Doug Boude via Self-Sufficiency Homesteading, Off-Grid Living and Survival Prep - “The first of 20 Texas pecans I planted has awakened! My setup is just me soaking the nuts or seeds for 24 hours, then planting in a pot, watering it very well, then cover with plastic wrap and tape it shut. I then put it in the garage and try to remember to check on it every few days. No other prep. I picked these nuts up off the ground late last fall, had them in a bucket in the pantry, then decided i wanted to grow them so soaked them for 24 hours and stuck in dirt!”
“The hot tub is made of 2" thick cedar and is 4' deep. I pump water from the spring fed pond (behind the hot tub under 16 inches of ice) into the tub. There is an underwater wood stove (made of welded aluminum) that you can see to the left of where I am sitting (shiny metal top with the wood handle is where I load the firewood). Smoke goes up the chimney. The top of the stove is above the overflow of the tub so water can't get in there. In about 4.5 hours the water gets up to 105 degrees. The crazy thing is when I get out of the tub, even if it's -20 outside, I don't feel the cold. I walk barefoot back into the cabin. It's so relaxing.” - Ravenwood Off-Grid
