they can work together without an explosion of some kind…

Honestly, she can't wait.
