David Tennant and Michael Sheen - BTS of Good Omens season 2
I know they’re both such brilliant actors, that’s not a surprise - but I still love the effect of seeing how, when they aren’t acting, they look like themselves in costume and not the characters.
David and Michael in the interview with Ali Plumb for BBC Radio 1 (x) :).
AP :I won't read some ot the stories I've glanced upon.
David: Right.
AP: Yes. Fanfiction is quite….
David: Oh, I see. Oh that is not for us to read.
Michael: Oh I read it all.
AP: Oh you should. You write most of it, right?
Michael: I write most of it.
I love him for immediately standing in the way of the mockery to position himself in defence of us.
So, it is now three days into Pride, and the gayness just keeps on coming. This is a screenshot from 2019 of Michael responding to a piece of Ineffable Husbands fanart of Aziraphale and Crowley at the cinema in the 1980s.
For those who may not know (as I didn’t, not being from the UK), La Scala was a cinema in King’s Cross, an area of London that (pre-Soho) was a haven for all things LGBTQ, and showed many LGBTQ-themed films throughout its notorious run.
But the extra special thing about these gay all-nighters (and which Michael would have undoubtedly known when writing that tweet) was that all sorts of debauchery (a.k.a., gay orgies) tended to ensue among its patrons:
…So, not only do we know that Michael has thought about Aziraphale and Crowley fucking, we also know that he has thought specifically about when and where they would fuck…and it’s in a place nicknamed The Sodom Odeon. On top of all that, we now have GO season 2 coming out with a scene filmed in the Bo’ness Hippodrome and Michael looking incredibly smug on the day of filming said scene. In a dark cinema. With David. I just don’t even know what else to say…
(Also…What were you doing in King’s Cross in the mid/late ‘80s, Michael? Is this knowledge all from firsthandjob experience? Because I would not be at all surprised…)
For David Tennant’s birthday today I got a picture I’d never seen before. 😳
He’s so BAMF here, I love it! ❤
Bonus:
MS perfectly catching that slight DT sneer. What a fucking genius.
When people decide that Aziraphale and Crowley are a couple.
I’ve just worked out something that’s been gnawing at my brain since the show came out. That fourth gif, with Sympathetic Man in it. It’s Aziraphale’s reaction. Like, he’s thinking about Crowley and busy agonising over his situation, when this rando interrupts; and Aziraphale, the moment he realises what the man’s said, gives him this look like, “What? Better off without him? I beg to differ!” It’s in the way he presses his lips together. As though he’s quite happy ignoring the petty remarks of humans until one of them disses Crowley.
A quick Aziraphale sketch 😇
Here we see Crowley and Aziraphale playing David Tennant and Michael Sheen.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant on The One Show playing a guessing game about objects they got from sets. (x)
Michael: This is a beautiful book, it’s called Folk Tales of All Nations by F.H. Lee, and it’s beautifully bound, where do you think this is from?
David: I reckon you nicked that off the set of Good Omens.
Michael: I did! It’s from Aziraphale’s bookshop! It’s from Aziraphale’s bookshop which got burned down at the end of the story and so we were asked ‘Do you wanna to keep some of the books?’ so I got a bunch of books from Aziraphale’s bookshop.
Bonus:
From what I recall hearing, the books that were burned were very old and had been acquired from someone who planned to dispose of them anyway. So the ones Michael (and anyone else who kept some) rescued escaped destruction twice! But yeah, not just the books but all those other lovely old things on the bookshop set, the clocks and the phonograph and everything, all of it really was destroyed. (Not Sir Terry’s hat and scarf though!! And I imagine various people involved in the filming managed to save a few items here and there.) Also, although the main Bentley used in the production was not harmed, an authentic and quite valuable non-functional Bentley body was sacrificed. All for authenticity’s sake. So heartbreaking :( But at least they all live on in the show and fanfiction and our hearts.
This is it. This is the moment I realised David ships them just as much as Michael does. He’s just quieter about it.
Anyone else cackling over Michael’s Jerry Maguire moment? :D “You had me at Hell”
“At least.”
