I am conceptualising!!! Always a fan of Gordon doing stuff with his antlion pack so I thought… what if he had armour based on them?
(The makings of it are kind of like how the dragon riders from How to train your Dragon 3 make their own suits; where he’d use loose scales/ plates given willingly from his antlions, no mistreating/manhandling here!!)
He’d use this armour when out in the forest around White Forest as it would help him camoflague against the wildlife a lot better than his HEV suit! The use of genuine antlion plates also comforts any unknown antlions to his prescence, even without the bug bait, and they would warm up to him quicker thinking he was one of their own because of the look and smell.
The armour is lightweight but can withstand quite a few hits which makes it very practical as well as durable! So it’s a perfect fit for when there could be danger but putting on the entire HEV suit would be a hassle, it should not be worm into heavy gun fights though and is more suited for general use.
All of it is used from recycled parts (with the exception of his undersuit and HEV suit calf plating, this plating can also be changed out for some shin pads made of antlion plating if desired) and all the plates have straps that can be adjusted to better fit the wearer. The fabric is used to resemble the flapping of antlion wings and the helmet/mask is the front piece of an antlion queen’s head (the snout) with the barb antennae attached to the back to make it resemble the full head of a queen; albiet a few sizes smaller.

imagine gordon building his antlions a lil button press board with audio like people do for animals (im specifically thinking about dog ones rn) so they can communicate....
he gets alyx to help and they both build it and test it out on d0g and he uses it very easily considering his advanced ai but teaching the ants to use it with their lil spiky feet is a lot harder and theyre kinda a bit stupid so it takes a really long time of teaching and positive enforcement and treats/pets but they eventually get the hang of it!!!! and the most popular button to be pressed is “pet” and “sing” because gordon has a habit of humming to them and like... parroting the noises they make back at them (like how you do when you copy ur pets noises for fun) but the ants rly like it cuz it reminds them of their parent chatter/buzzing......
