“You are not the first person I’ve sent to the Silent Realm.”
By all accounts, it made sense. It gave reason to her hesitation, to how tense she seemed, to her initial refusal. Even so, her statement took him by surprise and left him with little to say. She’d been through this before. That was why she knew where to go in that huge book of hers; why she didn’t need to reference it in order to draw the sigil. Part of him wanted to be impressed; the other part of him focused on keeping his face steady. If Zelda had any intention of explaining, then he needed to bite his tongue and manage himself carefully. The last thing he needed was for her to think he was judging her.

Deep under the cover of the trees in Faron Woods, there were strange things afloat. Hyrule as a whole was a rather mysterious place, built on legends of goddesses and heroes and magic—but stories became reality when evidence of that magic emerged in various beings across the land. One such being was a young witch living in a small cottage, tucked under the shade of a particularly large oak tree. How she came to live in the woods instead of the lively Castle Town was a mystery. Perhaps it had something to do with the peace that came with such seclusion, so far removed from the throes of society. She couldn’t complain when she spent her days tending her garden, studying up on her spells, reading her well-loved books that kept their shelf company, and taking care of her beloved little cat, a midnight black little thing she called Twilight—such was the time of day that she found him as a kitten.
Zelda couldn’t even consider herself lonely. When the days rolled by, melting into weeks and months and years, she was still content. So content, in fact, that she was almost annoyed when she had an unexpected visitor one morning. There were some herbs she simply could not get to grow in that little garden of hers, which meant scavenging was as necessary as hunting. It was on one of these trips, taken just a few hours after daylight broke the night, that she stumbled upon a stranger. Or, should she say, found a stranger stumbling over a tangle of roots.
The stranger was a young man who looked scruffy in a handsome sort of way, and he seemed disoriented and disheveled, like he didn’t know where he was or how he got there. Looks could be rather deceiving though, so Zelda fished her small dagger from her basket and held it tight behind her back as she stepped out from behind a tree to greet the man.

Twilight Princess - post-game
-------------------------------------------------
Princess Zelda became very grateful that the grand garden was one of the least guarded places in the castle. Being in the courtyard, it was visible from all balcony posts, yet there were areas, however small, where the hedges towered just tall enough to shield them from view.
But for good measure, they were also seated on a bench. She knew the men stationed everywhere in the castle were only doing their jobs, but there were times she craved privacy that wasn’t provided solely by her bedroom or office. Just once, she would like to walk the grounds of the castle without eyes locked on and following her. Her council and the people of Hyrule surely would have plenty to say if they could see her right now, using her plans for restoration as an excuse to see and spend time with their dearest Hero of Twilight.
Their perfect princess, who sat far too close to him with a gloved hand pressed over her mouth to hide her laughter, acting so irresponsibly was unheard of.
