“The hot tub is made of 2" thick cedar and is 4' deep. I pump water from the spring fed pond (behind the hot tub under 16 inches of ice) into the tub. There is an underwater wood stove (made of welded aluminum) that you can see to the left of where I am sitting (shiny metal top with the wood handle is where I load the firewood). Smoke goes up the chimney. The top of the stove is above the overflow of the tub so water can't get in there. In about 4.5 hours the water gets up to 105 degrees. The crazy thing is when I get out of the tub, even if it's -20 outside, I don't feel the cold. I walk barefoot back into the cabin. It's so relaxing.” - Ravenwood Off-Grid
Kids on the hay shelter!
Fresh Eggs Daily: -6 degrees this morning when I let everyone out. And that's the real temp, not taking wind chill into consideration.
veritashomestead The chickens were brave enough to venture into the snow yesterday, it was hilarious watching them jump over the big piles!
They left the sprinklers on even though it's freezing at work. The icicles move in the wind and make tinking noises like windchimes.
