This baby also didn't make it into the show. There was gonna be a sequence in the second episode of Hit Monkey where he walks through the Red Light district in Shinjuku. I had a lot of fun with it though, too bad my taiyaki sign and dinosaur didn't make it in. ToT
This didn't make it into the show, but I designed a backroom gambling den for the party montage in the first episode.
My first design on Hit Monkey of a VERY spacious salaryman's bar. This version didn't make it into the show, but I'm still pretty happy with it.
Another of the environments I designed for Marvel's Hit Monkey, this time of a rural Japanese train station. This was my third design on the project and the last one I did the perspective by-hand on. xD After this I moved to SketchUp, praise be 3D mockups.
Another of my environment designs from Marvel's Hit Monkey. Had a ton of fun with this one.
Believe it or not, I can do backgrounds when getting paid beaucoup bucks. I love making backgrounds actually, but because my work had me doing them professionally, I just never bothered doing any in my personal work for like years. This is one of the environment designs I made for Marvel's Hit Monkey show; a seedy love motel in Tokyo.
I'll post more of my work from the show here and there, but you can see the full collection in my portfolio: https://www.paperwick.com/
You know that thing all artists seem to do, where you practice materials and hope to god it makes it to your personal artwork? Yeah we gonna be doing that. Let’s see if my blatant overuse of brushes gives me hitherto unknown skill.
But honestly, I feel I need to do a lot more studies and a lot more personally driven work. I feel like it’s gonna be necessary in the year to come for me to unlock my art soul TM.
I did a cover for a book a bit back, Touch of Mirage by S.R. Arturia. It was a lot of fun to do, very much the point where I started to feel good about making work again. Seems fitting that it be the last thing I post this year, as it is what I was proudest to finish. I was feeling a lot before this that I wouldn’t be able to salvage the year, that I probably wouldn’t make much artwork at all, but this was the challenge I needed right when I needed it.
Thanks for sticking with me another year out. I hope I can clean up my act into something really respectable this new year, I’m resolved to succeed for once in my life. Thank you all for your continued encouragement and inspiration.
Morgan/Lavellan: Temperance Reversed
@raynalissesul’s Inquisitor Morgan, who goes only as Lavellan, fractured and a shadow of the self she remembers.
This was another of those cards that I had a pretty solid idea of what I wanted, so it went pretty fast. The face took the longest, cause upshots are something I super struggle with, but I’m very proud of how it turned out.
Rhunae Surana: Queen of Wands
@rhunae‘s warden, a true Hero of Ferelden, hardened after a long journey and many losses.
May or may not be my last card of this year, depends on a few things, but I’m so glad I finished this before the turn of the new year. It’s been a long one, a really hard year, but it’s nice to finish it on a good note. <3
An item sheet commissioned by @agrona for her character. Thanks for your understanding during this! Her character has some rad items and weapons, they were a lot of fun to work on.
When looking through my computer for that 2010s art meme, I found a lot of art I never finished. Art that wasn't "bad" but I hated at the time and never finished. I might try to finish a few. It's weird cause in my mind, this unfinished painting of Abigail was only a few months old, but it's been over 2 years since I started it. Looks like most of my unfinished art is from 2017. What a wild time. I'm proud of myself back then for starting things, even if I couldn't finish them at the time.
Morrigan from Dragon Age, but as a 1920′s gangster.
This is one of my daily drawings from the “write down ten drawing ideas a day” challenge I’m doing to increase my creativity! (You can read more about that here if you’re curious.)
I’ve decided this is an AU I want.
Montoya: Death
Change is a’comin, and this detective is rolling with the punches. With her friends at her back, she’ll take it all in stride.
My foray offline wasn’t a complete bust, I had plenty of time to polish this lovely lady. Montoya, @raritybuttons brilliant character, was a blast to paint. I had a lot of fun with the symbolism here and all the nitty-gritty details. It’s a really different sort of card for me, but I’m so happy with how she turned out. Thanks again for commissioning me! Also thanks to @htfnoelle who is a wonderful facilitator. <3
Tonight we got a witch with a bat! Best not fuck around with her if you know what’s good for ya.
“Eventually we're going to sink.”
Some fanart of our Stardew Valley community character, Charlie! She’s attempting to woo the boy Sebastian, but he’s a little preoccupied when she visits. I’m planning to maybe stream some more of her adventures on Saturday!
Hey! I made an apple cat! So apart of my personal initiative to write down ten ideas of things to draw per day, I’m also going to do my best to make a drawing everyday before bed. Not necessarily a good drawing, but to make sure I put in the time to execute on my ideas more. I really want to improve my output and get over this fear of drawing and creating my original ideas.
