Heron in the mist for today
I had pretty good heron luck this morning! Saw this adult and its juvenile child hanging about :3c
Big heron moment in the park today!
The last few times we've been in the park we've come with foods (like defrosted corn and/or peas), so today we were very honoured that the moorhen got its babies out of the water and onto the path, all with their big goofy feet 🥲😍 they're so soft and gentle-looking, I bet if you had vegetables or seeds in your hand, they would pop em right from you 🥰
Heron moment (which I somehow only have when I'm going for a walk alone)! I like how there's enough cover in Alexandra Park that you get animals like that, even though the park is sandwiched between the highway and a main road. There's damselflies all over, and there's still time to see juvenile ducks/geese/swans/cygnets/waterfowl before summer hits fully ☺️
Icy... Sleepy...
I used to think this seagull was an asshole because it will *always* show up at food and then just bully everyone out of eating any without actually consuming anything, but I never considered it might be waiting for someone in particular to come eat
Beautiful little scrungly babies
While I do love baby seagulls and don't mind grown seagulls, this particular group seems to be a little Extra about the baby 😅 first time I was a block down from the baby, second time I was behind the building that it was moved to
Just some juvenile swans getting a tin of corn 😄
If I'd known Alexandra Park was this nice, I would've gone earlier in the year so I could've seen the tiny wee babies, but seeing the lanky juveniles is nice too. Next year I'll know when to go!
Here are the smol birds from today's walk! These guys have really cool toes, almost like cresties! He was being a very decent man by gathering twigs for their nest, while his partner was stealing from someone else's nest 😅
