I love you all but please for the love of fucking god stop saying “Happy Birthday *enter mountains real name here*” attached to a photo of Mountain on stage, and tagging him in it, on Instagram. This refers back to my post of respecting their anonymity in the band.

I don’t personally know how he reacts to being known as Mountain/Earth, or even being talked to about Ghost, but I imagine it’s like the rest of the members. Please just stop.

Wanna wish Mountain a happy birthday? Cool, do it either as him as Mountain, and no real names attached, or as him to himself. Stop this “but he’s apart of ghost which means we can call him his real name and tag him on a photo of him on stage” bullshit.

How do yall FIND these poor ghouls?!

I know two of their identities and I still dont have the guts to follow them (idk how i would either) even tho I REALLLLYY wanna support their other stuff (if they have any?! Do they!???)

But to TAG THEM IN STUFF??? Damn yall are WILDIN.. How do you even find this sort of information?!

But yeah!!! THISS!!!! Just cuz ya know their faces/names dont mean everyone else does and dont mean its chill to shout it out at every turn. Dont be the one to make them close their pages or whatever they have ): dont ruin it for the good noodles in the fandom who support them on their own..

Finally a soul who understands, but another thing I noticed

Someone reblogged this and said something around the lines of “well his girlfriend follows mountain pages and likes mountain stuff so he might not mind”

And the first thing that popped into my mind was that, his girlfriend, isn’t in the band. She doesn’t need to remain anonymous. She doesn’t have to worry about the legal shit with the band that he could get into with this, She’s just silently being a supporter for his works with the band.

He’s a solid 50/50 because he does like and interact with fans comments a bit, but the anonymous thing still applies. He knows he’s mountain. We all know he’s mountain. Keep it at that. Why does his name have to be thrown around and why do all of us assume he’s okay with it.

Wether he is or not, we’ll never fully know, so why can’t we just play it safe, be respectful and not do it.

I’ll admit, I damn well talk about them and their identies A LOT, but you know where I do it? In the privacy of private messages with people who also know their identies. Not out in the open for everyone to see and know. And most of the time I’m not even talking about their position in ghost, it’s mainly their other acts and shit.

And fuck, I WISH I didn’t know their identies, when I first started listening to them I loved the fact they were anonymous, I thought it was hot tbh. Then one night on reddit, some fucker was like “hey here’s all of the ghouls identies for both previous eras and current” and now I know. And I hate it.

I actually didn't mean it like she would mind..I was just saying that the happy birthday would probably get back to him if that's what you were going for.

But really, I hate it when people tag the ghouls specifically in Ghost related things.

But saying happy birthday to Mountain without telling everyone who he really is, I think, is perfectly fine.

Oh no hun, not saying you did anything wrong. I was just throwing more of my two cents out there for anyone who may act like it’s okay since their partners do it.

And no no, a happy birthday to them? Fantastic. I’ve done it to both Dew and Mountain so far, but for Dews? I did it on Facebook, referring to his real identity and no strings attached. Just him as is. Same for mountain except I did it on Instagram in pms, of which he read and liked.

This is just aimed at the people who do, do it, and think it’s okay when it’s really not.

I'm not a big fan of the private messages, I prefer to leave them alone and will generally only comment on their posts...but I feel like some of the fans do it and don't expect them to ever see it so it's fine. I have artist friends that made fan art to essentially celebrate Dew's birthday not that long ago and they never eluded to the real person at all.

Do we most of us know who he is and know it's his birthday, yeah...but my friends never tagged him personally. I just think it's fine that way because if someone is in the know, they are already aware...but it still keeps their identity safe from people who don't want to know who they are.

(by the way, I saw that same Reddit post you refered to and even if I was like...ugh, I'm still glad I know because the people behind the masks are so talented and make great music on their own! 😁)

I suppose I should’ve clarified about the dms because I personally am not a fan of it either, but yknow when you tag someone in an Instagram story and it instantly dms them about it? That’s what I mean oof. But it was an image of him in another band, totally unrelated to ghost.

I suppose one fun thing about knowing their identies now is that I’m like “woah they were in this band?? This used to be my shit back in the day”. For instance, all of the bands Mountain has been in? LOVE THEM. same with Dew.

This fandoms wack and I wanna nap now because people are trying to fight me in dms about being allowed to say their identity and it’s burning my brain cells.

Do I know some of the ghoul's identities outside of Ghost? Yes. I made a conscious decision to do so, but I would never spoil it for those who don't want to know, and I respect the ghoul's decisions to either remain completely anonymous or simply unassociated while working on other projects. Behaving otherwise is disrespectful and gross. It's prevented me from interacting with them because I don't want to be lumped in with those who do shit like that, and it makes me sad . They're called Nameless Ghouls for a reason -maybe even several reasons, legal or otherwise -but either way, don't be a frickin jerk.
