I mean, Yang even *tried* to warn Ruby-Neo would've caught her flat-footed because she'd stopped to concentrate & optic-blast Cinder, and just didn't shift gears back to 'oh crap petal dodge time!' in that split second. If she *had* started semblancing clear Yang would've absolutely aimed for Murdercream. This whole moment's a very neatly-engineered chain of plausible (and awful) combat developments on the writers' part.
oh yes i think the whole scene (from yang falling to everyone keeping fighting afterwards) is really really really well stitched together. i've watched it soooooo many times since it aired and i'm still so impressed with it lol
