Title: Reassure Me

Denny was more than ready to get home. The heart transplant had been successful and after staying in the hospital for another few months, he was yearning to be in the comfort of his own house. However, you made sure that everything with his health and the heart transplant was approved by many doctors in Seattle Grace Hospital. You could never be too sure and you always wanted to be careful.

“I’m ready, baby,” Denny said, hooking an arm around your waist.

It felt great again to be able to just lean against him and have him tower over you. It brought back many memories from before he was diagnosed with his condition. Now, you and Denny were engaged and you couldn’t wait to spend the rest of your life with him now that he had a clean slate for his new health.

“I know you are. You’ve been ready for the past few months,” you teased.

“What can I say? I’m ready to go home and familiarize myself with you and our bed,” he winked.

Title: Our Own ‘Getaway’

Denny was still on the waiting list for a heart transplant and after the mishap a month ago, it scared you to even leave his side. You managed to convince him to get an LVAD which would give him more time; it was the only option left. Since then, you had become stressed overtime. Though, you never told Denny. When you were with him, you maintained a smile to keep him in lively spirits, but it was when he was asleep that you crumbled.

Tonight was no different. It always took quite a while for Denny to fall asleep; he had mentioned his distaste for hospitals and you couldn’t blame him. You were lying next to him with a hand resting on his abdomen as you watched his chest heaved slowly. Everything was piling up from your duties at work, your assignments for school, and the lack of news for Denny’s heart transplant. It was becoming stressful to deal with alone and no matter how badly you wanted to tell Denny how everything was overwhelming you, you couldn’t. You needed to focus on him.

You slowly climbed out of the bed to sit on the chair. The lights were turned off, so you decided to turn on a small lamp to give you enough light to do your work. You wanted to cry to see if it would help the stress, but you knew that if you did, Denny would wake up and wonder what happened. So, you held back your tears and focused on your assignments.

Title: Our Confession

“Are you still coming over to dinner?” You asked Denny, balancing the phone between your shoulder and ear while you stirred the noodles into the pot.

“You know I am,” he chuckled from behind the phone. “Are you going to cook pasta?”

“It is your favorite, and my daughter’s, so yes.”

“Perfect. I’ll see you both at seven.”

“I’ll see you then, Denny.”

Title: Love At First Sight? (Part 7.)

I was sitting at the chair near Denny’s bed, my book placed in my lap as I read through the pages of what was assigned. Denny, however, looked bored with the lack of interaction. Ever since our first kiss, I found myself pecking his lips every chance I could get. Denny did the same. He would tug on my hand and pull me in for a brief kiss before I left for work or school.

It was something we both had gotten used to. Still, though, there were no signs of a new heart and I was getting worried. Denny was looking thinner, more tired, and the color in his face was slowly draining.

“How’s the reading going?” Denny asks.

I look up at him, shutting my book to set aside in my backpack. I look up at him, reaching for his hand. I place a soft kiss at the back of his hand, letting my cheek rest against it afterwards.

“I’m distracted,” I admit.

He smiles, “Why’s that?”

“Because I’ve got you staring at me every time I turn a page. That and because I really just want to kiss you.” Slowly, I stand from my seat, looking down at him as I lean down to gently peck his lips. I knew our kiss couldn’t go further than a few simple pecks, but I enjoyed the feel of his lips nonetheless.
